Chapter 127: A Journey
Sunnie stared to know what the next step was. And it appeared right before her on the system tab.
[Step Three: Obtain crops to plant]
Sunnie knew it was coming. For some reason, she dreaded this stage because she knew she didn’t have any crops anywhere, and she didn’t know where she would get them from.
Little Black and the rest were busy going through the lawnmower and checking it out while she stood there with the system, trying to think of what to do next.
Where was she supposed to gather all that she would need to plant on her farm? She wondered.
Sunnie figured she could buy some crops to plant from the system store. "How much would be needed then?" She requested from her system.
[If the host would like to purchase all the necessary recommended crops from the system, that would cost a lot—approximately 30,000 heart coins!]
Sunnie certainly didn’t have that amount with her. She was certain. She only had about 15,000 heart coins. If she spent all she had, she would have nothing left, and it still wouldn’t be enough to fill up the farm.
Sunnie knew she certainly needed another alternative. And so she stood there thinking of what to do.
[Ding!]
[System alternative available!]
[There’s another way to get the required crops without spending all you have and being thrown into a loan. Would the Host like to view this alternative?]
Sunnie was most certainly curious to know. So she accepted it as the system opened up the page for the new option.
[Ding!]
[Tribe Building System: Farming Task]
[Step three: Obtain crops to plant!]
[Since the host is too broke to afford crops, there’s another way to obtain the required crops. And that’s by setting out on a journey out of the evil forest.]
Sunnie was curious. "Huh? Out? To where?"
She listened as the system continued.
[There will be a contest happening somewhere in the distance. If the host attends and successfully participates, she stands a chance of winning all the crops she would need for the farming season!]
[The winning prize for the contest is a handful of crops and vegetables needed for successful farming, since it’s already the farming season.]
[So would the Host like to take up this competition?]
It wasn’t a bad idea at all, Sunnie thought. It was actually a good one. She needed the crops, and this would give her the opportunity to obtain them. It was a competition; she was sure she could win her way through.
"And where is this competition being held? Which tribe is hosting it?" Sunnie inquired. At least she needed to know that to figure out how she would go.
[The boar beast tribe.]
A map to where their tribe was located appeared before Sunnie, and she could tell it was a bit far because it required journeying down the evil forest and making some trip to get there.
[They are popular for having lots of crops and successful agricultural outcomes. So they are always prepared with more than enough crops, which they offer to others as rewards after winning a contest they set.]
[Would the Host like to accept this task?]
Sunnie hesitated and then nodded. "Yes, I don’t mind." As long as she could acquire the crops she needed, she didn’t mind going down the forest and meeting some beastmen who clearly wouldn’t like seeing her. She could survive.
She accepted the task as the system provided her with the necessary information she would need to work with—the map leading to the place she would need to go, the information she would need to work with, and then the reward she would get from it, which was:
[Reward: Host will get the system’s fertilizers that would aid fast and successful farming. Fertilizers that would help nourish the Host’s plants and help them grow fast and healthy will be provided for the host for free by the system if the host gets the crops!]
Sunnie nodded. She guessed she would have to aim for winning the competition if she wanted those magic fertilizers. Second or third place wasn’t even an option now.
---
After she was done with her system, Sunnie, Little Black, and her beast husbands headed back home.
They had had a successful farming session today, so it was worth celebrating at least. Sunnie prepared some nice meal for them all with the 5,000 heart coins she had.
She was left with 10,000 heart coins. But she believed she could gain it back soon enough.
She prepared some chicken soup for them, using the basic ingredients they had plus the ones she could get from around. Adding that to what the system presented them with, she prepared a decent meal for them that evening.
The little ones had been playing all day that they fell asleep early as soon as they were done having their meal. They were taken inside to sleep while the rest stayed and discussed while enjoying the remaining meal.
While they spoke, Sunnie suddenly brought up the mission at hand. "We’ll be making a trip down the evil forest."
Everyone paused and stared at her, confused. "Huh? Why?" Luka asked.
"What’s wrong? Did something happen?" Elza inquired. They stared at her, worried and confused.
But Sunnie shook her head and said, "Nothing necessarily. It’s just to get something." She explained, "The farming is in progress. We’ve found good land and cleared it. Now what is needed is to get crops to plant in the area. And right now, we don’t seem to have any of that."
She continued, "The crops around here have mostly been destroyed, and most won’t be good enough for the farming. We need suitable and healthy crops for it. And I think the best way to get that is to go down from the evil forest and obtain them."
She explained while they all sat there quietly, listening without saying anything for a while.
