Chapter 157: The Original Desire? (2) - First Things First
"What’s the difference between you and a spirit?" Akasha asked, for in his understanding, spirits seemed to be the closest embodiment of something.
Luna’s smile shifted into something more reflective, though the playful spark in her eyes lingered.
"Love... spirits are like any other race," she said, her voice steady and unhurried.
"They come in many forms. Even Lust Spirits have their own variations, because lust isn’t just about sex.
Desire, hunger, obsession, the urge to possess or be possessed—there are many sides to it, and the spirits who embody them grow and change just like any other being."
She stepped back just far enough to fully extend the small sapling toward him, holding it between them like an offering.
"I, however... have no variation. I am Lust. Everything that falls under that notion... I am it."
She tilted her head slightly, pink-and-purple hair shifting across one shoulder.
"But... until we stand at the same rank, however, I will remain rather weak compared to what I can truly do."
Akasha’s gaze shifted from the glowing leaves back to her face.
"Right... right... So, what can you do now?"
Luna’s smile widened slightly.
"Hmmm, I can make anything I want, set my Divinity to any number I like, and do almost anything I wish—except change my own rank."
She paused, as if suddenly remembering something.
"Wait... just read my memories more thoroughly," she said with a playful pout. "Why am I even explaining this when we’re connected anyway?"
At that, Yume, who had been silent until now, finally spoke. Her blue-streaked hair drifted slightly as her cool composure cracked just enough to reveal open interest and a faint, reluctant awe.
"No, no, no. Mistress, since you’re in such a talkative mood, why not explain—how do you rank up?"
Luna tilted her head in the opposite direction, the motion deliberately teasing, and answered with the same easy certainty she had carried since the beginning of the conversation.
"Tsk... by doing whatever I want, of course."
In that moment, Akasha shook his head, extending his senses to examine the sapling before him carefully.

"So, you’re telling me... you made this on a whim?"
Akasha muttered, still staring at the glowing sapling.
Although he already knew the answer, seeing the list of benefits attached to something created so casually still felt absurd.
He accepted the item without further comment.
The little tree shimmered before dissolving into a cascade of gentle motes of light, drifting effortlessly until they vanished into his inventory.
Luna’s laughter rang out, warm and carefree, as she watched the enchanting sight fade away.
"Right," she said, stepping in close again. "And you need to hurry and reach the next rank so I can finally do what I want to do the most."
She rose onto her toes and gave him a slow, loving kiss.
Akasha responded without a moment’s pause, his hand resting casually on her ass.
When Luna finally pulled back, the playful curve of her lips softened into a gentler smile, laced with a quiet seriousness that lingered beneath her usual lighthearted charm.
"I want to help you," she said softly.
"Since you won’t let me make your path easier outright... then, whenever boredom strikes, I’ll just focus on making things safer for you instead."
Yume rolled her eyes, though a faint smirk tugged at the corner of her mouth. Strands of blue-streaked hair swayed as she crossed her arms.
"Don’t forget about me in all this," she said, her playful pout only half-pretend.
"And those two new women need to hurry up and finish whatever’s required for their new Stars. The moment they do, I’ll be ready for another evolution of my own."
Luna laughed and pulled Yume into the embrace without resistance.
Akasha leaned down and pressed a brief, affectionate kiss to Yume’s temple, his quiet amusement blending with Luna’s brighter laughter.
"How could I forget about you?" he asked with a smile. At his touch, Yume leaned in for a moment, a soft smile spreading across her face.
After a pause, Akasha spoke again.
"Alright... let’s get moving."
He turned toward the four unconscious Apostles still scattered across the cold black stone. With a single thought, he activated the affinity he had only recently claimed.
[Ineffable Affinity]
FWOOOOM!!!!!
In the next instant, dark fire burst into existence around their bodies—black flames laced with the silent essence of death and an insatiable hunger.
With Akasha’s new affinity, all it took was witnessing an ability in action or simply having a concept of it.
And for someone who had devoured countless novels, dreaming up flames crafted for death and consumption was hardly a challenge.
The fire fell without sound or resistance.
In the space of a few heartbeats, the four Apostles were gone, leaving nothing behind but faint scorch marks on the stone and the lingering metallic scent of the chamber.
Akasha’s smile was small and coldly satisfied as he looked at the empty floor.
"Now, first things first," he said. "We finish what Jovian failed to do."
----
The three of them walked out of the chamber together.
The long corridors of black stone and shadows stretched ahead, the air growing colder and thinner the higher they climbed.
When they finally stepped out onto the open upper platform of the Dark Thorn stronghold, the full scale of the structure spread beneath them.
A massive, layered fortress with suspended walkways clinging to the edge of the void... and the drained world lying far below.
Akasha paused at the platform’s edge, and with a single thought, he called forth his array.
[Legion Slaughter Array (God)]
HUMMMMMM!!!!!!
Instantly, ten thousand figures stepped into existence across the open air in perfect formation—Unbound Gods and Constellation-ranked warriors whose combined presence made the thin atmosphere tremble.
Akasha’s voice carried across the ranks without effort.
"Go... descend to the world of Noxara. Free it completely. Kill every Dark Elf you encounter." He said before he continued.
"However, before you leave this stronghold, clear it as well. Leave nothing behind."
The army accepted the command without a word, the only sounds coming from the subtle clink of shifting weapons.
Energy pulsed faintly as auras stirred, tension hanging thick in the air.
Just as they were on the brink of moving out, Yume, leaning casually on his left arm with Luna at his side on the right, broke the silence with a soft, amused chuckle.
"Master... do you plan to leave behind every resource this Pantheon has gathered?" she asked, blue-streaked hair drifting in the thin wind.
"We still have not had the chance to learn what currency these factions actually use... or what they truly value."
Akasha halted mid-step, having already started to walk away after giving the order.
"Right... how could I forget something like that?"
A faint, wry smile tugged at his lips as he turned back to face the waiting legion.
"Uhh... retrieve every resource first," he amended. "Then obliterate the place."
HUMMMM!!!!!
The ten thousand warriors surged forward in unison, spilling out of the stronghold and streaming down toward the four continents trapped below.
As the vast tide of fighters advanced, Akasha, Luna, and Yume joined the movement, matching their pace as they began their own descent into the world.
