Chapter 1446 - 1440: My Ex-Husband’s Gone Crazy Again

Constantine Stewart’s shameless visit finally made Chloe Winston feel a sense of crisis. She’d thought his trip back to France meant he’d figured things out and would stop clinging to his ex‑wife, but in just a few months he’d reverted to his old self.

She didn’t believe for a second this man would suddenly have a great awakening and fall in love with her out of nowhere.

Chloe sat on the sofa, watching how Constantine had managed, in just one evening, to infiltrate the inner circle of her place and get along with the neighbors even better than she did. She instantly started missing the days when Finnian was around—if Finnian were here, Constantine wouldn’t dare be so blatant.

She sent Finnian a message and said listlessly: "My ex‑husband is having another episode."

It wasn’t night yet where Finnian was. This business trip of his wasn’t that heavy, more like a vacation really. He saw the message and replied in seconds.

"Constantine came looking for you?" Finnian hadn’t interacted much with Constantine and didn’t really understand this man, but he looked like that deep, unfathomable, hard‑to‑mess‑with type. Seeing Chloe come to him for help, Finnian couldn’t help suspecting whether his own going abroad had something to do with Constantine as well.

"Yeah." Chloe didn’t want to say much, just felt stifled. She really didn’t get it—damn it, they were already divorced, they’d already slept together, so why was he still haunting her like a ghost? Before, the Shaw Family had helped her keep Constantine in check, but Chloe didn’t feel she should bother Leah Squire over such trivial stuff anymore.

Strictly speaking, Constantine and the Shaw Family were the ones who were actually related. She was just an outsider.

"I kicked him out." Chloe typed out a line and sent it. She was an orphan, with no parents or brothers. Ever since Finnian showed up in her life he’d been looking out for her, so she instinctively reached out to him. But once she realized something was off, she quickly changed the subject. She couldn’t depend on other people—her own mess had to be cleaned up by herself.

Finnian didn’t say much either, just told her he’d be back in a few days.

That night Chloe slept terribly. Early the next morning she packed up all her luggage and decided to stay at a hotel near the set, dragging Little Qiu along to stay with her for courage.

When Chloe arrived at the set, she saw Lisa running over excitedly, saying, "Chloe, guess what Roy Yi did yesterday?"

"She went to see you?" Chloe could roughly guess what Roy Yi had done.

"Her agent called me last night, first threatened me, then tried to buy my silence. I took this amount." Lisa held up five fingers, wiggling them, face alight with pride. She’d never really planned to spill Roy Yi’s background anyway—after all, she herself had faked her background.

"Fifty thousand?" Chloe widened her eyes and asked in a low voice.

Lisa’s smile grew even brighter. She lowered her voice and said, "Five hundred thousand. I really underestimated her. She’s that rich? I agreed on the spot. With this five hundred grand plus what I’ve saved over the years, I’m going to start a small business and get out of the Entertainment Sector. I’m not young anymore, and after all these years I never made it big. There’s no way I’m going to get popular going forward."

Chloe knew that in this circle, if you didn’t have backing, you practically couldn’t move an inch—so many hidden rules. Lisa had been around for so long and still managed to keep her original personality; that was rare.

"What business are you planning to do?" Chloe was very supportive of her decision. She herself had once thought about opening a flower shop, living a quiet, ordinary life. But starting from age fifteen, her life path had kept shifting—first being adopted by Constantine, then forced into streaming because she was dirt poor, and eventually ending up on the acting route.

"A toy store. I like kids," Lisa said with a laugh.

"I’ll fight for a few more years, then I’ll retire and open a flower shop too," Chloe said, a bit envious.

"You should just focus on being a star and hopefully win the Actress award. You’re not like me, Chloe." Lisa stared at her beautiful, clear, crystal‑like little face and said with emotion, "My scenes in this production wrapped a long time ago. There’s nothing left for an extra like me to keep doing. I’m leaving after I settle my pay today. If Roy Yi storms back in later, remember to call me. When it comes to dealing with her, I’ll handle it. Don’t dirty your hands."

Chloe’s eyes flickered slightly, then she nodded and said, "Thank you, Lisa."

Lisa smiled and went off to have her pay settled with the crew. She left that very day. Chloe knew kids like them were born unlucky, struggling just to survive. They’d learned to take everything lightly; meeting and parting were both normal.

Because she’d been staying in the hotel these days, Constantine had reined himself in a little. He still checked in every day but didn’t show up in person, only had Zane Gu deliver things. What he sent each day depended on his mood: maybe a bunch of flowers snipped straight from the garden at home, or dinner desserts, or the jewelry he’d once given her. Every time there’d be some old item mixed in, like a couple photo, or that furry green turtle. Chloe tossed the flowers and had the crew eat the food. She ripped the photos down the middle and sent his half back along with the jewelry.

After Finnian returned, Chloe still hadn’t moved back home. The whole crew was about to head out to Xiangnan for location shooting.

"Mr. Stewart, the crew’s departure date has been set. We’re flying to Xiangnan tomorrow at noon." These days Zane Gu had been running to the private residence on Fulham Road every day. Ever since Mr. Stewart returned from Paris, his mood had been pretty good, bored enough to actually deal with work every day.

Constantine was drawing. On the table lay half a torn photo, and he was drawing the other half. It was clearly a chibi version of Chloe Winston—big, sparkling eyes, rosy little face, tiny body with a big head, unspeakably cute. But put together with the photo of the handsome, refined Mr. Stewart, the two looked strangely mismatched.

Zane glanced at it a few times. When he felt Mr. Stewart’s displeased gaze sweep over, he quickly dropped his eyes and forced down the curve tugging at his lips.

"Mr. Stewart, all the luggage is packed," the butler said with a smile, lugging two 28‑inch luxury suitcases into the hall.

"Mm." Constantine nodded.

Zane hurriedly added, "Mr. Stewart, the villa at the Holiday Village in Xiangnan has already been rented. When the time comes, everyone in the crew can stay there."

Chloe was heading to Xiangnan for about two months of shooting. Not only was Mr. Stewart bringing the maids and chefs from home, he’d specially rented a villa at the Xiangnan Holiday Village. Once the crew finished filming, they could move straight into the ultra‑luxury resort and enjoy top‑tier service.

Mr. Stewart had now officially become the production’s biggest sugar daddy investor.

"You all go get ready for tomorrow’s trip. We’ll be there for about one to two months. If something comes up midway, you can always come back." Constantine waved his hand, sending them off to make arrangements, then stuck the chibi Chloe Winston together with his own photo and set them in a jewelry box.

The next day at noon, the crew gathered and chartered a plane to Xiangnan.

Chloe went with Little Qiu in tow.

Yu Sitian had brought an assistant too. When she saw Chloe, her eyes lit up and she rushed over, saying mysteriously, "I’ve got a piece of top‑secret gossip. Want to hear it?"
