Theresa.

"Alex!" I called out his name, my voice completely heavy with undisguised disgust and sheer irritation. "What has been done is done!" I declared firmly, shutting my eyes tightly to blot out the miserable sight of him. "Leave this room right now and at least give me a moment of peace."

"Ella!" Alex pleaded, desperate as he crawled forward across the cold hospital tile, his knees scraping against the floor. "Please don’t chase me out..." He paused, his voice trembling violently as he lifted his bloodshot eyes to meet mine. "...don’t chase me out of your life forever."

I rolled my eyes in complete exasperation, opening them just enough to look down at his bruised face and blood-stained mouth.

"Lurgard!" I called out firmly, my tone leaving no room for argument.

"Yes, baby!" Lurgard responded instantly, his voice bursting with unmistakable excitement at being called upon.

Hearing him address me like that made me fight with everything I had not to burst out laughing mid-confrontation, especially given how annoyed I still was with his earlier antics.

Under normal circumstances, I would have willingly allowed Lawrence to step up and throw Alex out of the room, but looking at the sheer physical aggression needed right now, Lurgard was undoubtedly far better suited for the job.

"Take him out of this room right now!" I commanded, pointing a single, resolute finger toward the doorway.

"At your service, my queen!" Lurgard declared with dramatic flair, flashing me a bright, beaming smile that completely contrasted the chaotic mood of the room.

However, the very second he turned his head away from me and set his sights back on Alex, that pleasant expression vanished entirely, his face darkening into a mask of pure, vicious intent.

"Are you going to walk out of here on your own two feet, or should I gladly help you out?" Lurgard growled fiercely, taking a menacing step toward the shattered man kneeling on the floor.

"Ella—!" Alex called out one last desperate time, his voice choked with sobs.

But he never even got the chance to finish uttering my name. Lurgard lunged forward, reaching down to grab a tight, crushing handful of Alex’s shirt collar, hauling him off the ground as if he weighed nothing at all. Without showing a single shred of hesitation or care, Lurgard dragged him across the threshold and threw him violently out into the cold hospital corridor.

"Rot in hell, Alex!" Lurgard yelled after him, his thunderous voice echoing down the hallway before he slammed the heavy wooden door shut behind him with a deafening crash.

I let out a long, heavy sigh of immense relief the very moment the heavy door slammed shut behind Alex, severing his suffocating presence from the room.

Alex was truly an irredeemable asshole through and through. The only reason he was suddenly putting on this pathetic display, weeping and begging to remain in my life, was simply because he had finally uncovered the truth—that I was actually capable of conceiving a child.

’But if I truly possessed the ability to conceive a child all along, why on earth didn’t it happen during all those long years we were together?’ I questioned silently, the perplexing thought flashing like a sudden jolt through my mind.

Could there have been some underlying, hidden reason behind it all?

Or was the benevolent Moon Goddess quietly intervening on my behalf, protecting me and forcing me to endure that painful period of waiting just so I could ultimately see Alex’s true, ugly colors fully exposed?

Despite everything, I was actually deeply glad and relieved that I didn’t end up bound for the rest of my life to a spineless hypocrite like him.

Thankfully, my path had shifted, leading me to cross paths with the triplets instead—even if they came with their own fair share of intensely annoying character traits.

"My queen, is there anything else in this room that you would like me to permanently remove from your sight?" Lurgard asked eagerly, his voice filled with an almost unnecessary enthusiasm as though he had been waiting for the opportunity to be useful.

He had already abandoned his post by the entrance, marching straight toward my bedside with a proud, puffed-out chest and an expression of absolute confidence.

The way he carried himself made it seem as though he had just accomplished some great feat, when all he had done was offer to remove something I had never even asked him to touch.

I rolled my eyes immediately at his dramatic declaration, barely able to hide my irritation at his eagerness.

This exact behavior was precisely one of those insufferable character traits I had just been thinking about.

