"AHH!"

At that moment, a pained scream from the man on the ground beside him interrupted his thoughts.

The meal on Chen Mo’s scooter was a bowl of Lanzhou ramen, which came with the soup packaged separately. The broth was fresh and scalding hot, and by a stroke of bad luck, it had all spilled onto the man’s face.

To make matters worse, he was wearing a face mask. Soaked by the soup, it clung to his face, cutting off his breathing like a wet towel pressed over his nose and mouth.

And the customer had ordered extra spicy. The hot broth flowed into his eyes. One could only imagine the agony.

The man screamed in pain from the burns. Unable to breathe and with a searing pain in his eyes, he forgot all about his disguise and instinctively ripped the mask off his face.

The moment the man tore off his mask, Chen Mo got a clear look at him.

The only reason he could see so clearly in the dim light was that, as luck would have it, his fallen scooter was pointed right this way, its two bright, blinding headlights shining directly onto the man’s face.

Seeing the man’s face, Chen Mo looked startled. He didn’t recognize him, yet he seemed familiar, as if he’d seen him somewhere before.

Then it hit him. Chen Mo recalled the wanted poster he’d been seeing everywhere for the past few days and immediately recognized the man as the person on it.

’This isn’t a wanted fugitive, this is 200,000 yuan walking!’

He had just been wondering what kind of twist would happen in the end, what sort of luck would follow his misfortune.

Now, he knew.

’A 200,000 yuan bounty!’

’It’s mine!’

’Who says being unlucky is a bad thing? This kind of bad luck is fantastic!’

There was no time to overthink it. Chen Mo’s expression grew frenzied, his eyes gleaming with a thirst for wealth as he immediately pulled out his phone and dialed the police.

At the same time, while the man was still screaming in pain, he righted his fallen scooter, then pushed it over onto the man.

The full weight of the scooter pinned the man down, making it impossible for him to push himself up, no matter how much he struggled.

Still uneasy, Chen Mo planted his foot firmly on the scooter, making it absolutely impossible for the man to roll over.

He also kept a close watch on the man’s hands. If he saw him pull out a weapon, he was ready to bolt immediately.

’200,000 is a lot of money, but my safety is more important. I don’t want to get the money and not be alive to spend it. With my golden finger, I’ve got a bright future ahead of me.’

"Officer, I’m at XXX location! I found the wanted man from the poster, and I have him temporarily subdued. Requesting backup ASAP!"

Just then, the emergency call connected, and he quickly explained the situation.

"Understood, backup is on the way. Please prioritize your own safety. If you’re in danger, escape immediately. Your personal safety comes first."

The dispatcher was taken aback for a moment, then repeatedly stressed that he should stay safe—it wouldn’t even matter if the man got away.

After hanging up, Chen Mo took another close look at the man’s face, confirming once again that this was the person from the wanted poster.

The man was still screaming in agony, completely unaware that Chen Mo had called the police and in no state to even think about fighting back.

This actually made Chen Mo sigh in relief. He’d been afraid the man would fight for his life, but it seemed he was too preoccupied now.

RING~

Chen Mo’s phone rang. He thought it was the police station, but it was the customer.

"Hasn’t my Lanzhou ramen arrived yet? It’s already late." The customer sounded a bit angry; cold noodles wouldn’t taste good.

"Sorry, sorry! I’m in the middle of catching a wanted fugitive. I’ll bring it over as soon as I hand him over to the police. My apologies."

To prove he wasn’t making it up, Chen Mo took a picture of the scene with his phone and sent it to the customer via the delivery app’s chat.

"..."

"Badass. Stay safe."

The customer was stunned. Delivery drivers truly were a mysterious organization, every one of them a hidden talent.

After he hung up, the faint sound of sirens could be heard, growing closer and closer.

"Kid, get this thing off me!"

The man heard the sirens too. The sound was practically seared into his soul, and it snapped him out of his pain-induced stupor.

He unleashed all his strength, trying to push off the scooter that Chen Mo was standing on.

But his face was already burned, and with the searing pain in his eyes, he didn’t even dare to open them.

Even if he cracked them open a little, he was immediately blinded by the scooter’s bright headlights, making him see stars. He was completely combat-ineffective.

On top of that, with Chen Mo’s 180cm/75kg frame standing on the scooter, the man—who weighed 60kg at most and was in his fifties—was in a completely different weight class. He couldn’t budge it at all.

"Over here! Hurry!"

At that moment, two police officers spotted Chen Mo and ran over.

They arrived quickly. One officer helped Chen Mo keep the man pinned down and handcuffed him, while the other pulled out a phone to compare the photo on it with the man’s face.

"That’s him, no doubt."

After confirming his identity, both officers breathed a sigh of relief. They had expended so much manpower and resources trying to catch this guy, and now they finally had him.

"Sir, are you okay? Thank you so much for bravely stepping up and putting yourself at risk to do the right thing."

The two officers looked at Chen Mo with concern as they thanked him.

"I’m fine. Just got my clothes a little dirty."

Chen Mo brushed the dust off his clothes from his earlier fall. Though his face was a little pale, he forced a calm expression to show he was fine.

After confirming Chen Mo was unharmed, the two officers reported the situation over their radios. Within minutes, a large number of officers arrived, including a team leader.

"Guys, that was way too intense. I just aced a 1v1, and my hands are still shaking as I type this..."

Meanwhile, Chen Mo stood to the side, his face pale, typing with trembling hands to share what had just happened.

He was an ordinary person, after all. After going through something so major, his heart was still pounding.

The 200,000 yuan bounty had gone to his head earlier. Now that he was calming down, he was starting to feel the delayed fear.

"Sir, thank you for your help. We just need to get your information. Once we take the suspect in for a DNA test to confirm his identity, the bounty will be issued to you shortly."

A female officer approached Chen Mo to ask for his information and brought up the matter of the bounty.

He hadn’t been sure how to bring it up himself, but now that they’d mentioned it first, he was more than happy to cooperate.

"Of course." Chen Mo smiled, nodding agreeably.

He tried his best to keep from smiling, not wanting to look like he had zero composure in front of the officers.

But he hadn’t had any professional training; he couldn’t help it. This was 200,000 yuan on the line, after all.

Chen Mo filled out his basic information—contact details, home address, and so on—and also gave a brief statement.

He told them everything: the whole story, how he’d encountered the man, and how he’d subdued him.

"We might hold a commendation ceremony later, and if so, we’ll invite you to attend."

After finishing with the paperwork, the female officer remembered something and added.

Chen Mo gave a small wave, a gesture of understanding that needed no words.

After giving his information, Chen Mo picked up his scooter and noticed it was slightly scratched, with some of the paint chipped off.

"You’ve done a great service, too. These scratches are marks of honor."

Then, he went back to the Lanzhou ramen shop and bought a new bowl for the customer with his own money before delivering it.

"Bro, did you catch the fugitive?" the customer asked curiously.

"Caught him." Chen Mo raised an eyebrow, lifting his head with a hint of pride as he put his hands in his pockets.

"I heard there’s a bounty for catching fugitives, right? How much for this one?"

"Two hundred."

"FUCK!"
