Chapter 1571 - 222 - Rain of Fire and Explosion (2)
All of the Sins immediately headed toward the one person who still had even the slightest chance of saving Asmodeus before it became too late for anyone to do anything.
Although I had managed to heal her just enough to keep her alive for the moment, that treatment was only temporary. She was still hanging by the thinnest thread imaginable, and if we delayed for even a little longer, she could easily lose her life.
Because of that, none of us wasted another second thinking about anything else.
We rushed there as quickly as we possibly could, barely stopping to catch our breath along the way because every passing second mattered.
Our destination was Mammon, one of the former Seven Deadly Sins, and currently the greatest healer any of us could rely on.
The moment we arrived, she looked over at our group. Her eyes quickly swept across all of us before finally settling on the unconscious Asmodeus lying in our arms.
"I honestly never thought I’d live long enough to see all of the Seven Deadly Sins gathered together like this," she said with a faint smile before her expression immediately became much more serious.
She looked directly at Asmodeus again.
"Bring her inside. Follow me."
Without asking any unnecessary questions, we immediately followed behind her as fast as we could.
She guided us deeper into the building until we eventually reached one of the private rooms that she used for treating patients.
Once we got there, we carefully laid Asmodeus down on the bed so Mammon could examine her injuries without anything getting in the way.
Mammon slowly raised both of her hands before gently channeling healing magic into Asmodeus’ battered body.
A heavy silence filled the entire room while everyone waited anxiously for some kind of response.
Nobody dared to interrupt her concentration, and even Satania stayed unusually quiet while watching the treatment unfold.
Several long moments passed before Mammon finally lowered her hands again.
The look on her face alone was enough to tell us that the outcome wasn’t good.
"It looks much worse than I first thought," Mammon admitted with a quiet sigh. "To be completely honest... I don’t think even my healing magic is capable of repairing injuries like these."
"W... What?!" Satania shouted as she immediately stepped forward. "You’re joking, right?! There has to be something you can do!"
Mammon slowly shook her head, clearly frustrated by her own inability to help.
"I’m sorry," she answered quietly. "There really isn’t anything I can do for her anymore."
So even Mammon couldn’t heal Asmodeus after seeing the extent of those injuries.
Honestly, I couldn’t say I was completely surprised by that conclusion.
After seeing Asmodeus’ condition with my own eyes, I already knew that ordinary healing magic wouldn’t be enough to save her.
Simply keeping her alive until now already felt like a miracle.
Back when I first found her, she had already been standing right at death’s doorstep.
Seeing her survive until this moment was honestly surprising enough on its own.
"W... What are we supposed to do now?" Morsea asked, unable to keep the worry out of her voice anymore.
Mammon remained silent for several seconds while thinking everything over carefully.
She looked as though she was searching for even the smallest possibility that we might have overlooked.
Eventually, she turned toward the rest of us.
"Couldn’t Leon help with this?" she asked calmly. "Honestly, I think he has a better chance of saving her than I do."
The moment Leon’s name was mentioned, Satania’s expression immediately became complicated.
She clearly hated the idea of depending on someone like Leon, even if the situation left us with almost no other options.
Lucielle, on the other hand, didn’t hesitate for even a moment.
She turned toward me almost immediately.
"Beelze," she called out. "Your copy is still with Leon right now, isn’t it?"
I gave a small nod in response.
"Some of my slime bodies are still over there," I replied. "I can still use one of them to communicate with him."
A quiet sigh escaped from me as I looked down at my body.
"The only problem is that I’m almost completely out of mana."
I glanced down at my slime body for another brief moment.
"I can probably keep the connection going for only a short while before it disappears."
Right now, I didn’t have enough mana remaining to create a proper human form for myself.
My original slime body was all I could maintain in my current condition.
Fortunately, that was all I really needed at the moment anyway.
Talking to Leon was the only thing that mattered right now.
Closing my eyes, I focused on the slime body I had left behind inside Leon’s base in the Milham Kingdom.
Maintaining the connection felt much more difficult than it normally did because my mana reserves had almost completely run dry.
Still, after concentrating for several moments, my consciousness finally shifted over to the other body.
When I opened my eyes through that slime body, Leon wasn’t anywhere nearby.
Using what little mana I still had left, I sent him a signal to let him know that I had returned.
Thankfully, it didn’t take very long before he responded.
Only a few moments later, Leon returned to the base.
"Leon..."
He immediately turned toward me after hearing my voice.
"Beelzebub," he replied. "looks like something similar to what happened here also occurred on the Demon Continent, huh."
His expression quickly turned serious.
"The Republic deployed bombers over here as well."
"W... What?" I asked in complete disbelief. "They attacked over here too?"
"Yeah," Leon answered with a nod. "I dealt with them as quickly as I could before they caused any more damage."
He folded his arms while letting out a slow breath.
"If I had left them alone much longer, they would’ve destroyed the countries beyond Milham as well."
His gaze remained calm while he continued speaking.
"Bethlan would’ve been caught in the attack too, and I wasn’t about to let that happen."
So he had already handled the entire situation before anyone else could even react.
Honestly, that was exactly the sort of thing I expected Leon to accomplish.
Someone like him always seemed to arrive just before everything completely fell apart.
He looked back at me with a concerned expression.
"Are you hurt?" he asked quietly.
I gently shook my slime body to answer him.
"I’m fine for now."
Recovery would still take some time, but I wasn’t in immediate danger anymore.
"I’ll recover eventually."
My voice became noticeably quieter after that.
"But Asmodeus..."
The words caught in my throat for a brief moment before I forced myself to continue speaking.
"She’s in critical condition."
I lowered my gaze toward the floor.
"I honestly don’t think she has much time left if nothing changes."
My slime body tightened unconsciously.
"We can’t heal her because the injuries are simply too severe."
Another quiet breath escaped from me before I continued.
"We also don’t have enough mana left to keep her condition stable for much longer."
Silence lingered between us for several moments before I finally spoke again.
"I know Asmodeus has done terrible things to you."
I hesitated briefly before finishing the rest of my sentence.
"I also know what she did to your sister."
My voice became even softer than before.
"But..."
Although I didn’t have a proper human body anymore, I forced my slime body to lower itself as though I were bowing before him as sincerely as I possibly could.
"Please..."
I kept my body lowered while waiting for his answer.
"Save Asmodeus."
