Chapter 116: Marshal, Miss Wexler Left With Someone Else
A guitar?!!
There’s a guitar here?
Sophie Wexler hadn’t expected to see a guitar here. She had left hers back on Karath and hadn’t brought it with her, which made it inconvenient for her to play and sing recently.
’I can buy this one and take it home.’
With that in mind, Sophie Wexler walked over to it and looked up.
Her sales associate wasn’t around, so she sent them a message saying she also wanted a guitar.
The associate replied, "Ma’am, please wait a moment. I’ll be right there."
Sophie Wexler waited where she was, occasionally glancing up at the guitar. She was pleasantly surprised by its craftsmanship; the grain of the wood was beautiful.
Just then, two people walked over, their eyes also fixed on the guitar. One of them exclaimed in delight, "There really is one left!"
She waved over a nearby associate. "You, come over here. Get this down for me. I want to buy it."
The associate hurried over, but when she saw what the woman was pointing at, her face filled with apology. "I’m sorry, Miss, but this one has already been purchased. We just haven’t had the chance to take it down yet. My sincerest apologies."
After Sophie Wexler messaged her own associate, the guitar had been marked as sold in their system. Her associate simply hadn’t returned to retrieve it yet.
"Are there any others besides this one?" the woman asked.
"No, there aren’t," the associate said. "As you know, the ancient instrument, the guitar, has been extremely popular for the last six months. They sell out almost as soon as we stock them. This was the last one."
A craze for this ancient instrument had started in the middle of last year, originating with His Highness Shawn Thorne.
For some unknown reason, His Highness Shawn Thorne had insisted on hearing music played on an ancient instrument called a guitar.
At the time, the instrument was nowhere to be found on the market, which baffled everyone. But because it was a request from His Highness, people began to search for one with all their might.
It took a great deal of effort, but surprisingly, they actually managed to find one.
After that, many people jumped on the bandwagon and bought the ancient instrument, discovering it was exceptionally user-friendly and produced beautiful music. And so, the guitar craze began.
However, since very few original guitars had survived, they quickly ran out.
But as everyone knows, where there’s demand, there’s a market. And where there’s a market, major corporations will find a way to manufacture. After continuous research based on the structure of the original guitars, they actually succeeded in producing new ones.
However, they had only been available for a short time, and supply still couldn’t keep up with demand. Combined with scarcity marketing, every new shipment was swept clean the moment it was stocked.
Sophie Wexler had just gotten incredibly lucky, happening to be here for a new shipment.
Hearing this, the woman’s brow furrowed. "Someone bought it? Who?"
"The item is still here, which means it hasn’t been paid for. How can you say it’s been bought if there’s no payment?" the woman said at once. "Who is it? Tell them I’ll pay double the price. Sell it to me."
They had searched the entire mall and this was the only one they’d found. They had to have it.
The associate hesitated. "Well..."
"What’s there to hesitate about? This is the Thatcher Family’s precious daughter. Is there anything she wants that she can’t get?"
The associate was still conflicted. This went against their store’s policy, but she knew who she was dealing with. Duke Thatcher was a very powerful man.
’It’s better to offend a regular customer than these people.’ "Alright." The associate agreed and prepared to take the item down.
Sophie Wexler watched the scene unfold with a cold expression. She had planned to wait for her own associate to return, but it seemed she couldn’t wait any longer.
"Excuse me, but I’m the one who reserved that guitar."
A voice cut through the space.
The group in front turned to see Sophie Wexler standing not far away.
The one who was called Duke Thatcher’s daughter looked Sophie Wexler up and down.
"It’s you." Her tone was dripping with condescension.
Sophie Wexler frowned. ’I’m sure I’ve never met her before. This attitude is a bit strange.’
Noticing Sophie Wexler’s confused expression, the woman scoffed. "Someone who can’t even afford a common flying vehicle for transport wants to buy this guitar?"
Her voice was full of contempt. "Do you even know how much this guitar costs?"
Sophie Wexler laughed in exasperation. So, this person had seen her inquire about the flying vehicle earlier and then walk away, assuming she was some pauper.
