Chapter 1449 - 1442: Let’s Remarry
Chloe Winston heard Yusi Sweet talking all weird and confusing, was a bit stunned, pushed open the door to the private room, and said with a faint smile, "What’s there to envy about me? I’m still in debt."
"What debt?" The man saw her push the door open and come in, wearing a Republic District–retro style little jacket with frog buttons. It made her small face look even fairer and more translucent, cute and fresh. His gaze instantly dimmed a shade as he rasped, "I’ll pay it off for you."
Everyone in the room instantly pricked up their gossip antennae. Damn, is he really flexing his love right to their faces? Most of them are single dogs, okay.
Chloe looked up and saw the man in a white shirt, the top button at the collar undone. He sat there elegant and refined, his features sharply defined, eyes deep and shadowy—just looking at him was enough to make anyone’s heart go thump-thump-thump.
"If Mr. Constantine has any charitable urges, the Red Cross would be happy to have you." Chloe tugged at the corner of her lips and said expressionlessly.
The smile at the corner of Constantine Stewart’s mouth deepened. She really did act spoiled from being doted on, just like a little cat in a snit, constantly getting mad to grab his attention. He was happy to indulge and pamper her, then wait for the day his little kitten pounced into his arms, all coy and clingy, and he’d collect on all these debts.
"Chloe’s here, sit down, quick." Faust stepped in to smooth things over with a laugh. Watching how the two of them got along, it was obvious Constantine Stewart was the one yielding to Chloe. Unreal—pretty girls really are untouchable. Faust was even depressed wondering why he didn’t have a daughter; if he had one as pretty as Chloe, maybe she’d end up riding on top of some big shot’s head someday.
"Serve the dishes." Seeing Chloe had arrived, Constantine Stewart told them to start bringing out the food.
The dishes were made by Constantine’s private chef, who absolutely crushed the Holiday Village cooks. The food leaned sweet, especially the desserts—so good you wanted to bite off your fingers.
"This dessert is actually amazing. Is the cuisine Shayl City-style? It’s sweet." Yusi Sweet was eating away with zero image burden, occasionally chatting with Chloe while desperately farming favorability points in front of Constantine Stewart.
"Mr. Constantine, is this your household chef? The flavors are indeed on the sweeter side." Faust was way calmer than the youngsters, and asked Constantine Stewart.
"My wife loves sweets, so the chef at home is pretty good at Jiangzhe dishes. The desserts were learned fresh in France." Constantine Stewart lowered his eyes and spoke lazily. His own tastes had been led into liking sweets too; luckily he worked out all year long, or if he got fat and out of shape, that’d be a nightmare.
Faust froze, and the four young people also froze, screaming internally: Constantine Stewart has a wife? What the hell!!!
"You got married again?" Chloe narrowed her eyes and asked faintly.
Again? Yusi Sweet’s eyes lit up dramatically as she looked at the audacious Chloe and silently sent a wave of thumbs-up. As expected, Chloe’s relationship with Mr. Constantine was far from ordinary—she actually knew he was on his second marriage. Wait, Constantine Stewart, second marriage? There isn’t even any news online about his first marriage, and now we’re on marriage number two? A secondhand older man chasing Chloe?
In an instant, the young people’s gazes toward Chloe turned a bit sympathetic. They’d thought he was some diamond bachelor, only to find out there was a wife at home—and not just one, but two wives in total. So is Chloe supposed to be the mistress? Ha. Scumbag.
Constantine Stewart had absolutely no idea what plot these people were auto-completing in their heads. He looked at Chloe and said in a low voice, "Miss Winston is very interested in my romantic and marital status?"
"Not interested. I just hope there can be one less scumbag in this world and a bit more love." Chloe smiled, then downed her favorite chef’s homemade kumquat lemon tea in one satisfying gulp.
"Scumbags all need good women to reform them." Constantine Stewart reached out and, humbling himself, poured a big pitcher of kumquat lemon tea into Chloe’s glass, filling it to the brim. His movements were extremely natural and practiced, as if he’d done this countless times before.
Emilio Greenwood scratched his head, realizing he couldn’t get a word in edgewise at all. Yusi Sweet and Victoria exchanged a look, feeling like they’d uncovered some earth-shattering secret. The wily veteran director just buried his head in his food, eating and nodding along.
Chloe felt her temper flaring a bit, picked up her tea and took a few more sips, and stopped talking. Back when she’d first been taken in by Constantine Stewart, she’d tried every trick in the book fighting him—eighteen different techniques, cold wars and shameless tactics—but she had never won. She’d already experienced firsthand how good Constantine’s tongue was; most of the time, that man just couldn’t be bothered to talk.
"Mr. Constantine, has no one ever told you you should never try to reason with girls?" Yusi Sweet fluttered her lashes and smiled. "Because the prettier a girl is, the less she plays by reason."
A handsome, rich scumbag—sigh, look but don’t touch.
"Point taken. No wonder Chloe Winston has never tried to reason with me." Constantine Stewart smiled lightly, feeling this little miss was cunning as a fox. Of course, the cleverest was still his own little girl, or he wouldn’t have taken a fall.
