Leon’s POV

I could already tell that something was about to happen.

At this point, the entire town had already been completely evacuated, leaving behind empty streets and silent buildings without a single civilian anywhere in sight. The place almost looked abandoned, as though everyone had accepted that a battlefield was about to take shape here sooner rather than later.

Calling it nothing more than an assumption wouldn’t really be accurate.

A full-scale war was literally about to break out in this very place, and everybody who mattered already knew that.

Right now, I was sitting quietly on top of one of the rooftops, my eyes fixed on the distant horizon while waiting for the inevitable. I had absolutely no idea when they would finally show themselves, but I could already feel it in my gut.

This was going to become one hell of a fight before the day was over.

The morning sun had finally begun climbing above the horizon, painting the sky with warm colors as darkness slowly gave way to daylight.

Along with that rising sunlight came six beautiful women walking toward the town. Every single one of them carried herself differently, and just from the way they dressed, stood, and walked, I could already tell that they all had completely different personalities. Even from this distance, I could feel the overwhelming amount of energy pouring from their bodies. Looking at them now only made that feeling even stronger.

Naturally, my attention settled on the red-haired woman.

She had a very petite body that almost made her look harmless at first glance. Unfortunately, that illusion lasted for about half a second because the amount of bloodlust pouring from her was so overwhelming that it practically stained the air around her. Looking at someone that tiny and somehow feeling that much danger was honestly a little unfair.

I didn’t need anyone to tell me who she was.

That woman could only be Satania.

By this point, I understood well enough just how dangerous she truly was. The pressure coming from her aura alone was almost twice as intense as what Lucielle had released when we first met. Comparing the two almost felt unfair, and that alone said plenty.

"You don’t have anywhere to run, boy."

A familiar voice suddenly spoke from beside me.

My head didn’t even bother turning toward the source.

I already knew she was going to appear sooner or later.

Beelzebub had scattered slimes throughout practically the entire town before this. Using those slimes, she could create copies of herself almost anywhere she wanted, making it incredibly annoying to predict where she’d show up next. She was probably planning to use those copies to stop me from escaping before I even had the chance to think about it.

"Well, I wasn’t planning on going down without a fight anyway," I replied calmly. "At the very least, I plan on taking three of you down with me. If Satania ends up dying too, then I’d say that’s a pretty nice bonus."

"You certainly have plenty of confidence," she replied with a faint smile. "Tell me, what exactly are you basing that confidence on? Do you truly believe you’re capable of accomplishing something that should be completely impossible?"

Impossible, huh?

That word didn’t really mean much to me anymore.

Personally, I didn’t think it was impossible at all.

Honestly, I believed it was entirely possible.

That thought had barely crossed my mind when Beelzebub’s head suddenly slid cleanly off her shoulders.

"Huh...?"

That confused sound was all she managed to make before her severed head dropped onto the rooftop.

Since her body was made entirely of slime, the moment her head hit the ground, it burst apart into a messy puddle that spread across the roof.

My sword never even left its sheath.

Even so, her head had already been cut off.

Her expression remained frozen in complete confusion while her head fell through the air, unable to understand what had just happened. The body she left standing behind remained upright for another brief moment before it slowly melted apart and dissolved into slime as well.

That had only been one of her copies, but by now she should already understand something.

I wasn’t the same opponent she had fought before.

Things had changed.

I had changed.

"Now then..." I said as I slowly rose to my feet.

"You can all come at me together if that’s what you want."

My eyes slowly swept across the six approaching figures without the slightest hint of hesitation.

"I’m going to hunt every single one of you, Sins," I said calmly, as though I were simply stating an obvious fact.

Beelzebub’s POV

"Agh...!"

A sharp, burning pain suddenly spread across my neck.

The sensation felt so real that it was almost identical to having my head completely severed from my body.

The pain became so overwhelming that my thoughts scattered for a brief moment, and before I even realized what had happened, my knees had already given out beneath me.

"What happened, Beelze?"

"Ugh..."

A groan escaped my mouth as I instinctively reached for my neck while trying to steady my breathing.

That bastard...

When did he become this strong?

During our last fight, he wasn’t anywhere close to this level.

Back then, I could still understand what he was capable of.

Looking at him now almost felt like I was staring at an entirely different person.

Just what happened during all that time?

How did he become so much stronger this quickly?

"We all have to be careful from this point onward," I said quietly.

At this point, I wasn’t even confident that we could actually defeat him anymore.

Actually, the more I thought about it, the worse that feeling became.

A very bad feeling had already settled deep inside my chest, and I couldn’t shake it away no matter how hard I tried.

Right now, I honestly couldn’t tell which side was supposed to be the predator...

...and which one was about to become the prey.
