Chapter 1387 - 1383: The Chloe Winston Juggernaut Can’t Be Moved
Due to the abandoned military base, the town is riddled with traces of war. Later, it was repurposed as a film location, further adding to its chaotic mix of elements, looking as desolate as if overwhelmed by a zombie horde.
Chloe Winston didn’t dare to directly enter the town’s houses with Wendy Starling. According to zombie law, when the apocalypse strikes, humans are infected by the virus overnight, making everywhere unsafe, especially indoors. There might be a zombie lurking in the kitchen or bathroom.
They chose relatively secluded paths, constantly scouring the terrain and searching for supplies outside.
The planning and construction of this town were excellent, with neat houses. The town center features a sprawling hospital. Since only two unarmed female guests arrived, the crew completely underestimated Chloe and the others, showing lax vigilance.
Although Chloe’s performance in the last two episodes was impressive, at best, it indicated her good wilderness survival skills. Now they faced fifty zombies; spotting the slightest movement, capturing two delicate little stars would be a cinch. Moreover, the female guests were entirely unaware of this episode’s mission or game rules. In such a weak position, almost everyone predicted that Chloe and Wendy were walking right into a trap.
Staff focused on the town’s detached little house, with four powerful male guests who were far from weaklings waiting to break out eventually; they just waited to torment them.
Thus, with the staff relaxed, Chloe and Wendy found two packs of supplies and a weapon cache. Advancing further, they’d encounter a dense swarm of zombies.
"Wendy, do you have any ideas?" Chloe handed her a supply pack as they sat in a narrow alley, ate something, drank water, and refueled. Having flown in early this morning, apart from a plane meal, they’d eaten nothing else.
"I’ll follow your lead; I never watch zombie movies or apocalypse novels." Wendy hugged the gun she carried, having spent half a day scrounging for supplies with Chloe, her pretty face now covered in grime, bemoaning the hardship.
"There are too many zombies for us to handle. My shooting skills aren’t that fast. The most crucial thing is to figure out the game rules." Chloe drew the recently scouted map on the ground, speaking softly, "We easily reached this town, yet no male guests in sight. They must be trapped. There are at least twenty zombies outside this house, and judging by the way they’re fixated, the men are most likely inside."
"Then should we take out the twenty zombies to rescue them?" Wendy asked nervously, taking a sip of water.
Chloe thought if Constantine Stewart were inside, he wouldn’t need saving; that man is truly awful, and she wasn’t keen to rescue him, thinking a day’s hunger wouldn’t kill him.
"Not rescuing; men shouldn’t need female guests to save them. It would hurt their pride. We’re looking for this episode’s mission completion task." Chloe said decisively. "We scouted the town outskirts into its circular layout, with a hospital at the center—formerly a military base and an important strategic location. We should check the hospital, possibly spending the night there."
A-list star Wendy, typically addressed as Miss Wendy or Miss Starling, was now listening attentively to Chloe’s insightful analysis. Akin to a timid quail, she followed Chloe contentedly; hearing the plan not to rescue the male guests, she became oddly excited, whispering, "Chloe, I’m a bit thrilled."
Chloe slung the supply pack over her shoulder, looking at Wendy’s grimy face, casually wiped her own with her sleeve, and gleamed, "I’m thrilled too. Though this show requires teamwork, the crew didn’t disclose game rules. What if I suddenly wanted to trip up the male guests?"
Feeling like tricking Constantine Stewart.
The two filming photographers silently lit candles in their hearts for the male guests, while live-stream viewers laughed hysterically.
"Ahhhh, I want to rave about this episode of the show. Such a big production! The crew really put effort into it; seeing those adorable zombies makes me laugh uncontrollably."
"Hahaha, zombies are genuinely acting painstakingly, and my girl is really charming and beautiful."
"Ahhhh, the goddess’s expression of disdain for the male guests is ridiculously cute."
"Hahahaha, saving someone would hurt the male guests’ pride. I give this reasoning 100 points. Clearly, the girl didn’t want to save them, yet I adore her bad-boy behavior so much~!
"The goddess is inhumanly attractive, sobbing, frantically calling."
"Male guests, you must strive! You must strive!"
"Hahaha, looks like the crew is going to flop. My girl can take out a whole group by herself, no sweat."
Her detractors emerged resiliently.
"Chloe is too arrogant, knowing the four teammates are inside but refusing to save them, going solo at the hospital is utter foolishness."
"Exactly, all looks, no brains. Does she think she’s the savior? Going alone to the hospital, it’s hilarious."
"Upstairs, you’re a keyboard warrior, mocking relentlessly. Go face twenty zombies; you’d likely hide in the plane like Little Rodger."
"Hahaha, certainly a fan of Little Rodger; better stay with your idol and hide than show your face in shame."
"Little Rodger should stick to playing a vase. Survival reality shows don’t suit her; her shortcomings are glaring."
"Hahaha, wasn’t this show meant to tailor Little Rodger? Are you sure it wasn’t made to expose her flaws?"
Hiding in the plane, Little Rodger was unaware of the online communal taunting. Typically, female guests are deemed weak and protected in such shows. Little Rodger’s behavior was considered average, not much of a scandal. Unfortunately, she ran into daring, proactive, and astute Chloe, who decisively drove into town, collecting a pile of supplies and weapons, instantly overshadowing Little Rodger, turning her into the butt of jokes.
Starshine Media executives watched the live-stream glumly; this was turning out to be a PR disaster. Little Rodger’s incompetence was glaring; who arranged for Chloe to join? It’s as if all female guests were set up to be backup dancers.
Starshine Media execs held an emergency meeting, seeking to salvage Little Rodger’s rapidly waning image as the iconic first love.
"Chloe is heavily backed by ClearStone Corporation. Reportedly, Delphine Carter’s studio sponsored generously for Chloe’s participation; even Desmond Wood volunteered for free for the show’s filming." Insiders, feeling awkward, reported.
"Moreover, it’s said that actor Charles Taylor participated in recording due to Chloe."
"Given Chloe’s current high popularity, even if we switched her out, not only would we confront ClearStone’s backlash but also countless feisty online fans. The crucial part is Mr. Constantine being part of the show; deciphering his intentions is anyone’s guess."
Mr. Constantine hasn’t spoken up, appearing that Chloe remains untouchable.
Starshine Media executives fell silent; Little Rodger was thoroughly defeated this time.
