Chapter 1450 - 1442: Let’s Remarry_2
"Cough, cough, cough, cough." Faust choked abruptly upon hearing this.
"Oh my, Director, don’t choke to death. If something happens to you, what are us starving babies supposed to do?" Emilio Greenwood finally managed to say something, exaggeratedly patting the director’s back and laughing, "Eat slower."
Really, it’s like being force-fed a bunch of dog food, Faust felt his stomach couldn’t digest it all.
"I’m full. I need to go for a walk to digest. You youngsters chat slowly." Faust sneaked away after having his fill.
"Director, I’ll go with you. It’s dark, I’m afraid you’ll trip." Emilio jumped up, too talkative to stay behind, and followed Faust out with a grin.
Victoria stood up and left politely. As everyone left, Chloe Winston grabbed two desserts and shouted, "Wait for me, I’m scared of the dark and need company."
In a moment, everyone was gone, leaving only Chloe Winston and Constantine Stewart.
Chloe Winston stood up, the man raised his eyes and asked indifferently, "When are you going home?"
"That’s none of your business." Chloe Winston frowned slightly, her thin brows knitting together in annoyance. She leaned forward slightly, pressing her hand on the table, and looked at Constantine Stewart, saying, "Stop wasting your efforts. I will never like you. This only makes me dislike you more."
"How could you hate me if you don’t care?" Constantine Stewart looked up calmly, his gaze profound, looking at the feisty little kitten, he said in a faint voice, "I’m sorry for what happened last time, I shouldn’t have taken advantage of you when you were drunk. Chloe Winston, I want to remarry you."
The man spoke calmly, every word crystal clear. Chloe Winston understood every word, but when combined, she found it incomprehensible.
Remarry? It took her a while to react, and she laughed coldly. Such light words, she looked coldly at Constantine Stewart and said, "Aren’t you the one who hated kids the most, who hated being tied down the most? You ditched your ex-wife, and now you’re picking her back up. Doesn’t this tarnish your style and pride?"
"I accidentally lost it." The man’s voice was slightly hoarse and low. Most people aren’t wise enough to realize the value of precious things until they’ve lost them.
He was wrong and wanted to change, wasn’t that possible?
"What’s lost is lost forever, you should face reality sooner." Chloe Winston impatiently interrupted him, her heart in turmoil by his words, her small face icy cold.
Remarry? She once fantasized that Constantine Stewart would one day see her worth, realize she wasn’t just some inept girl, genuinely appreciate her, and love her, instead of keeping her as a pet fairy.
In the early days after their divorce, she spent whole nights sleepless, dazed during the day, living in nightmares. They were clearly sweet together, everything seemingly fine, yet he left her suddenly. She didn’t dare to venture far, waiting in tears at the same spot, until her heart grew numb and she understood that once abandoned, forever abandoned.
She tried to stand up, tried to stop liking him, tried to forget the past, and now he talks about remarrying her?
He’s the least qualified to say that.
Chloe Winston’s eyes were slightly reddened, her heart aching, she coldly looked at Constantine Stewart and said, "I don’t need you anymore, Constantine Stewart."
She turned and left, without shedding a tear.
Constantine Stewart watched her stubborn back, his expression complex, before he finally said in a low, deep voice, "But I need you now, darling."
He realized from the start that he couldn’t do without her. He had nurtured feelings for the girl he took care of for three years, who became his wife, but later feared that such feelings would ruin him, so he severed them resolutely. It took just half a year to revert back to his original state. Richard Shaw was right, how could he not love her when he married her? Among all the women in the world, only she caught his eye, and he was ensnared, ensnared entirely.
This kind of man could indeed fall for a woman, something he never knew before.
Constantine Stewart elegantly wiped the corner of his lips with a napkin, then picked up the cup Chloe Winston had drunk from, sipping at the spot with her lipstick mark. The tea she loved was a sour-sweet blend, so sour it almost made his teeth fall out.
From now on, he would try to like the things she did, only then could they have a common language.
After leaving the private room, Chloe Winston encountered Emilio Greenwood on her way downstairs. She passed by expressionlessly, making Emilio choke on his words "Mrs. Stewart," unable to greet her. Seeing her like this, his face fell, knowing that if she was upset, it meant Mr. Stewart was in a bad mood too, and his own day wouldn’t be good. How unlucky!
The lights at the Holiday Village in the evening were beautiful, especially in the dining area, which was bustling with people. The garden outside was lit up with colorful ground lamps.
Faust and the others were crouching outside chatting, showing none of the star-studded air of a director and celebrity. Emilio Greenwood, utterly handsome, was smoking, though exhibiting a bit of spoiled-rich-kid aura.
"Whoa, Chloe Winston, how come you’re out so soon?" Emilio caught sight of her and cheerfully greeted her.
"Where did Victoria and Si Tian go?" Chloe looked around, not seeing them.
"The ladies went for a massage." Emilio laughed.
Faust noticed she came out and peeked behind her for a long time, not seeing Constantine Stewart following, he lowered his voice and said, "Why didn’t you come out with Mr. Stewart, Chloe? Do you not know Constantine Stewart’s wealth and background? How can you be so indifferent? If Constantine Stewart decided to support you, you could go international in less than three years. Do you know about Elliott? She just went around Paris and came back like she was gilded, and everyone’s eating it up here."
Chloe Winston replied calmly, "I’d rather spend ten years doing it on my own."
Emilio, witnessing this, couldn’t help but give her a thumbs up, smiling, "Sister Winston, impressive. I’m still relying on my father, making me feel ashamed."
"Kid, it’s not shameful to rely on your dad. Others envy you for having a good father." Faust laughed, seeing the pride Chloe carried, feeling both regret and comfort.
Realizing it was getting late, Chloe said goodbye to Faust and Emilio, heading back to get her beauty sleep. She now went to bed every night around nine or ten.
Truly, a youthful age living a senior’s lifestyle.
