Chapter 47: Are You Worried About Me?
Sophie Wexler let out a huge sigh of relief after returning to her room.
She had never sung like that before, and to be honest, it was still a little strange.
Just as she was about to get a drink of water, someone grabbed her wrist as she turned.
Sophie Wexler’s beautiful eyes paused for a moment. She looked up at Cillian Forrest, who was holding her, and asked in confusion, "What’s wrong?"
The words had barely left her lips when she felt a surge of spiritual power rush toward her. The moment her Spiritual Sea detected the foreign power, it reacted instinctively.
She heard Cillian Forrest say in a deep voice, "Relax. Don’t resist me."
A person’s Spiritual Sea was the most important thing for a citizen of the Empire. Normally, no one would allow anyone but their closest relatives and friends to probe it.
But Sophie Wexler didn’t know this. After hearing Cillian Forrest’s words, she just said, "Oh," then relaxed and lowered her Spiritual Sea’s resistance against him.
’But... I don’t know if it’s because I’ve been in the Galaxy for a while, or if my Level has increased. Was my perception of spiritual power this sharp before?’
She could clearly feel a stream of spiritual power enter her Spiritual Sea. It carried an undeniable dominance, yet it was extremely restrained, careful not to harm her.
Sophie Wexler knew Cillian Forrest was examining her.
It was clearly a very normal procedure, but as his spiritual power swept through her Spiritual Sea, inch by inch, Sophie Wexler couldn’t help but feel as if she were being seen completely bare.
"Um, Cillian, are you done?" Sophie Wexler asked, a little awkwardly.
「A few seconds later.」
"Done." As soon as he spoke, Sophie Wexler felt Cillian’s spiritual power withdraw.
She couldn’t help but let out a breath.
"I’m fine, really. You don’t have to check on me like that." Sophie Wexler immediately looked up at Cillian and said, as if to cover up her recent awkwardness.
"Fine?" The man scoffed. "Your spiritual power is almost completely depleted. I’m sure you’re ’fine’."
"It’s not completely depleted yet," Sophie Wexler retorted softly.
"I know my limits." ’I’ve soothed Cillian before, so I know where my breaking point is,’ she thought. ’I should be fine.’
Hearing this, Cillian Forrest shot her a cool glance. He didn’t say anything else, instead turning to grab a Crystal Stone and place it in her hand.
Sophie Wexler sat on the sofa, holding the Crystal Stone and looking at Cillian’s cold, hard expression. She couldn’t help but let out a snort of laughter. "Cillian, are you worried about me?"
As she spoke, her almond-shaped eyes, shining brightly, were fixed on Cillian.
Cillian’s expression faltered upon hearing her words.
’She was clearly struggling just now, yet she persisted to soothe the soldiers. She didn’t have to push herself so hard. She’s completely different from how she used to be.’
Cillian frowned in irritation. After pressing his lips together, he said stiffly, "I’m not."
"I’m just afraid you’ll accidentally work yourself to death, and I’ll have to die along with you."
Sophie Wexler glanced at the neck ring hidden under his collar and accepted his explanation.
"Oh, okay," Sophie Wexler replied, then added under her breath, "In any case, I don’t think you hate me as much as you used to."
’I remember the cold killing intent in his eyes when I first transmigrated and met him.’
’Now, at most, he’s just all bark and no bite, plus a little bit of saying one thing and meaning another?’
’So, can’t I take that to mean he doesn’t hate me as much anymore?’
’No matter what he says, that’s how I’m going to interpret it. What’s he gonna do about it?’
"Just focus on absorbing your Crystal Stone." Cillian tossed out the sentence, then walked over to a chair on the other side of the room, sat down, and turned on his Light Brain.
Sophie Wexler hummed in agreement, gripping the Crystal Stone and absorbing it bit by bit as her mind went completely blank.
Before she knew it, the Crystal Stone in her hand was completely depleted.
Seeing this, Cillian, who was off to the side, frowned. He walked over, took the now-dull Crystal Stone from her hand, and replaced it with a new one.
"Don’t you know how to replace it yourself?"
Only then did Sophie Wexler realize the Crystal Stone had been fully absorbed.
After swapping the Crystal Stones, Cillian returned to his seat.
This time, Sophie Wexler didn’t dare let her mind wander again and focused on absorbing the Crystal Stone.
The room was quiet, and Sophie Wexler was even starting to feel a little bored. Suddenly, she seemed to think of something.
She immediately opened her Light Brain, logged into her account dashboard, and glanced at the total amount.
She hadn’t logged in to check the donations on her homepage in a long time. She hadn’t realized, but one look gave her a shock.
The total amount from all the gifts added up to over twelve million Star Coins.
Nearly ten million of those Star Coins had come from a single person.
It was from that tycoon who had donated to her during her recent stream.
’What a big spender!’
Such a massive donation put him right at the top of the gift leaderboard, so Sophie Wexler saw him immediately.
The profile picture was just a black mass—no, not completely black. If you looked closely, you could see tiny pinpricks of light.
It looked like a star system in the darkness, and the specks of light were like the stars within it.
The nickname was just a string of garbled characters, completely unreadable.
It was impossible to tell what kind of person he was from his profile picture and name, so Sophie Wexler simply tapped on his avatar to open his profile.
Her fingers tapped away on the screen, and soon she sent a message: [Hello, I’m the streamer you just donated to. I was wondering if you might have made a mistake with the amount?]
The next second, a message popped up on Cillian Forrest’s Light Brain.
He glanced at it, then looked up from a pile of files toward Sophie Wexler, who was sitting cross-legged on the sofa.
As she looked down at her screen, a lock of her long hair slowly slipped forward. She reached up to tuck it back, then her fingertips swiped back and forth across the screen, refreshing it.
"Why isn’t he messaging me back? Did he not see it?" Sophie Wexler wondered aloud.
Cillian Forrest averted his gaze.
The next second, a sound came from her direction. "He replied!"
On Sophie Wexler’s Light Brain screen was just a short line of text—or to be more precise, two words: [No mistake.]
Seeing this, Sophie Wexler continued typing: [I’m just a singing streamer. You don’t have to donate so much. Let me refund the money to you.]
’Even though I started streaming for the money,’ she thought, ’I can’t help but feel guilty accepting such a large donation.’
’It’s not like I’m so poor I can’t afford to eat anymore. There’s no need to take such a huge donation. It’s better to return it.’
Her fingers flew across the screen: [But I can only refund you sixty percent. The platform takes the rest. Is that okay?]
After Sophie Wexler sent the message, there was no reply for a long time. "Did he disappear?"
"That can’t be right, his online status is still active," Sophie Wexler muttered under her breath. "He’s there, so why isn’t he replying?"
Although her voice wasn’t loud, they were in the same room, so Cillian Forrest could hear everything. The man frowned slightly.
He typed a line of text on his Light Brain, sent it, and then immediately shut the device off.
Sophie Wexler received the message: [Not short on money. No need for a refund.]
Sophie Wexler: "???"
Sophie Wexler: "!!!"
’Are you just here to flex on me?!’
