After Charles Taylor finished negotiating with the program crew, he walked over with Wendy Starling.

"Chloe Winston, the program crew has already discussed it. They agreed that Lolita fell on her own, and no other rumors will spread," Charles Taylor said to her gently with a comforting smile.

"Why didn’t you let me say it was Lolita staging her own fall just now?" Wendy Starling said angrily, "Chloe, do you know how the program crew sees you now? I can’t stand your hesitant personality. If it were me, I would have torn that woman apart."

Seeing her furious expression, Chloe Winston chuckled and said, "You and her are known as sworn enemies. Who would believe your words? They would just say you and I are conspiring together to deal with Lolita, and then you would be targeted as well."

"Why would this woman deliberately frame you? Even if she wanted to frame someone, she should have framed me," Wendy Starling asked, puzzled.

Charles Taylor’s gaze deepened slightly. Naturally, it was because of Constantine Stewart.

Charles Taylor was not familiar with Lolita, but he understood Chloe. Even without witnessing the scene, he knew very well a girl would not do such a thing — someone who comes to participate in a program carrying five pounds of purified water, pots and pans, or a girl so poor she cannot afford tuition, with melancholy in her eyes, yet smiles sweetly in the live broadcast.

The more Charles Taylor interacted with Chloe Winston, the more he understood her and admired her. She was like a cactus growing in the desert; no matter how harsh the environment, she would bloom with vibrant flowers and strive to survive.

"You’re unaware, but I’m sure the reason is because she is jealous of Chloe— scumbag and slut," Desmond Wood cursed softly, restricted by being in public, unable to mention the relationship between Chloe Winston and Constantine Stewart.

"Alright, everyone has been tired all day. Let’s eat and rest early. Once the filming is done tomorrow, we can go home," Chloe Winston said with a smile.

The three were speechless suddenly—how big could one’s heart be?

Although Lolita’s injury wasn’t serious, and the person involved didn’t pursue it further, the crew saw that nothing major happened and wrapped up to rest.

Soon nightfall set in, and Chloe Winston unexpectedly couldn’t sleep, nor could Wendy Starling. The two were in their tent, lying in silence, until Constantine Stewart’s cold voice called from outside: "Chloe, come out for a moment."

Wendy Starling was startled, trembling as she got up. Her expression changed, and she whispered, "Is he here to condemn you? Should I tell him you’re already asleep?"

Chloe Winston nodded, remembering Constantine Stewart’s scene of holding Lolita, applying medicine to her, and comforting her quietly, feeling slightly bewildered inside with a hint of pain. He was always gentle with women, not just her.

The so-called goodness over the years was actually no different when switched to another woman.

"Mr. Stewart, Chloe is asleep. Can’t we talk about this tomorrow?" Wendy Starling said daringly, softly.

"If you don’t come out, I’ll come in," the man’s voice was cold, containing a dark threat.

Seeing that evasion was impossible, Chloe Winston got up, grabbed a coat from beside her feet, put it on, and was about to go out.

"Chloe, should I go call someone?" Wendy Starling said anxiously.

Chloe Winston shook her head and said, "I’ll be back soon."

Constantine Stewart had a temperament that was unpredictable; if things escalated, it would be hard to control.

Chloe Winston came out of the tent, seeing a crescent moon hanging at the edge of the sky, the desert vast and silent, all sounds gone. The man was in pajamas, casually draped in a coat, standing at the side, his handsome face slightly somber. When he saw her come out, he grabbed her arm and pulled her to walk farther away.

"If you have something to say, say it here," Chloe Winston, being dragged stumblingly and unable to match his pace, said coldly, "If you came for Lolita, I won’t apologize."

Constantine Stewart’s figure abruptly stopped, he turned to look at her, fine-boned and awe-inducing, a commonly smiling face penetrating deep gloom and murkiness. The man looked at her emaciated face under the moonlight, unconsciously gripping her small face with his fingers, and said lowly, "Weren’t you always the daring one? These years, you’ve left various injuries on me. What did you do to Lolita? Or could it be you’re unwilling?"

With each word Constantine Stewart spoke, Chloe Winston’s face paled a fraction more. She gazed coldly at the man before her, not wishing to remind him of what kind of woman his cherished Lolita truly was. Who was Constantine Stewart? Would he be blind to those petty tricks? He simply wholeheartedly trusted Lolita, never willing to doubt her.

"I hurt your precious girl, so, what is Mr. Stewart planning to do with me this time? Blacklist me? Or push me down from here to bury me in the sand?" She retorted unyieldingly, chuckling coldly.

She had already been ostracized, having nothing, yet why would these two still not let her go?

Constantine Stewart’s face grew colder, anger filling his eyes as he looked at her icy, stubborn little face, wishing he could smash her rebellious nature so it would grow anew. If she would explain just once, he would trust her, but she never did.

The man’s slender, strong fingers clasped around her delicate neck, his gaze ice-cold, speaking deeply, "I’ve taught you for six years, but you still didn’t learn how to speak to me. Your wings have hardened, huh?"

Constantine Stewart was burning with rage. He was infuriated by her attitude. Only after a while did he notice something amiss, and he released her, slightly alarmed, asking, "Chloe, what’s wrong?"

Chloe Winston breathed heavily, pushed him away, collapsed to the ground, her body covered in cold sweat, nauseous and retching, her vision blurred. For a moment, she only felt she was in Hell.

Constantine Stewart watched her complexion gradually recover, leaned down, his gaze deepened thinking of her previous reaction, stretched his hand to grab her slender waist, seeing her discomfort as she closed her eyes, sweat on her forehead.

The man’s fingertips trembled slightly, saying with measured anger, "Because I touched you, you became this unwell?"

"Correct." Chloe Winston smiled faintly, hoarsely speaking, "Constantine Stewart, I can accept any man in the world now, except you."

Chloe Winston only realized just now how seriously ill her body was. The sweetness over those years turned into such severe illness now.
