Chapter 1148: Not as Tempting as Lunch
"What conditions?" Aurelia Shaw raised an eyebrow and asked.
"Stop pretending, you don’t have a purpose? I won’t believe it. Just state your conditions; as long as they’re not too excessive, I’ll meet them." Don’t think he hadn’t figured out her game.
Aurelia found it amusing, "You’ve recognized my acting skills?"
Santiago Fuller glared at her without speaking, as if she were some evil demon. He feared that saying even one more word would trap him in her carefully laid snare.
It felt as if his gaze was saying: Humph, don’t think I don’t know what you’re up to. I won’t utter that sentence and give you leverage!
Aurelia was both amused and annoyed. Clearly, she’s the one being bullied, and out of self-defense, she made this bet. How did she become the villain?
"State your conditions first," Santiago Fuller said.
Aurelia chuckled, "I’ve already stated the conditions. We agreed on the bet beforehand, surely... you’re not backing out, are you?"
Her elongated tone carried a teasing note.
Santiago’s face turned awkward, defensively shouting, "Who said I’m backing out? Humph, I was giving you a chance to negotiate conditions in advance. Since you won’t, just forget it. Humph, until I find someone more suitable to play the mute girl, you’ll continue with the role for now."
"Who said I’ll keep acting?" Aurelia countered.
Santiago’s eyes widened, "Wha-what? On what grounds do you refuse to act?"
Aurelia laughed, "You said it well. Why should I act? I haven’t signed a contract with the crew. Whether I act or not is my choice, isn’t it?"
Santiago Fuller: "..."
That’s the truth, but why did she come here if not to act? Why audition for a role? Just to slap him in the face? This woman is truly insufferable!
Santiago looked at Albert.
You brought her here, you solve it.
Albert shrugged helplessly.
I can’t make decisions for her; besides, she hasn’t signed any contract, not even with me. Whether she acts or not is her freedom. I merely brought her to you. You blame me if you can’t keep her?
Albert feigned innocence, hands in the air.
Santiago was so angry his beard almost flew off, reluctant to let go of someone he’s struggled to find for this role. Hesitating a moment, he dragged Aurelia to a corner, glaring at her like she was his mortal enemy.
He asked Aurelia, "Name a condition."
Aurelia raised an eyebrow.
After a few seconds of staring back at her, Santiago conceded, "A public apology is possible!"
Aurelia raised an eyebrow, silent.
Santiago paced impatiently, knowing she was waiting for a specific sentence. But... but... saying it would be like slapping him in the face, a humiliation he couldn’t bear, especially from a young Oriental girl... Santiago spun in place.
Aurelia patiently waited, while the previously silent Mason Nightshade finally spoke, his tone casual but carrying a noticeable hint of impatience, "Let’s go. It’s time for lunch."
Aurelia looked at him.
Mason caught her gaze, hitting her soft spot, temptingly saying, "I’ll treat you to something delicious."
Aurelia licked her lips, an unintentional move, and was about to step forward—
Realizing they truly intended to leave, Santiago’s head was about to explode with rage. So acting in his film was less enticing than a meal! Thinking back on how he initially thought the girl relied on Albert to enter his crew, Santiago felt a wave of shame, as if slapped until swelling like a pig’s head.