They constantly had this overbearing habit of trying to enforce things on me and steamroll over my personal space, acting as though every decision concerning me automatically belonged to them.

They rarely seemed to understand that I was perfectly capable of deciding things for myself, especially when it came to my own surroundings and my own choices.

They never seemed to give me the quiet willpower or simple autonomy to make my own decisions in my own time.

"If I needed you to throw anything else out, I would have used my own voice to call on you myself," I said, allowing every single word to leave my mouth with heavy, deliberate sarcasm.

I held his gaze firmly, making sure there was absolutely no misunderstanding in my response.

I didn’t need him anticipating my wishes or taking control of things I had never asked him to handle.

"Ouch!" Lurgard exclaimed dramatically, clutching a hand over his heart as if my sharp words had inflicted a genuine physical wound. "Why do I suddenly get the distinct feeling that you are intensely pissed off with me?" he asked, raising his brows in exaggerated, mock surprise.

"You are disturbing her, Lurgard!" Lawrence suddenly blurted out, stepping forward without a second thought and reaching down to firmly block both of my ears with his warm palms.

"Won’t you just stay out of our playful conversation for once!" Lurgard snapped back with intense annoyance, his dark eyes narrowing into a dangerous glare as he stared Lawrence down.

Lawrence merely chuckled at the hostile reaction, smoothly removing his hands from my ears before folding his arms across his chest in a dramatic, confident posture. "Playful?" he echoed mocking, tilting his head. "You are just disturbing her peace, Lurgard," he added, his voice dripping with cool superiority. "And around here, that is called being a total nuisance!"

"A nuisance?" Lurgard asked, his brows shooting up in absolute disbelief as a forced, dry chuckle escaped his throat. "You aren’t worried about her peace at all—you are just green with jealousy!" he added, stepping closer.

"No, I am definitely not!" Lawrence declared firmly, his voice carrying absolute certainty as he stood his ground without yielding even an inch.

His expression remained stubbornly set, making it painfully obvious that he had no intention of backing down from his position or allowing his brother to push him into admitting anything.

"Oh, you absolutely are!" Lurgard fired back with equal firmness, immediately refusing to let the matter go.

He pointed an accusatory finger directly at his brother, his brows drawing together as his irritation became increasingly evident.

"Your reckless actions and transparent attitude are actually giving you completely away!" he added, a frustrated smirk tugging at the corner of his lips.

There was something almost mocking in the way he said it, as though Lawrence’s attempt to deny everything only made his accusation seem even more obvious.

Lawrence’s expression tightened further, clearly displeased by his brother’s words.

Before either of them could continue their increasingly irritating exchange, however, Leonard suddenly lost his patience.

"Can the both of you just keep quiet for once!" Leonard yelled.

His deep, commanding voice boomed through the room with such force that it instantly shattered their bitter exchange. The sheer authority in his tone brought their argument to an abrupt stop, leaving no doubt that he had heard enough.

"The two of you standing there endlessly arguing over nothing is actually the main nuisance in this room!" he added, casting a harsh, unyielding glare across both of them.

His eyes moved from Lawrence to Lurgard, his expression making his displeasure painfully clear.

In an instant, the heated back-and-forth ground to a screeching halt.

The silence that followed was almost immediate.

Both Lawrence and Lurgard stared ahead with deeply displeased, pouting expressions plastered across their faces. Their previously confident attitudes had disappeared almost completely, leaving them looking remarkably like two chastised schoolboys who had just been firmly put in their place.

And honestly, the sudden transformation was almost impossible to ignore.

Just moments ago, they had been arguing with absolute confidence, each one refusing to surrender even the smallest bit of ground.

Now, they stood there looking thoroughly chastised.

Seeing that sudden shift in their confident demeanor, I had to bite back the reaction threatening to escape me.

It took every single ounce of strength left in my body to keep my face straight, because honestly, watching the two of them standing there with those deeply offended, sulking expressions was almost too much.

I desperately fought the urge to burst out laughing right there in front of them.
