Aurelia Shaw looked at the message content.

She knew Mason Nightshade wouldn’t lie, but he would keep things from her.

Mason had lived for so many more years than her, experiencing and knowing more things than she did, things she was unaware of.

She exited the chat page and gave a self-deprecating laugh.

Grayson Quinn probably didn’t know much, Mason Nightshade was reborn, Mason had likely never told him, and some things definitely couldn’t be revealed to Grayson.

Aurelia Shaw sent a message to Hadrian Turner: "Help me find out what the relationship was between Godwin Nightshade and Isabella Parker more than ten years ago, and also..."

Hadrian Turner: "??? And what else?"

And... Aurelia hesitated for a moment before typing the rest: "Can you do a paternity test? I’ll give you two hairs tomorrow, can you help me do a paternity test then?"

Hadrian Turner: "??? Whose paternity test?"

He knew he shouldn’t be so curious, but it was really hard to suppress his curiosity about such matters.

"Confidential." Aurelia succinctly dropped those two words, threw her phone aside, turned around, and hugged Mason Nightshade’s firm waist, burying her face in his chest.

Mason Nightshade habitually tightened his arms.

...

At dawn, as soon as seven o’clock arrived, Mason’s eyes opened, his biological clock was precise, but there was a warm, fragrant, soft person in his embrace, like a jade. Mason turned over, pressing her beneath him, not wanting to get up.

Aurelia slept soundly, feeling extremely sleepy at this moment, with heavy eyelids that wouldn’t lift.

All she felt was a weight on her chest making it hard to breathe, instinctively pushing a few times, her delicate eyebrows knitting together. Mason, rather than retreating, pressed closer, holding her tighter, placing a series of lingering kisses on her shoulder while his breathing remained even, nearly falling asleep again.

This thing was so annoying!

The soft hair rubbed against her neck, and the stony weight on her made breathing difficult. Enraged, Aurelia grabbed Mason’s hair, giving it a couple of firm tugs.

Mason, feeling no pain, planted a few more kisses before moving away, lifting his gaze to see the woman holding some black strands of hair in her fair palm.

His lips curled, "Sooner or later, you’ll pluck all my hair, and once I become bald, you’ll cry for sure."

A slap echoed across Mason’s face.

Aurelia only felt like a mouse was squeaking in her ear, annoying to death. She hated mice the most, and they loved dark, damp places. They didn’t just steal her food but even disturbed her sleep at night. Angrily, she slapped, thinking a little mouse dared to compete with her for food – truly a case of a tiger fallen in a plain being bullied by dogs?

Mason innocently had a few hairs pulled and an unwarranted slap, his face flushing alternately pale and pained, glaring at the woman slumbering in the sheets.

She breathed rhythmically, seemingly disturbed in her sleep, her delicate brows lightly frowned.

Mason’s anger vanished completely, and with a sigh, he kissed the corner of her mouth, then got out of bed to take a shower.

After his shower, Aurelia remained in the same sleeping position when he left, curled even tighter, resembling a shrimp, clutching the thin blanket with her fingers, her brows still furrowed with unshakable worry.

Mason’s brow creased, his heart inexplicably skipping a beat.

He hurried over, his steps scattered and urgent, pressing Aurelia’s chin.

Aurelia furrowed her brows, her eyes slowly opening slightly, "It hurts..."

Mason immediately let go, his face still marked with lingering tension and concern. Sighing, he rubbed her cheek, speaking softly near her ear to comfort her: "Be good, keep sleeping, I’m heading to the company."
