Chapter 195: Lash out!
Alex.
Everything was utterly lost at the moment, and every single shred of this nightmare was entirely because of those wretched triplets. If they hadn’t somehow found their way into Ella’s life and intruded upon her world, she would still be mine, standing faithfully by my side where she belonged.
Yes, that had to be the only logical explanation: she was simply being brainwashed and ruthlessly manipulated by the three of them right now. They had filled her head with poison, turning her against me and blinding her to reality.
I just had to find the necessary, indisputable evidence to prove to her once and for all that they aren’t who she so naively thinks they are. Beneath those polished facades laid nothing more than cold-blooded, blood-sucking demons—monsters who would gladly kill anyone on a whim the very second they decided a person was no longer useful to them.
Just look at what they had already done: they murdered my innocent baby without thinking twice, callously ending a precious life simply because my child served no purpose or usefulness in their twisted, selfish world.
But fortunately for everyone involved, I am fully aware of these dark facts now. I see their true nature clearly, and I will make every single one of them pay dearly for murdering my child in cold blood.
I clenched my fists tightly, my knuckles turning white as I stood alone in the sterile corridor, glaring furiously at the heavy, shut hospital door that stood between me and Ella.
’You all will pay dearly for this absolute humiliation!’ I vowed inwardly, my heart burning with a vengeful, toxic fire. ’And no matter what it takes, I will make Ella mine once again.’
It was truly just a matter of time; very soon, every single piece of this chaotic mess would be forced back into its proper place!
I raised my shaking hand, wiped the blood and sweat from my bruised face, and carefully adjusted the knot of my necktie, keeping my harsh, unblinking gaze fixed squarely on that wooden door.
I am certainly not the type of man to give up when faced with an obstacle, and therefore, I refuse to accept this temporary defeat as the end of my story.
One way or another, by whatever means necessary, I will drag Ella back into my life where she rightfully belongs.
With that burning, unyielding thought firmly rooted in my mind, I finally turned around on my heel and walked away, leaving the hospital behind.
I marched straight to my car, my heavy footsteps echoing through the underground parking lot. The second I slid into the driver’s seat, before I could even turn the key to start the engine, my phone buzzed with an incoming call from Philip. I swiped the screen and answered it immediately, pressing the phone tightly against my ear.
Without sparing him even a single second or a chance to speak his opening greeting, I barked into the receiver. "What’s the update?"
"Alpha, currently we..." he started to explain, his tone hesitant, but I didn’t let him finish his sentence.
"I want no excuses or long-winded explanations, Philip!" I yelled at the top of my lungs, my chest heaving with raw rage as I slammed my fist hard against the steering wheel, the sharp horn blaring momentarily through the empty vehicle. "What I want to hear coming out of your mouth right now is a concrete result!" I added firmly, my voice laced with absolute steel and zero tolerance for failure.
"I’m so sorry, Alpha!" Philip said in a low, hushed voice through the speaker, sounding deeply subdued by my outburst. "We still haven’t been able to track them down." He added, his confession heavy with reluctance.
I chuckled slightly, a dark, mocking sound escaping my throat as my grip tightened on the leather steering wheel. "It is really not that hard of a task to execute, Philip." I paused, letting a sudden, quiet realization take root in my hyper-vigilant mind. "Or tell me...are you secretly trying to protect her from me?"
There was a sudden, agonizingly brief silence on the other end of the line, thick and suffocating, as Philip didn’t utter a single word in his defense.
"Are you in love with her?" I asked, pressing the ridiculous accusation even further as my mind scrambled for any target, desperately looking for any convenient means to vent out the overwhelming pool of frustration burning inside me.
"Alpha!" Philip finally yelled back across the phone line, his usual composed demeanor snapping entirely under my insult. "I have absolutely no idea what kind of madness is going on in your mind right now..." He paused, taking in a deep, sharp breath on the other end to steady his rising temper. "...but you had better control your tongue!" He added sternly, refusing to let me drag his loyalty through the mud.
At his harsh, sharp words, the illusion shattered, and I immediately ran a hand tiredly through my face, rubbing my forehead as the sheer weight of everything began to crash down on me.
What on earth was I even doing?
Lashing out like an unhinged lunatic and pouring out all my raw frustration on my own loyal subordinate was completely out of character for me.
"I will call you back the moment you are actually calm!" Philip said coldly, and before I could even open my mouth to utter a word of defense, he hung up the phone immediately.
’Damn it!’ I cursed inwardly, slamming the phone down onto the passenger seat as bitter frustration surged through my veins once more.
Where could Eva actually be hiding right now?
If it was truly Thomas who had broken into the facility to rescue her, then how on earth did he manage to escape so effortlessly?
I had secretly placed a potent, bone-absorbing substance all around the perimeter specifically designed to weaken his strength and immobilize him the moment he stepped foot inside.
But it clearly didn’t work. It hadn’t slowed him down in the slightest.
Therefore, was it really Thomas who had personally executed the break-in himself, or had he simply ordered his elite men to carry out the dirty work on his behalf while he remained safely hidden in the shadows?
The question continued to gnaw relentlessly at the back of my mind. The more I thought about it, the more uncertain everything became.
If Thomas had truly been behind the entire operation, then why had he gone to such lengths to keep himself out of sight?
And if his men had been the ones who carried it out, then it only meant that he had been pulling the strings from somewhere nearby, watching everything unfold without ever exposing himself.
"Arrrrghhhhh!!" I screamed inwardly, my frustration boiling over as I dug my fingernails deep into the leather-wrapped steering wheel.
I clenched it so tightly that my knuckles grew rigid, my hands trembling slightly beneath the force of my unvented fury. I could feel the tension spreading through my arms as I struggled to keep myself from completely losing my composure.
’Whatever actually transpired back there, none of it changes my ultimate goal!’ I reminded myself firmly, forcing my scattered thoughts back toward the one objective that mattered most. ’I desperately need to get my hands on Eva’s head to pacify Ella and earn her forgiveness!’ The thought repeated itself inside my mind, drowning out every other question and uncertainty.
No matter how complicated the situation had become, I could not afford to lose sight of what I wanted. My mind fixed stubbornly on that singular, twisted objective, refusing to let anything else distract me from it.
I slowly drew in a long, deep breath, filling my lungs before releasing it gradually. I repeated the motion, deliberately forcing my rapid heartbeat to settle and the heat of my anger to subside. Little by little, I regained control over my breathing, even though the frustration still lingered heavily inside me.
Finally, I turned the key in the ignition.
The engine roared to life, its deep vibration traveling through the frame of the car and beneath my hands. The familiar sound gave me something else to focus on as I shifted the gear into drive and pressed my foot against the accelerator.
The car rolled smoothly out of the hospital parking lot and onto the road. I navigated through the streets, keeping my attention on the road ahead while my thoughts remained occupied with everything that had happened. I needed somewhere quiet, somewhere I could think without interruption and regain the composure I had nearly lost.
More importantly, I needed to think clearly.
My corporate headquarters was exactly where I needed to be. Once I got there, I could put everything into perspective, organize my thoughts, and determine my next course of action.
I needed to regain my lost composure, carefully assess the situation, and, above all, map out a strategy that would allow me to take back absolute control of my company.
