Chapter 90: It’s coming
Sunnie guessed the rewards were worth it. The heart coins were a vital part of her survival. Most of the things she acquired for cooking and stuff came from the system store. And the system, which wasn’t completely free at all, provided most of the cheat codes she needed to survive.
So more heart coins were worth celebrating, she guessed. But she was still sweating so hard that she didn’t even know how to feel.
[Ding!]
[Congratulations Host!]
[All Husbands’ affection percentages have been improved!]
[Luka = 45%]
[Karl = 5%]
[Eris = 30%]
[Zayn = 10%]
[Azure = 75%]
[Additional reward!: A huge Pearl Clam!]
Sunnie blinked. At least Karl’s had finally improved. Even though it wasn’t much, it was still something. And Zayn too. She guessed his impression of her was changing without her even knowing.
Luka and Eris’s affection percentages had indeed improved enough to make babies with them. Sunnie figured that at this level, they’d certainly wish to do it with her, like Azure. She couldn’t help but wonder if they’d be the next.
When the system puffed off into the air without giving Sunnie an update on her condition, Sunnie scoffed, "How rude!" She thought.
"I think you should go and take a bath," Azure suggested.
"Well, you don’t have to tell me that," Sunnie said as she moved forward. She wanted to head to the stream, but she abruptly came to a stop.
While still sweating, she felt a rush of cold run through her stomach. It was as though a freezer was running inside of her.
How the hell does one sweat and feel cold at the same time?
She stopped as she placed one hand over her chest and another on her stomach. She was feeling pain everywhere—cold and also hot at the same time—and it felt extremely uncomfortable.
Immediately, everyone rushed up to her.
"What’s wrong?"
"Are you okay?"
"What happened?"
They were confused as they gathered. But immediately, Elza stepped forward and urged everyone to step aside so Sunnie could get some air. They obeyed without question, stepping aside as Sunnie sat down on the ground, feeling extremely uncomfortable.
Sunnie could feel it—the pain rushing through her stomach and pain between her legs. At that moment, she knew what this was.
Sunnie could tell that it was coming.
"The baby’s coming," Elza calmly said as she ran her hand through Sunnie’s body, feeling her skin.
Everyone was shocked.
"Huh?"
Elza didn’t wait for their reactions. She acted fast like she was in charge, and they were impressed to see that side of her.
"Quickly, carry her to the stream side," she said as Azure swept Sunnie off her feet.
It was an epic, romantic action that Sunnie was sure she would have blushed about. But she felt like she was dying at the moment and wasn’t in the mood to fangirl over the action.
Azure carried her off to the stream side as everyone followed. They panicked while also anticipating what was happening.
---
They arrived at the stream, which was now flowing effortlessly with the wind, shimmering with clean water from the effect of the stone-like chemicals Sunnie had spread into it.
"Let her into the stream. She needs to freshen up first," Elza explained as Azure did as she said. He set her by the water, and Sunnie fell right into the stream, drowning herself as though she was finally breathing air.
Sunnie felt life again. The comfort of the atmosphere came crashing back, and she found herself breathing clean air while inside the water that had swallowed her up.
Everyone stared as Sunnie disappeared into the water.
"How can she breathe in water?" Little Black scratched his hair, confused.
Luka shrugged at the question.
"Will she be okay in there, though?" Azure inquired.
"She’s craving it, so she should be. First, she needs to freshen up in the water before we proceed to the next phase."
"Next phase?" Azure asked.
"To help her deliver," Elza said as she turned. "I’ll need the women’s assistance with it. And I’d appreciate it if all the males could leave."
No one had an issue with that. The women nodded.
But Azure requested, "Can I stay behind...?" He was anxious. He was worried about his wife and the child while also being anxious about the coming little one.
He wanted to stay behind.
But Elza shook her head. "I’m sorry, but I don’t think that will be possible. You’ll have to leave too. Don’t worry, when it’s done, you can all come back again," she assured him.
Eris placed a hand around Azure’s shoulder. "You need to give her some space. She’ll be okay."
Azure slowly nodded with a sigh. "Okay..."
The men were all soon gone, leaving the women there with Sunnie, who had just popped her head out of the water.
She inhaled and exhaled aloud, feeling alive as she let out a bright smile. "Finally..."
The women stood at the side, watching.
Elza said, "I think it’s time to deliver the little one."
Sunnie couldn’t deny it. She could still feel the lingering pain around her stomach and between her legs. It was obvious that the little one wanted to come out, and if the process wasn’t started soon, it would hurt her for another round.
Sunnie hesitated, taking a deep breath and then nodding. "Okay then. I’m ready."
---
Sunnie sat down close to the water. Her feet lay by the edges of the stream, flushing with water in and out. The women gathered around her.
Some held her firmly from behind and around while comforting her, Zuna included. Elza knelt close to her, assisting her in the process.
They held Sunnie firmly as they began, letting her grip onto them while she bit her lower lip and felt the pain rush all over her body. She had broken out in sweat—cold, chilling sweat—as she pushed.
They held her, helping her push while soothing her body and stomach.
It wasn’t going to be a smooth and easy process, especially since it was Sunnie’s first time.
