Chapter 1572 - 222 - Rain of Fire and Explosion (3)
Leon’s POV
I headed straight to Mammon’s mansion the moment I arrived and immediately went to check on Asmodeus’s condition without wasting any more time than necessary.
The instant I laid eyes on her, I finally understood why Beelzebub had called for me with such urgency.
She hadn’t been exaggerating.
The situation was genuinely that bad.
Part of me had wanted to stay in Milham a little longer. After everything that had happened, nobody could say for certain when another bombing attack might come crashing down out of nowhere. If the enemy had already struck once, then expecting them to stop after a single attempt would’ve been incredibly optimistic.
Even so, I couldn’t simply leave Asmodeus here and hope everything somehow worked itself out.
Up until now, we’d been enemies.
Out of all the Seven Deadly Sins, aside from Satania, Asmodeus was probably the one who hated me more than anyone else.
That was understandable.
Considering everything she’d been through, especially the sexual torture she had suffered in the past, it was only natural that she’d end up despising men.
Still, I couldn’t bring myself to leave her here to die.
Personal feelings aside, she was going to play an important role in the coming war against the other worlds. Losing someone as powerful as her before the real fighting even started would be a massive blow to our side.
Thankfully, I had already informed Myrcella about the bombing attack and warned her to prepare in case another one happened. Veronica and Lilia weren’t the type to simply stand around and watch explosives rain down from the sky without doing anything about it.
I’d also warned Bethlan about the possibility of becoming another target.
The Great Forest had already received the same warning as well.
At this point, everyone on my side was preparing themselves for whatever came next.
The Republic looked completely ready for war now.
Judging from everything they’d done so far, they weren’t planning to hold anything back. They’d skipped all the cautious testing and immediately jumped straight into overwhelming force.
Honestly, they’d made an incredible amount of progress in a surprisingly short amount of time.
Well...
They’d already made their own bed through those decisions.
Now they were going to have to lie in it whether they liked it or not.
Before worrying about them, though, I had something much more urgent sitting right in front of me.
Asmodeus came first.
Right now, she looked absolutely terrible.
Beelzebub had managed to heal part of her injuries, but it was obvious she hadn’t been able to finish the job. That wasn’t really surprising considering Beelzebub herself was still recovering from serious injuries, so her healing abilities were nowhere near their usual level.
Asmodeus’s arms were no longer bent into impossible angles, which was probably the only piece of good news I could find.
Almost every bone in her body had been shattered, though.
Her internal injuries weren’t any better either.
Just from looking at her breathing, I could already tell she was hanging on by the thinnest thread imaginable.
"Her life force is dangerously low," I said after carefully examining her condition.
The moment those words left my mouth, every one of the Sins quietly sucked in a sharp breath.
People feared the Seven Deadly Sins because of their overwhelming strength and terrifying reputations.
Even so, they’d all grown up together.
They were practically sisters.
Watching one of them lying here on the verge of death clearly affected them far more than they wanted to admit.
"Thankfully," I continued while standing back up, "you brought her to the right person. I can transfer some of my life force to her."
"Is that really alright?" Levi asked with visible concern written across her face. "Mana is one thing, but life force is completely different. That’s what keeps someone alive. If you’re going to give away your own life force, wouldn’t that shorten your own lifespan? On top of that, you’ve been using those Cursed Swords, haven’t you? Those weapons consume your life force too. Even if your reserves are unbelievably large, I don’t think it’s something you can casually keep handing out forever."
Her concern made perfect sense.
Anybody in her position would’ve asked exactly the same question without much hesitation.
"You don’t have to worry about this guy," Satania said while glaring at me hard enough that it almost felt like she was trying to set me on fire with her eyes alone.
The expression on her face made it painfully obvious she still wanted to blow me into tiny little pieces.
The only reason she hadn’t tried anything yet was because I happened to be the one standing between Asmodeus and death.
"This bastard..." she muttered with obvious annoyance. "His life force is even greater than Lilith’s ever was."
The instant those words came out of her mouth, the room became completely silent for several long seconds.
Everyone stared at me.
Even Beelzebub and Lucielle looked genuinely shocked.
Their eyes widened so much that I almost expected them to pop right out of their sockets, which honestly would’ve made this conversation even stranger than it already was.
Apparently, none of them had expected Satania to reveal something like that.
"More importantly," Morsea said after finally breaking the silence, "how exactly are you planning to transfer your life force to her?"
"I’ll be helping," Mammon said as she casually raised one hand with complete confidence.
Apparently, she already knew exactly what method I intended to use.
That wasn’t particularly surprising.
She was one of my women, after all, so there weren’t many secrets left between us anymore.
"I’m thankful for that," I replied with a small smile. "I’m definitely going to need your help with this."
Mammon walked over until she was standing close enough that our shoulders were almost touching.
While everyone else’s attention remained focused on Asmodeus, I quietly reached over and grabbed Mammon’s ass where none of the others could see the movement from their current positions.
Thankfully, all six of them happened to be standing at angles that completely hid what I was doing.
That wasn’t random.
There was a reason behind it.
Transferring life force wasn’t something an ordinary person could accomplish through conventional means.
I, however, had my own unique method.
I could transfer my life force through my semen.
