Chapter 17: Chen Mo: I Want to Be an Atmospheric Handsome Guy

While listening to some music and watching the traffic flow by, Xia Shiqing soon pulled into the underground parking garage of the Modu IFC Mall.

Since they were here to shop, they headed straight for the first floor.

Most of the major international luxury brand stores were located on the first and second floors. The selection was comprehensive; they had just about everything.

"Do you have any specific requests for your style?"

Xia Shiqing asked as she and Chen Mo walked side-by-side through the mall.

"It doesn’t have to be designer brands. I just want the overall look to have a good vibe. I want to be one of those guys who’s handsome because of his vibe."

Chen Mo said after a moment of thought.

It wasn’t that he was short on cash or reluctant to spend it.

It was just that if you blindly chased designer labels without any thought to how they paired together, you could be covered head-to-toe in brand names and still look like you just struck it rich.

But with a well-coordinated outfit that created the right vibe, you could turn heads even without a single famous brand.

"I get what you mean."

Xia Shiqing’s eyes scanned Chen Mo from top to bottom, carefully assessing his build and proportions.

"Once I’m done putting some outfits together for you, we’ll get you a haircut. You’ll be the ultimate stylish guy with great vibes. I guarantee you’ll have beautiful women asking for your WeChat on the street."

A confident smile graced her stunning face.

Chen Mo had a pretty good foundation to work with.

He was 180 cm tall and weighed 75 kg—a standard, well-proportioned build, not too fat and not too thin. His proportions were good, too.

As for his looks, his features were all fine. His skin was just a little tan, but he was definitely in the handsome-enough category.

She remembered he used to be quite fair, which meant he wasn’t naturally dark-skinned. He could get his lighter complexion back.

It was just his current outfit that really needed a complete overhaul.

"Let’s do it."

Xia Shiqing had already sold him on the dream, and he was starting to picture himself as that stylish guy with great vibes.

The two of them then began hopping from one store to the next, picking out clothes.

Xia Shiqing planned out several different styles for him to suit various occasions.

Casual everyday wear, business attire, athletic wear, and so on.

Each style, of course, required a different approach to putting an outfit together.

But in general, they followed a few basic principles.

For example, pairing a dark top with light-colored pants, and matching the shoes to the pants to create a continuous line that elongated his legs.

Using a belt or tucking in his shirt to define his waistline also helped improve his proportions.

Everyday outfits were mainly loose-fitting, while business wear was more tailored and slim-fit.

Shoes were another category, divided into casual shoes, sneakers, leather dress shoes, and more.

They shopped for over an hour, and he tried on one outfit after another.

Along the way, they also picked out smaller accessories, like jewelry, belts, and a wallet.

Although Chen Mo was starting to feel a bit numb from trying on so many clothes, deep down he was very satisfied.

By the time they walked out of the last store, Chen Mo was carrying over a dozen bags of all sizes in both hands.

Even Xia Shiqing was helping him carry a few.

With so many purchases, the cost was naturally high.

While they hadn’t deliberately sought out designer labels, any brand with a store in the International Financial Centre was no small name.

Individual items were priced in the thousands of yuan; you couldn’t find anything for just a few hundred.

The bags in their hands contained almost ten full outfits, costing well over several tens of thousands of yuan.

But Chen Mo didn’t feel any regret. Money was meant to be spent.

As long as it was for self-improvement and his own enjoyment, it was all worth it. Otherwise, what was the point of making money?

Take the outfit he had just changed into, for example. One look in the full-length mirror and he could see a world of difference.

Compared to how he looked now, his previous style could only be described as that of a country bumpkin.

Words couldn’t even describe it.

All he could say was the money was well spent.

"Let’s drop these off at the car. We won’t be able to keep shopping like this."

Chen Mo suggested.

"Okay."

Xia Shiqing nodded in agreement.

Chen Mo was done with his shopping, but she hadn’t even started.

The two of them then went down to the underground garage, placed all the bags in the back seat, and returned to the first floor.

"Here, let me hold your bag for you."

Chen Mo naturally took her Gucci bag from her, so it wouldn’t be inconvenient when she was trying on clothes.

Xia Shiqing didn’t refuse. She seemed to trust him quite a bit.

