Chapter 119: Another Chance.
Little Black walked up to Sunnie and patted her on the leg. "Don’t cry. How are we supposed to enjoy the meal happily if you’re crying?"
Everyone smiled at his statement, Sunnie included. Sunnie stared down at him while patting him on the hair. "Okay, okay. I won’t cry."
She smiled as she looked up at them. "You guys... thanks a lot for this. I really, really appreciate it." She suddenly felt better knowing that she had people on her side—people who were supporting her no matter what.
"No worries at all!" Zuna smiled. "Just believe in yourself and keep pushing! We’ll always support you!" she said with a smile.
Sunnie nodded as she looked around. She felt good knowing that the good she was doing was being appreciated. "Since the meal was made for the celebration, it’d be a shame if we don’t start eating it on time to celebrate."
Little Black nodded immediately. "Yes. Since you’re already awake, let’s start dishing it out to eat."
Sunnie smiled. She excused herself to wash up a bit before she joined them. And so they excused her while she headed to the stream, and they prepared to serve the meal.
Sunnie arrived at the stream and swallowed a handful of water. She washed her mouth with it using some leaf at the side. When she was done, she cleaned her face and her body for a moment to freshen up.
And while she washed, she couldn’t help but think about what they had done for her. She was so moved that she felt bad eating their meal.
They had worked hard to get something for her to eat from outside—something to celebrate her with. And she hadn’t gotten them a successful farmland for them to eat through. She felt bad and couldn’t help but think of a way to reciprocate.
And while she thought about that, her system beeped.
[Ding!]
[Tribe Building System: Farming Task still active]
[Host has to continue working to develop the perfect farmland and gain the best harvest!]
Sunnie was quiet as she stared at the system, almost rolling her eyes. She had realized that her system didn’t even bother telling her she was going in the wrong direction at all.
Rather, her system watched as she worked her ass off while even "supporting" her toward it.
She was pissed off. But then again, she realized that this was a task that wasn’t specifically telling you where you went wrong.
It’s like a lecturer telling you where you are wrong during the exam for you to correct it.
It was a task where the system would only hand you the options, necessary support, and steps, and you’d think through it for yourself and work.
She understood the concept and realized that she had to work and think harder if she wanted to make the best of the system. It was survival, after all.
With a sigh, she stared at the system. "So, what step should I begin from again now?" she requested.
[The Host will have to begin all over again from the beginning where everything went wrong!]
[Step 1: Find a suitable land!]
Sunnie sighed. She guessed she had messed up from day one. And she recalled her error: picking a land that was "fair" enough for farming without giving proper consideration. The warning signs were there, but she had overlooked them for a quick, easy route.
Now Sunnie realized her error too.
She sighed as she said, "I guess that’s the case." She bit her lower lip. "Next time, I’ll have to work harder for it."
She washed her face some more as she stared up at the system. "Okay. I’ve heard. I’ll proceed to look for a better land."
Sunnie was done washing up as she went back to meet the others. The meal was already served, so she joined them.
They enjoyed their morning with the meal the mice women had prepared in the traditional style of their tribe, and everyone simply complimented it.
Everyone ate the meal without complaints, and at the end, Little Black expressed his worries by asking, "We’re eating so well now. It’s been a while since we ate like this. I wonder what we’re going to do after this morning. I’m scared we won’t be eating too well."
Everyone was quiet. No one had a reply to that. There were also traces of worry on their faces.
Karl had simply added, "I think we should go down to the hyena tribe and get the meal." He insisted.
But everyone stared at him. He glared at them and asked, "What? I’m just trying to be helpful here. If you don’t want to, you can leave." He shrugged.
Little Black said, "You’re not being useful. You’re just looking for additional trouble for us."
Karl cast him a cold glare, and he quickly ran to hide behind Zukka, sticking his tongue out at Karl.
Sunnie smiled as she watched them. She had some thoughts running through her mind, and after a while of thinking about it, she finally said, "I’m going to give it another try."
Everyone turned and stared at her. There was silence for a while before she continued.
"I’m going to try another round of farming," she said. "The previous time, I was careless with it and all. But this time, I’ve already realized my error and where I went wrong. I’ve taken my time to think about it. So this time, I’ll do it again."
She stared at them. "So I’d appreciate it if you give me the opportunity and support again. I’ll appreciate it."
Elza smiled with a nod. "Of course we will. As long as you’re confident enough in yourself, we’ll support you."
The other women nodded in agreement. And Little Black nodded so hard that it was as if his head would fall off. "I support you! I’ll always support your decision, Sister Sunnie!"
"Me too!" Zuna and Zukka said in unison.
Sunnie smiled at the two of them. She felt warm inside.
And at that moment, Eris said after clearing his throat, "Tell us whatever you need."
Luka nodded with a smile. "We’ll help you."