"Look at you, so provincial. How dare you come here, you lowlife from a lower planet."
Sophie Wexler’s expression instantly hardened, a cold sneer in her eyes. "Are you gargling with laxatives?"
The woman was baffled by the unfamiliar term. "What?"
Sophie Wexler: "Because you’re spouting shit."
The area fell silent for a moment. The two women’s faces turned sour. Although they didn’t understand the term, the last part of Sophie’s insult gave them an indescribable feeling. ’Spouting what?’
But they were certain it was definitely an insult.
"I won’t stoop to your level, you lowlife. This guitar costs tens of millions of Star Coins, a number you probably couldn’t even dream of in your entire life."
She turned to the associate. "Get it down for me."
The associate glanced at Sophie Wexler, but ultimately reached for the guitar.
Sophie Wexler’s eyes darkened. She spoke in an icy voice, repeating herself. "I said, I’m the one who reserved this guitar."
"You!" The woman was seething. A lowlife from a lower planet dared to argue with her. In a fit of rage, she unleashed a wave of spiritual power.
Sophie Wexler scoffed internally. ’Spiritual power?’
’We’ll see who overpowers whom.’
Just as she was about to retaliate, another wave of spiritual power surged forward, blocking the spiritual pressure from Thatcher’s daughter.
A deep voice came from behind Sophie Wexler. "Mavis Thatcher, don’t throw your little tantrums."
Sophie Wexler turned around and saw a man standing behind her. When he saw her looking, he even offered a perfectly measured smile.
"Shane Thorne?" Mavis Thatcher paused when she saw the newcomer, retracting her spiritual power.
"Why are you protecting this scu—"
Before she could finish, Shane Thorne’s expression had already turned cold. "Mavis Thatcher, remember your station. Watch your words!"
"This young lady saw the guitar first, so it’s naturally hers."
The woman immediately shut her mouth, her face blue with anger. She couldn’t believe Shane Thorne would actually defend a lowlife.
But she couldn’t defy him. Although the Thatcher Family held a high status, it was still far beneath a family with the surname Thorne.
After all, Thorne was His Majesty’s surname, and Shane Thorne was from a branch of the Royal Family. He might even be the next in line for the throne.
Her eyes were filled with resentment, but she still wasn’t ready to give up.
"This guitar costs tens of millions of Star Coins. Even if you give it to this scu—" At this, she saw his glare and instantly changed her phrasing. "Even if it’s given to her, can she afford it?"
Her gaze toward Sophie Wexler was still thick with disdain.
Shane Thorne: "If she can’t afford it, I’ll help her—"
Just then, Sophie Wexler’s sales associate returned. "Ma’am, your other items have been packaged. I’ll get the guitar for you now."
Sophie Wexler nodded. Ignoring the other two, she said to Shane Thorne, "That won’t be necessary. I’ll pay for it myself."
With that, she handed over her card.
"BEEP. Payment successful. Your total purchase comes to: twenty-six million, eight hundred and seventy thousand Star Coins."
Instantly, the air became unnaturally silent.
The two women who had just been mocking Sophie Wexler now had faces that were a ghastly, colorful mix of shades. It was quite a sight.
Sophie Wexler paid them no mind and said to Shane Thorne, "But thank you for what you did just now."
Shane Thorne quickly composed his expression, a smile returning to his face. "It was nothing."
After saying her thanks, Sophie Wexler prepared to turn and leave. Shane Thorne immediately followed. "Miss, may I ask your name? I see you bought musical instruments. I’m also very fond of music. I was wondering if it would be convenient to exchange a few words."
"I have a small in-mall flyer. Might I invite you to ride with me?"
"Please, don’t misunderstand. I just really love music, and I happened to run into you, I..."
His following words became inaudible as they walked away. Seeing this, Leo Fane cried out internally: ’This is bad!’
’I just went to the restroom! How did Shane Thorne get next to Miss Wexler?!’
As their figures were about to disappear from sight, Leo Fane immediately placed a call to Cillian Forrest.
"Marshal, Miss Wexler left with Shane Thorne!"
