Chapter 1359 - 1355: He Was Born Heartless, a Devil
The evening’s small gathering ended on a sour note. Chloe Winston returned to the tent, changed into her pajamas, and found Wendy Starling staring at her excitedly, eyes flickering with gossip.
"A-Chu, do you really dislike Scarlett Lee?"
Chloe nodded; she indeed disliked her. After all, this woman had taken away many things from her.
"Then snatch Constantine Stewart from her, that’ll infuriate Scarlett Lee," Wendy said with a mysterious smile. "I noticed Constantine hasn’t really looked at us, but he was watching you the whole time. You’re beautiful, have a great figure, and there’s something captivating about you. If you make a move, you’ll definitely succeed."
"That man is a devil." Chloe fell silent for a moment and then said flatly. She didn’t know if Constantine Stewart cared about anyone or anything in this world. During their six years together, Constantine never mentioned his family or past, but Chloe knew the Stewart Family had long since migrated to France, and Constantine occasionally returned there.
She once thought he had an estranged relationship with his family and returned to develop within the country. However, when Constantine turned cold and ruthless, Chloe vaguely understood that he was innately heartless; his nature made him a devil.
Wendy didn’t take it seriously, laughed aloud, and said, "Mr. Stewart said he wouldn’t blacklist you anymore, so don’t view him as the Imperial City’s social elite. See him as just a man, and he doesn’t seem that terrifying."
Chloe’s dark eyes fixed on her for a moment, then she said, "Wendy, let’s sleep. We’ve got to record the program tomorrow. It’ll be bad to have dark circles."
"In this perverse reality show, my thirty-plus years of goddess image have been entirely ruined, and you still worry about dark circles?" When Wendy mentioned live recording, she became annoyed, deciding to soak in the bathtub for a week after enduring these three days. "A-Chu, how can you bring so many practical daily items?"
"Because I have no one else to rely on," Chloe said coolly, then crawled into her sleeping bag, closed her eyes, and slept.
"Do you still want to enter the entertainment sector? I see Charles Taylor treats you well, you’ll definitely become a hit when you return."
"A-Chu, have you fallen asleep so quickly?" Wendy mumbled, then seeing she was silent, she also crawled into her sleeping bag to sleep.
The next day’s filming began with everyone setting out on the road again.
Two days and one night of difficult travel; participants were either noble descendants or superstar icons. These pampered individuals couldn’t endure such hardship. Even the two athletes, accustomed to constant training, found it unbearable due to physical exhaustion, harsh conditions, and the need for recording and filming. After two days, all the female guests, except Chloe, were like wilted eggplants, completely downcast.
The group couldn’t ride camels all the time. The camels had to carry luggage and needed rest. While male guests carried and supported their official couple partners, they did everything possible to help them forward.
"Wendy, what did you eat growing up, why are you so heavy?" Desmond Wood was originally planning to carry Wendy, but after a little effort, he ended up buried in the yellow sand, struggling to get up, drawing laughter from everyone.
Wendy, sitting on the ground, laughing heartily, jokingly said, "I grew up eating rice, little brother, your physical fitness is lacking!"
"Director, I protest, I want to change my partner," Desmond shouted in frustration.
The two athletes who stopped were also laughing at Desmond, whose head was buried in the sand looking like a large ostrich, unable to straighten their waists due to laughter. The most fun was watching teammates suffer more than each other; this kind of joy built on others’ pain was most irresistible.
In the live chat, fans watched their normally perfect idols abandon their burdens, letting go of themselves, each looking worse than the other, turning it into a misery-selling conference, laughing like fools.
"Desmond and Wendy are comical rivals endlessly providing laughter."
"Desmond is just a clown; the crew’s humor anchor. With him here, it’s so fun!"
"Desmond, get up quickly, being ridden by a woman will keep you down for life, ooooh."
"Hahahahahaha, still, my Charlie is the best. Chloe, the queen throughout, crushes all other female guests."
"My goddess is like a legendary figure in Rivers and Lakes, beating official games in three days; for her, this survival show is pressure-free."
"I think Mr. Stewart’s performance is fantastic, he didn’t complain once, and remained so elegant and handsome throughout, oooh oooh, I’m gonna become Mr. Stewart’s face fan."
"Wake up upstairs, this person is the entertainment sector’s mastermind behind the scenes; doesn’t enter the industry."
"Why doesn’t Chloe have a Weibo account? I really want to follow her."
"It’s said she’s blacklisted; if you want to follow the goddess, go to her live channel. She’ll open another live stream after the variety show finishes filming."
"Ooooh, I’m coming immediately."
"Support Miss Chloe returning to the entertainment sector, oppose unjust blacklists."
Fans in the live chat had sharp eyes; over the past two days, Chloe attracted lots of fans. Whether with her cool leather jacket, delicate features, or carrying the dozens of pounds of survival supplies, everything she did emitted an aura of a big shot, noble and understated.
If Chloe had a Weibo account, it would be gaining followers wildly at this point. Instead, Scarlett Lee became the weakest vase among the female guests. But Constantine Stewart’s unexpected strength allowed their pair to have the second-highest popularity, only second to Chloe and Charles Taylor.
By the second day’s evening, each couple had raised 5 million in funding, and the program group air-dropped 2 kilograms of supplies.
The supplies air-dropped by the group were random, allowing everyone to engage in barter trade.
Charles Taylor and Desmond Wood went to pitch tents, while Chloe and Wendy unpacked supplies. Halfway through, Scarlett Lee came over.
"What are you here for?" Wendy, seeing the livestream camera was filming Constantine Stewart and no one focused here, sneered with a cold shoulder, looking at Scarlett Lee with an unfriendly tone.
"I came to find Chloe," Scarlett Lee snorted coldly, then turned to Chloe and said, "Chloe, I have something to tell you."
After unpacking the supplies and calculating the remaining items, Chloe found there were more than enough to last till tomorrow evening’s filming, so she looked up at Scarlett Lee.
Scarlett Lee had finally changed into sportswear, her complexion somewhat haggard but still stirringly attractive enough to evoke men’s protective urges.
"Let’s go over there," Chloe pointed to a small sand dune not far away and said evenly.
The two of them avoided the cameras and walked toward the small sand dune one after the other.
Looking at Chloe’s cut-short hair, her elegant and graceful backside, and thinking of the assistant’s secret message earlier, Scarlett Lee realized Chloe’s popularity ranked first among all the guests, even surpassing Charles Taylor’s, while her Weibo followers were plummeting.
Before the variety show concluded, Chloe might be able to return to the entertainment sector.
