Back in the classroom, the students were all discussing what happened. Although the principal had said not to, there was no teacher present, and the incident had taken place in their own class.

The sound of hushed whispers became too much for Brooke York to bear. She shot to her feet, her chair making a harsh scraping sound against the floor. In an instant, all discussion ceased as every student turned to look at her.

"You all think I’m a horrible person, don’t you? Fine, I filmed the video, but I wasn’t the one who posted it! I just mistakenly thought Chloe had done something wrong and wanted to film it to show her. I never thought the video would get out."

The moment she said this, Clara Bell panicked. ’What is she trying to do? Is she trying to clear her own name and throw me under the bus?!’

"Brooke York, what are you talking about? You filmed the video. If you didn’t post it, who else could have?"

"Exactly! Even if you didn’t post it to the confession page yourself, you must have sent it to someone else who did!"

The students weren’t buying Brooke York’s attempts to shift the blame.

Hearing her classmates’ disbelief, Clara Bell breathed a sigh of relief. But a seed of resentment toward Brooke York had been planted in her heart. ’Brooke actually tried to drag me into this to take the fall for her. Does she really think I’m that easy to bully?!’

Suddenly, a fierce pounding echoed from the door. Everyone looked over to see their homeroom teacher standing there, her face contorted with anger. "What are you all talking about? Have you already forgotten the principal strictly forbade any discussion of this?"

The students didn’t dare make another sound. The homeroom teacher’s gaze landed on Brooke York. "Brooke, come out here."

The moment Brooke York stepped out of the classroom, the students could no longer contain themselves and started discussing it again.

"The teacher even said Brooke York would definitely get into a good university. I never thought her idea of a ’good student’ would do something worse than any of the ’bad students’!"

"Shouldn’t Brooke York get a major demerit for doing something like this?"

"She’s the real daughter of the York Family, so of course she won’t get a demerit. But having what she did exposed in front of the whole school... she’s completely lost face."

In the hallway, the homeroom teacher was both disappointed and angry. "Brooke, how could you do something like this?"

"I’m sorry, Teacher. I don’t know what came over me. I didn’t want to... but Chloe York took my place for so many years, enjoying a life that should have been mine. And she’s always going against you, she even made that bet with you... she has no respect for you. You’ve been so good to me, I just couldn’t help but hate her." As Brooke York spoke, tears streamed down her face, making her look as pitiful as could be.

Hearing this, the homeroom teacher could only pat her shoulder comfortingly. She hadn’t expected Brooke York to be sticking up for her, which only intensified her dislike for Chloe York.

"It’s alright. You’re back now. As the fake daughter, she’ll return to the place where she belongs. Your future will be bright and clear. Just don’t do this kind of thing again. There’s no need to leave a stain on your record."

Brooke York nodded. "I understand, Teacher!"

"Good. The principal wants to see you in his office. No matter what they say, make sure you have a good attitude and admit your mistake. You only just came back, after all. Mr. York definitely still feels guilty toward you. Say a few soft words so they won’t punish you."

"Thank you, Teacher. I will."

"Go on, then!"

’The only reason I’m on Brooke’s side is because her good grades make me look good,’ the teacher thought as Brooke York turned and headed toward the principal’s office. ’Chloe, on the other hand, does nothing but disgrace me.’

Returning to the classroom and hearing the students whispering amongst themselves, the homeroom teacher could no longer contain her fury. She walked up to the podium. Some students noticed and quickly fell silent, but a few didn’t and kept talking.

The homeroom teacher grabbed a ruler from the side and slammed it on the desk. The entire classroom went silent in an instant.

"What’s all this noise? Every time I come by, I can hear you from a mile away! Look at the other classes—do any of them act like you? You really are the worst class I’ve ever taught."

With the homeroom teacher enraged, no one dared to say another word. Everyone lowered their heads. ’She’s always saying we’re the worst class she’s ever taught. We haven’t even taken our exams yet. How does she know our class won’t be the one with the most students getting into university?’

"Henry Ford, if anyone else speaks or discusses this out loud, write their name down for me."

"Okay," Henry Ford replied.

After the homeroom teacher left, the students didn’t dare to speak, fearing their names would be taken down.

"I’m going to listen to my English vocabulary," Henry Ford announced just then, pulling out his Bluetooth earbuds and putting them in to play the audio.

All the students understood immediately. Henry Ford was giving them a way to keep talking.

’It makes sense. Henry was also affected by this whole affair, and the teacher still wants him to write down names? As if!’

With their worries gone, the students began discussing loudly again.

Arriving at the principal’s office, Brooke York knocked and walked in. Only after entering did she realize that Miles York hadn’t left yet.

Brooke York’s heart skipped a beat. ’They aren’t actually going to punish me, are they?!’

"Chloe, I’m so sorry. I was just afraid you were going down the wrong path, so I thought of filming a video. I never expected it to be leaked and for people to say such awful things."

"Is that so? Then you’d better be careful. You’ve either got a thief at home or a thief in your classroom who steals your phone, does nothing else, and just posts the video you took to the confession page, complete with a carefully crafted caption."

After a comment like that, was there anyone present who didn’t understand? Brooke York could no longer keep up her pitiful act.

"Miss Brooke York, our position is that you should post an apology on that... confession page, and we’ll consider this matter closed," Jordan Walton said at this point.

This issue had been a headache for long enough; it was time to put an end to it today.

"Fine." Although she was reluctant, she knew the punishment was already light.

With the matter resolved, Chloe York didn’t linger. She planned to head back to class. ’So much time wasted, day after day.’

"Chloe, please come back and stay with us tonight!" Miles York hurried after her to ask, ignoring Jordan Walton who was trying to speak with him.

"No, thanks. My studies are demanding right now."

"Chloe, I’m sorry. This whole thing is my fault. Please move back in. That way, I can do my best to make it up to you," Brooke York pleaded, running out after them.

"Stop causing trouble for me, and I’ll consider that you making it up to me, okay? Also, staying far away from me would also count as making it up to me." After saying her piece, Chloe York ignored them both and left.

Miles York watched Chloe York’s retreating back, then his dark gaze fell upon Brooke York. Startled by his grim expression, Brooke quickly lowered her eyes. "I’m sorry, Dad!"

Looking at the bowed head of Brooke York, Miles York just snorted and left. That single sound was filled with his disappointment in her.

Ethan Prescott came out later. He saw Brooke York’s cold, grim expression as she stared sinisterly at Chloe York, who was already on the opposite side of the corridor. He felt more and more like he must have been blind. ’How could I ever have thought Brooke was so considerate?’
