Chapter 73: Spiritual Power Fusion
Sophie Wexler never expected to reach SS-level; for a moment, she was stunned.
Her gaze shifted to the table at her side, where countless depleted Crystal Stone Cores lay, having lost all their original luster.
"These..." Sophie Wexler hesitated. "I used all of these?"
When she had just checked her Spiritual Sea, she’d found her spiritual power was completely full.
It had clearly been depleted after fighting The Swarm and saving everyone, but now it was full. One could only imagine how many Crystal Stones that must have taken.
’Right, it was completely depleted back then.’
Sophie Wexler remembered something and whipped her head toward Cillian Forrest. "Back when I was saving everyone, didn’t I absorb a lot of your spiritual power? Are you okay? How are you now?"
"I’m fine." Cillian Forrest lowered his gaze and said calmly, "The Medical Master has already examined me."
Indeed, after the Medical Master from The First Legion arrived, he didn’t just check on Sophie Wexler’s condition; he also treated Cillian Forrest.
Back then, after examining his Spiritual Sea, the chief Medical Master had snapped, "This is madness!"
Cillian Forrest’s Spiritual Sea had always been under his care. Although there was no compatible Healer-class, they had been doing their best to control the rampages and toxins in his Spiritual Sea with medication.
But who would have thought that this time, the Marshal would disregard his own safety and mobilize so much spiritual power? It was tantamount to treating his life as a disposable resource.
It was utter madness!
Cillian Forrest knew the man was worried about him, so he let him scold away without retorting.
He hadn’t lied to Sophie Wexler. For the past few days, he had indeed been receiving the relevant treatment.
Sophie Wexler studied his expression. "Let me see."
’She’d figured it out. The toughest part of this man was his mouth. Who knew if he was telling the truth?’
As she spoke, she took Cillian Forrest’s hand in hers. The entire motion was fluid and incredibly deft.
Cillian Forrest looked at their joined hands but didn’t stop her.
Sophie Wexler carefully probed Cillian Forrest’s Spiritual Sea. A moment later, she looked up and glared at him. "You call this ’fine’?"
His Spiritual Sea was a complete mess. Anyone else would have collapsed long ago, but here he was, acting as if it were nothing, not a hint of emotion on his face.
"It’s not a big deal. It won’t kill me."
"Shut up," Sophie Wexler snapped, her voice tinged with emotion. "Did I save you just so you could go die? Do I look like I have nothing better to do?"
"Don’t move. I’ll soothe it for you." Seeing that Cillian Forrest was about to speak, Sophie Wexler glared back at him. "No refusing."
Cillian Forrest looked at her determined expression and chuckled. "I wasn’t going to refuse. Since Miss Wexler insists, I can only respectfully obey."
Sophie Wexler huffed lightly. "That’s more like it."
With that, she slowly infused her spiritual power into Cillian Forrest’s Spiritual Sea.
Unlike before, it was noticeably easier this time, perhaps because her Level had increased.
As she helped more people by soothing and cleansing their Spiritual Seas, she had become much more proficient.
Sophie Wexler followed her usual steps, soothing the spiritual power rampages and clearing out the toxins within.
Her gentle spiritual power enveloped it—soothing, separating, and cleansing.
She proceeded slowly, step by step, until she began to feel the strain.
"Alright, that’s enough for now." Cillian Forrest’s voice cut in, stopping her.
Sophie Wexler knew that if Cillian Forrest objected, she definitely wouldn’t be able to get any deeper into his Spiritual Sea. She had no choice but to give up and slowly withdraw her spiritual power.
Just as she was pulling it out, Sophie Wexler suddenly let out a small "Huh?" "Your spiritual power seems to be..." She paused, searching for the right word. "...pulling at me, like it doesn’t want me to leave."
It wasn’t aggressive at all. His spiritual power was simply holding on to hers, entwined together, very gently.
But for some reason, this action stirred a strange feeling deep in her heart.
Cillian Forrest’s eyes paused. He too felt the anomaly in his own spiritual power.
Logically, this shouldn’t happen when a Healer-class unilaterally soothes someone. A situation like this...
Cillian Forrest narrowed his eyes. ’It’s a spiritual power convergence!’
’Isn’t a spiritual power convergence supposed to only happen between partners? How could this be?’
’Could it be because she absorbed my spiritual power before? Is that why this is happening?’
’My Spiritual Sea detected the part of me within her spiritual power, and that’s why...’
Cillian Forrest looked at Sophie Wexler’s confused expression, his eyes deep and profound, and controlled his spiritual power, forcing it to let go.
At first, his spiritual power seemed reluctant, but it couldn’t possibly resist Cillian Forrest’s command. In the end, it could only slowly, bit by bit, release its hold.
Only when the two entwined forces separated did Cillian Forrest speak, his voice deep and, if one listened closely, even carrying a trace of hoarseness. "A Healer-class’s spiritual power is gentle. Mine probably felt you soothing it and was reluctant to let you go."
Sophie Wexler nodded. "Oh, I see."
After saying that, she withdrew her spiritual power and decisively let go of his hand. She rose from her seat, stretched her stiff muscles, and let out a big stretch. "Lying down for a few days has made my body feel all stiff."
Cillian Forrest glanced down at his palm, where the lingering warmth and sensation of her touch still seemed to remain.
Just then, there was a knock on the medical bay door. Cillian Forrest closed his hand into a fist and looked up. "Come in."
It was the Medical Master who had been checking on Sophie Wexler’s condition. He was just making his routine rounds and hadn’t expected to find her awake.
"Miss Wexler, you’re awake!"
Sophie Wexler nodded. "Yes."
Seeing this, the Medical Master immediately used his communicator to notify Felix York and the others.
For the past few days, the men from The Seventh Legion had nearly nagged him to death.
Those men didn’t dare disturb Sophie Wexler or Felix York, so they came to bother him instead.
Every so often, someone would come and ask if Sophie Wexler was awake yet. They kept coming, one after another, in different groups.
If Sophie Wexler hadn’t woken up soon, he was afraid his door would have been broken down by them.
"It’s good that you’re awake," the Medical Master sighed in relief. Then he said to her, "Miss Wexler, please lie down. I’m going to check your physical condition."
"Alright, thank you." After speaking, she lay down on the medical bed.
During the time Sophie Wexler was unconscious, the relevant instruments had been placed here to monitor her condition, so the examination was quick and convenient.
In just a short while, the examination was complete. The Medical Master glanced at the data. "Not bad. You’re recovering very well." He paused. "It’s just that..."
"Just what?" Cillian Forrest interjected almost immediately.
Seeing his reaction, the Medical Master smiled. "It’s nothing. It just seems she recently used her spiritual power. But that’s fine. It’s good to get used to it after a Level-up."
Hearing that, Sophie Wexler breathed a sigh of relief. ’That scared me to death. I thought something else was wrong.’
The Medical Master chuckled, but in the next second, Cillian Forrest lifted his gaze and shot him a look. The Medical Master’s smile vanished instantly.