A woman’s purse usually contains her phone and other personal items; she wouldn’t just hand it over to someone she didn’t trust.

"You’re turning out to be a decent shopping buddy."

Xia Shiqing glanced at him, giving him a look of approval.

"You got it," Chen Mo said with a smile, slinging her purse over his shoulder. "And really, thank you for all your help today."

After that, Xia Shiqing focused on the major designer stores.

Unlike Chen Mo, who had focused mainly on clothes, Xia Shiqing looked at everything.

Tops and bottoms, skirts, flats and high heels, purses, accessories... he was getting dizzy just watching her browse.

But Xia Shiqing had excellent taste, and with her supermodel-like looks and figure, she was the perfect clothes horse.

Practically every time she stepped out of the fitting room, his first glimpse of her left his eyes filled with unconcealable awe.

’Shopping with a woman isn’t so bad after all, huh?’

A sudden, mistaken thought crossed Chen Mo’s mind.

’Think about it,’ he mused. ’A stunningly beautiful woman with an amazing figure is constantly trying on all sorts of gorgeous outfits and modeling them for you.’

’And she’s not shy about it at all, showing off her incredible figure up close. It’s a total visual feast, right?’

’Then, after she’s done, she even asks for your honest opinion. Plus, she pays for everything herself, no matter how much she buys.’

’Anyone who’d still complain about being tired in a situation like this would have to be out of their mind.’

"Let’s go. This season’s new collection isn’t that great."

Xia Shiqing had tried on many things, but only bought a few pieces.

She wasn’t too satisfied with the styles in the new collection.

Chen Mo took the shopping bags from her, and the two of them walked into the CHNALE store next door.

"Welcome to CHNALE."

The sales associate at the entrance warmly welcomed them into the store.

"I’ll just look around on my own."

Xia Shiqing didn’t like having a sales associate follow her around, so she said this to the employee.

"Of course. Please let me know if you need anything."

The associate was very professional and immediately gave them their space.

While Xia Shiqing looked at purses, Chen Mo’s eyes swept with interest over the expensive bags lining the shelves.

’No wonder they say a new bag can cure all ills.’

He took a look at the prices. The bags easily went for ten or twenty thousand yuan, with some of the more expensive ones costing eighty or ninety thousand.

’With a gift that expensive, if it doesn’t cure what’s ailing you, you might as well just get buried.’

’Hell, if someone gave *him* a computer rig worth ten or twenty thousand, he’d guarantee it’d cure all his ills, too.’

’Then again,’ he thought, ’I don’t know if it’s a problem with my sense of style or the designer’s...’

’Some of these bags looked pretty good, but others were completely beyond his comprehension.’

"Chen Mo, could you grab that bag for me?"

Just then, Xia Shiqing seemed to have spotted one she liked on the shelf next to him, pointing toward it with a slender, pale finger.

"OK."

Chen Mo took the bag down and handed it to her.

Xia Shiqing tried both bags, her fine brows furrowing slightly. A conflicted look appeared on her gorgeous face.

"Which of these two looks better?"

Xia Shiqing must have been truly torn, as she turned to ask for Chen Mo’s opinion.

But the moment the words left her mouth, she couldn’t help but shake her head. ’I must be losing my mind to actually ask *him*.’

Chen Mo was taken aback for a second. He studied both bags carefully and mulled it over.

"They’re both... one’s more for business, the other is more athletic. My suggestion is to buy both."

He had been about to say they both looked fine, but then he remembered the classic advice for situations like this and quickly changed his answer.

Xia Shiqing rolled her beautiful eyes at him but didn’t say anything.

’I shouldn’t have even bothered asking.’

"Hand me that one."

She picked out another bag, pointing with a long, slender finger to the one right in front of him.

Chen Mo shrugged and reached to take down the bag for her.

But whether his hand slipped or he just didn’t have a firm grip, the bag suddenly fell from his grasp.

CLATTER~

With a sharp clatter, the bag fell straight to the floor before Chen Mo’s astonished eyes.

The sound had a sharp, crisp quality to it, as if a metal component had struck the hard floor.

DING!

And at that very moment, a familiar notification sound rang in Chen Mo’s mind.

Hearing that sound, Chen Mo’s eyes lit up.

’Is it time for some bad luck again?’
