Chapter 1445 - 1439: A Strange Man Came Into My House
Director Liu exchanged a look with Professor Wu, then they both snapped their gazes toward Chloe Winston.
Chloe’s face flushed scarlet in an instant. She wanted to explain, but was afraid the more she explained, the messier it would get, and that it would make her look too uptight, so she just ducked her head and started eating hard.
Chloe almost felt like she was going to die of a heart attack over this meal, while Constantine Stewart was like a fish in water. Sitting in his wheelchair, his bearing was by no means lower than anyone else’s, speaking with a noble, elegant ease.
Constantine’s outlook and experiences could be written into a legendary book, and the man was eloquent to boot. In the time it took to eat a meal, he effortlessly won over Director Liu and his wife.
By the time Director Liu and Professor Wu walked them home, Chloe’s face had already turned the color of pig liver.
"Chloe, a man this good, you really have to seize the chance. Mr. Stewart is no ordinary person." Professor Wu pulled her aside to quietly remind her, looking like she’d just discovered a gold mine.
Chloe gave a faint smile, not in the mood to talk.
"Mr. Stewart, come over for a meal when you have time. We didn’t take good enough care of you today, we’ll be sure to make it up to you next time." Over there, Director Liu was chatting with Constantine, reluctant to part. If the man hadn’t said it was getting late, he’d probably be dragging Constantine off to play chess by now.
Only after the couple finished reminding them left and right did they finally leave.
Once Chloe could no longer see Director Liu and his wife, the smile on her face instantly collapsed. Seeing Constantine sitting in his wheelchair in the living room, relaxed and at ease, she was so angry her liver hurt. She directly dialed the security office and said coolly, "Security, there’s a strange man in my home."
Constantine "Strange Man" Stewart raised his brows slightly at that, knowing she was truly furious tonight—especially when a woman’s on her period, she’s not going to reason with you at all.
Constantine lowered his eyes, his handsome, refined face showing a rare hint of puzzlement; getting injured really did knock a few points off his looks.
"I just came over to check on you, I’ll leave right away. Remember to lock your doors and windows when you’re home alone tonight." Constantine pressed the automatic control on his wheelchair, glanced at the little girl standing to the side, clutching a heat patch in her arms and looking highly guarded. He hesitated, then said coolly, "I’ll come check on you again tomorrow."
After speaking, Constantine rolled out the door and called his driver.
It wasn’t fully dark yet. The man waited quietly in the fresh, lovely little garden, sitting with his back straight. When the two security guards rushed over with batons in hand, they froze at the sight of such a noble, refined man.
He’d arrived in an extended Rolls-Royce; there wasn’t another car like that in the whole complex. Plus, they’d received special instructions that if he came, they were not to stop him and must treat him as a VIP.
The security guards suddenly felt a bit guilty and called out, "Miss Chloe, are you alright?"
Chloe opened the door, poked out her fair, soft little face, and said in a milky-soft voice that she was fine, they just needed to see him out.
The two guards looked at each other, then answered, grinning from ear to ear, and cautiously asked, "Mr. Stewart, would you like us to escort you out?"
"Mm. My driver will be at the main gate in five minutes." Constantine spoke with a cool, noble air, his peripheral vision sweeping over the door behind him.
The little girl drew back her pretty face and slammed the door shut with a bang. The evening breeze skimmed across the lake opposite, carrying a faint floral scent through the air, while the flowers and plants in the little garden beamed in the wind.
Autumn is the season of harvest; it was about time he reaped something too. Constantine lowered his eyes, the corner of his lips curling into a smile. He’d be back again tomorrow!
