Chapter 208: Smiling through it.
Sunnie smiled as she began applying the medication on the female’s leg. The female smiled while staring at her as she asked, "My name is Aya. What’s yours?"
Sunnie hesitated with a smile as she said, "I don’t think I need to give any formal introduction, do I? I mean..." She stared at her, but there was nothing more to be said at that moment.
Sunnie smiled again as she said, "You can call me Sunnie, then."
Aya nodded as she looked around. "This place looks so lively and fun to be around. It also looks so productive and all. I’m simply impressed. Let me guess—you’re the one behind it? You worked hard on this?"
Sunnie smiled as she said, "I won’t take all the credit at all. It’s a collective effort, so don’t flatter me too much. Okay?"
Aya smiled as she said, "But I still have to admire you. Now that I’m here, I suppose I’ll learn a lot from you then. That’s something great."
Sunnie smiled at her. The two of them stared deep into each other’s souls while smiling, as though someone was operating on them or controlling them. "Okay... sure... I can’t wait."
And so their eyes clashed, teases. At that moment, Sunnie knew that she wasn’t going to like this female in any way.
---
Evening arrived, and the meal was ready and served. Everyone sat around the fire enjoying their meal.
At that moment, Aya rushed and sat down close to Eris, sitting beside him while they ate. As she ate, she smiled from time to time.
"Oh, this meal is so delicious!" Aya smiled as she volunteered to feed Eris. "Here, take a bite. It’s so delicious!"
Eris smiled as he also took a bite from her. "Mmm, yeah, it is. I guess Sunnie really did a good job with this. I’m so impressed," he said as he stared at Sunnie.
Sunnie too stared at them, her expression brimming with smiles. "I’m glad you liked it." She had been staring at them for a while, watching Aya cling onto Eris for hours ever since she arrived.
Following him around from place to place and asking him endless questions, as if she were a kid brought into the scene. Sunnie couldn’t help but roll her eyes from time to time at that moment.
And now she was clinging onto him while eating and acting like someone who hadn’t seen food before. Pick me, Sunnie thought, and she was pissed off by that idea while still smiling.
"Oh dear, Sunnie made this? I never knew you could be good at cooking. This is delicious! You should consider cooking more," Aya smiled while staring at her.
Soon, she turned to stare at Eris and continued clinging to him while bothering him with endless questions. "I never knew that food could even be processed in this abandoned land. This is impressive... I wonder how it’s done... and how do you guys even store all this stuff while preventing it from spoiling? Just impressive!"
She smiled as she continued eating while asking and clinging to Eris.
The others stared at them, feeling speechless by the scene before them.
"I’m already sick and tired of her," the chubby chipmunk blinked.
"I promise if she speaks for another minute, I’m going to go and drown myself in the ocean," Little Black shook his head as Zukka held him firmly.
"You’re not going into any ocean," Zukka said.
Maren was sitting beside Sunnie, her eyes running through Aya and Eris. "Mama, I don’t like this lady at all." She was about to say aloud when Sunnie pulled her closer and covered her mouth immediately before she could say anything further.
At that moment, Aya heard some muffled sound as she turned and smiled at them. "Wow, such a cute little girl. Is that your daughter, Sunnie?"
Sunnie smiled at her. "Yes, she is. My lovely daughter."
Aya smiled. "That’s so sweet. Little girl, how are you doing tonight?"
Maren stared at her and said, "I don’t like you."
"...."
"....."
"....."
Luka couldn’t help it. He burst into laughter while Azure tried holding in his laughter along with the others around.
Aya smiled as she nodded. "That’s okay." She turned to Eris and continued asking him questions.
---
That night, while everyone was retiring to rest in their houses, Aya rushed and clung onto Eris. "I want to sleep with you tonight. Don’t turn me down, can I come?"
Everyone paused and stared at them, speechless.
Sunnie blinked as she scoffed.
Eris smiled as he removed her hands. "Ah, you can go and stay at the house prepared for you. Okay? I think that would be best."
But Aya clung hard onto him with a smile. "Please don’t turn me down. I can’t sleep alone in that lonely house at all. I need to be around with you, so please don’t turn me down. Okay? Let me stay with you."
Eris smiled as he turned and stared at Sunnie. He swore he could see the furious glare brush through her eyes, but Sunnie covered it up with a bright smile.
Eris smiled at the female and said, "I’m sorry, but I’m sleepy. I have to go and sleep. Okay?"
The female sighed as she slowly nodded. "Okay then. You can go and sleep. I’ll stay alone."
Eris nodded with a smile as he turned and left with the other male beasts into their cave.
Sunnie stood there as Aya turned and stared at her. "So Sunnie, where are you sleeping tonight? I want to come and stay beside you!"
Sunnie flashed a smile as she said, "Oh, I’m not going to sleep now. I have to go somewhere and work on something, so I won’t be free at all."
"I’ll wait for you," Aya smiled.
Sunnie shook her head. "No. You can just go to sleep now. I won’t be back anytime soon. So don’t wait for me at all, okay?" She said as she turned and walked off, rushing into the distance.
