Chapter 1455 - 1446: Help Me Apply the Medicine
Constantine Stewart’s leg hasn’t completely healed, walking is still a bit difficult. With that punch directly to the face, he fell off the wheelchair.
Finnian struck hard, delivering another punch right after the first.
Chloe Winston was frightened by his aggressive stance. Without thinking, she stopped him, her eyes red as she shouted, "Stop hitting him."
Seeing her scared expression, Finnian finally stayed his hand, his chest heaving, speaking hoarsely, "This bastard’s nothing but trouble."
Chloe suddenly reached out to wipe the moisture from her eyes. Constantine Stewart was always trouble. She didn’t even know how she ended up encountering him. Many times, she wanted to erase his mark on her, but she couldn’t. She muddled through to 15 years old, and later, a lot of the world’s views and thoughts were taught to her by Constantine Stewart.
Sometimes she would even despair, thinking she’d never escape him for the rest of her life.
"He’s not worth it," Chloe said earnestly, not turning back to look at Constantine’s injuries, her eyes merely rimmed with red.
The commotion in the kitchen quickly alarmed others. When the butler and Zheng Gu entered, they saw Constantine Stewart fallen to the ground, injuries unclear, a cut on his lip from the beating, bleeding, they were shocked.
"Mr. Stewart, I’ll take you to the hospital. Your leg hasn’t healed, we need to get it checked quickly," Zheng Gu said urgently.
Constantine Stewart acted as if he didn’t hear, his hair in disarray hanging over his forehead, sitting on the cold ground. He hadn’t retaliated when Finnian struck.
Constantine Stewart’s physical strength definitely surpasses Finnian, who’s long been in politics. The man didn’t fight back, just to see if she’d feel any pity, even a little, but Chloe never once looked back at him from start to finish.
He glared fiercely at the young girl. When he saw her quickly wipe the corners of her eyes, as if she’d cried, his heart felt as if it was clenched, it hurt, more painful than the injuries Finnian caused.
He just wanted to return to his former life. He didn’t want to face cold houses alone, eating alone, sleeping alone, without even someone to talk to, feeling like there was no one else in the world but him.
Constantine Stewart’s face was dark, silent, meanwhile, Zheng Gu’s face changed dramatically, resorting to pleading with Chloe.
"Miss Winston, Mr. Stewart was seriously injured before. Last time at the hospital check-up, the doctor said it would take a year or two to fully recover. Please be kind, accompany Mr. Stewart to the hospital," Zheng Gu pleaded lowly.
Mr. Stewart’s temper couldn’t be turned even by nine bulls, they could only persuade him.
Chloe wiped her eyes, feeling a bit incompetent. However, Finnian had hit someone, his work being special. If Constantine decided to pursue it, he might even get him fired, so she lowered her head, saying hoarsely, "Okay."
After speaking, she looked at Finnian, reaching out to pull him out of the kitchen, ignoring Constantine.
The two descended the stairs in silence.
"Stop hitting people for me, he’s not a good person, he’ll retaliate against you." Her big, dark eyes were a bit red, still at a loss over everything that had suddenly happened before. She didn’t understand why Constantine said those things, nor anticipated Finnian would hit Constantine for her.
"He’s just in it for the novelty. Once the novelty fades, it’ll be over. If you keep opposing him, it’ll never end," Chloe said, feeling a bitter, unbearable pain inside, feeling like she might lose the only neighbor she’d just gained.
Finnian thought of the way Constantine looked at Chloe. That was definitely not about novelty. It was a man’s possessiveness towards a woman. Constantine considered her his possession.
After returning from France, Constantine had already realized his feelings, which is why he was pursuing Chloe so persistently, though his methods were overly aggressive. But it has to be said, hearing those words, any man would get angry.
No wonder Chloe abruptly ended her shoot before. Constantine suddenly flew to France. Learning there was more to it, coupled with the sight of the young girl being unhappy during that time, Finnian wished he could punch a few more times.
Looking at the girl’s somewhat swollen eyes, Finnian sighed lightly and said, "Chloe, Constantine Stewart isn’t after you for novelty. I can see he’s serious. You have to sort out your relationship with him. The longer you delay, the worse it is for you."
Rumor has it that Constantine Stewart’s temper is unpredictable and volatile, probably a madman. Who knows what might happen if things remain unclear going on like this.
Chloe was taken aback hearing this, then shook her head. She had always been avoiding him; it was Constantine who was relentlessly pursuing.
Lowering her eyes, she said hoarsely, "You don’t understand, he’s terrifying. You think he’s serious, but this seriousness has a deadline. He’s serious about everything he’s interested in. Once the seriousness is over, he casually discards it."
He developed the hottest 4D game seriously just because he was bored, invested money to play it for a year, then never touched it again. When he married her, he was serious too. Back then, she was still naive and often liked to act spoiled, he was always patient, never harsh, only punished her.
She and the game he played aren’t too different, just that he cared for a period of time.
Once the heart cools, she would never believe Constantine Stewart again, no matter what he says or does.
Finnian looked up, seeing Constantine Stewart following them downstairs. The man sat in the wheelchair, his refined and handsome face marred by beatings, his gaze fierce as a wolf, yet his expression was exceptionally calm.
He furrowed his brow, then reached out, wrapping his arm around Chloe, gently patting her back, softly saying, "I’ll accompany Constantine Stewart to the hospital for an examination. You should go and rest, continue with your filming, live your life, don’t worry about anything else. Chloe, you’re no longer a lonely, dependent orphan in the welfare institution. You have many fans who like and support you, and you have friends."
Chloe hesitated for a moment, then shook her head, saying, "Everyone here is his. I can’t feel at ease. You should return to the Imperial City tonight. I’ll accompany him to the hospital, I’ll bring people from the crew with me, he won’t dare to do anything to me."
Finnian sighed quietly, paused for a moment, then nodded.
Constantine Stewart didn’t move at all over there, the man’s face was cold as a marble statue. Those around him were anxious as ants on a hot pan, yet he remained motionless, his dark gaze fixed on Chloe.
The Holiday Village didn’t have an ambulance, nor a hospital. They had accompanying doctors, but were concerned that Constantine’s leg injury was serious, hence the need to go to the hospital for a check-up.
Glancing at Zheng Gu, Chloe said, "Let’s go."
Zheng Gu nodded excitedly.
Noticing she was about to leave, the man rasped, "No need to go to the hospital, just go back and apply medicine for me."
Chloe’s body shifted slightly, on the other side, Constantine Stewart was already pressing the wheelchair towards the direction of the villa, heading to Chloe’s residence.
