Chapter 358: Upper Hand
Diana stood before the door to Victoria’s room.
When she had heard about Victoria having engaged in some fight, Diana had absent-mindedly decided to check up on her.
It was a sort of instinctive feeling due to being present in a body that cared a lot for the well-being of her friends and family.
In normal circumstances, Diana was able to control such instincts with ease, but since the time that Nemur had gazed on her room, she had not been able to calm herself.
Even the smallest possibility of Nemur discovering her existence was disastrous for her.
Diana had to know about the reason behind Nemur’s intense interest in Kael, or else being close to the kid would end up against her interests.
She couldn’t afford to have Nemur keep her under surveillance at all times
But all those things aside, now that she had walked here to meet Victoria, she would have to focus on the things at hand.
Still, even with her thoughts sorted out, Diana hesitated whether she should really visit Victoria even without bringing Alicia along with her.
She hadn’t had the thought earlier, because her mind was preoccupied with the other matters pertaining to her entire existence.
Now that she was here... Diana couldn’t help but facepalm due to her stupidity.
Victoria was a friend of hers, so coming to check up on her shouldn’t have been an unusual thing. But knowing her body’s nature... she would have surely brought Alicia with her.
Diana was sure that Kael would have found her behaviour weird. Now that the damage was done, she only hoped that Kael wouldn’t dwell on it, and the matter would be lost in the past—
"Diana?"
Just as Diana was about to knock on the door, a very familiar voice questioned her from behind.
Stabilising the expression on her face, Diana turned around with raised brows, as if surprised by the unexpected arrival of her friend—
"Are you here to meet Sister?"
Alicia quickly walked towards Diana before looking around.
"And did you come alone? You could have asked me to tag along with you."
Alicia pouted.
"I... I forgot about it."
Diana gave an awkward chuckle, though she didn’t make any effort to apologise.
"If your reunion is over, then let’s go."
Kevin’s sarcastic voice made Diana give him a brief glance, but she didn’t even care to acknowledge his presence before shifting her attention to the rest of the group who had tagged along with Alicia.
Diana faintly smiled at them... particularly at Amelia and Vienna, who stood at the side, silently observing the drama between the humans of the Veltran Empire.
Everyone could see the complicated dynamics between them.
Knock. Knock.
"Sister, it’s me."
Alicia was quick to knock on the door, as the rest of the group stood behind her in silence.
There was a long pause, before—
"Come in."

"He will have to apologise to you."
Alicia firmly expressed herself, leaving Victoria unable to change her opinion.
After the initial greetings, Alicia had asked Victoria to describe everything in detail.
Victoria, on her part, had just stated the reason behind their fight as being a misunderstanding of sorts.
Alicia could tell that her sister was lying, but had no way to confirm the facts herself.
Maybe she would have to ask Noah later on.
"Trust me, it wasn’t his mistake."
Victoria tried to reason with Alicia, but the latter had closed her eyes, as if unwilling to listen.
Currently, besides Alicia and Victoria... Ella was present in the room along with Kevin and Diana.
The rest of the group had long left after checking up on their vice president and knowing that the Frost siblings had a lot to discuss amongst themselves.
"Noah is currently in the infirmary. You should check up on him."
Victoria gently patted Alicia’s head as she uttered those words—
"If he had wanted the fight so badly, then it’s only right for him to stay there."
Alicia firmly stated her belief, though Victoria knew that it was just a facade.
The little girl was just trying to act nonchalant, but when Victoria had described her fight with Noah and the injury that he had suffered at the end... she could easily see the anxiety in Alicia’s eyes.
Honestly, Victoria wasn’t offended by Alicia’s reaction.
She in no way was the kind of person who would want her sister to break her friendship with someone only because her older sister had a fight with him.
That was why, to reduce the subconscious guilt in Alicia’s mind, Victoria had downplayed the situation as a sort of misunderstanding between Noah and her, and even when Alicia had repeatedly questioned her about the exact reason behind their fight... Victoria had stayed consistent with her answer.
She could have easily painted Noah to be the villain in everything that had happened, and Alicia would have easily believed her.
But Victoria didn’t want her sister’s personal life to be affected due to her own ambitions.
"And what about that bastard?"
Kevin didn’t utter any specific name, but everyone in the room could tell who he was referring to.
Victoria gave Kevin a brief glance as she stared into his eyes, which had a visible hatred in them while mentioning Kael.
During their childhood, Kevin was someone who had always looked up to Kael.
For him, Kael was a sort of person that he wanted to become.
Someone who could help everyone during their times of need... someone on whom people could depend.
But time had always been a cruel thing for mortals.
At the moment, Victoria couldn’t see even the slightest hint of respect in Kevin’s eyes for his brother.
And why would he even respect someone who was so willing to abandon them, even without caring for what the people around him would have felt after his sudden decision to leave their house for good?
"The fight between Kael and Noah had ended up in a sort of stalemate... though from what I witnessed, I would say that Kael had the upper hand."
