Mason Nightshade listened to what Aurelia Shaw said and furrowed his brow slightly, "I’ll talk to them."

After hanging up the phone, Mason called the person in charge of watching over Emily Stewart, instructing them to pay attention to her diet and to send a doctor over to check her health.

Grayson Quinn closed his eyes pretending to nap, but upon hearing this, he instantly widened his eyes, "Is your wife pregnant?"

Mason gave him a faint glance, instructed on the other end to pay close attention, hung up the phone, and rudely said, "Did a donkey kick your ears?"

Grayson: "..."

"Are we going or not? Didn’t you say there are new clues, and you’ve found the possible killer?" Mason picked up his coat and headed out.

Grayson dutifully followed, lamenting how hard he worked to find the clues, yet Mason showed no appreciation for him as a good subordinate.

...

Aurelia hung up the phone and prepared to leave the hospital.

She had obtained Emily Stewart’s current address from Mason Nightshade, intending to visit her. However, just as she stepped into the elevator, she experienced a severe dizziness and staggered, eventually fainting.

Viscount Alaric Wood followed right behind her, contemplating how Aurelia Shaw was still her usual ungrateful self, intending to teach her a lesson, only to witness her collapsing.

Viscount Alaric Wood hurried forward, his steps chaotic, his charming face turning instantly somber. He held Aurelia in his arms, his grip on her shoulders tense to the point where his fingertips were turning white.

"Aurelia?! Aurelia!!"

Viscount Alaric Wood carried Aurelia out of the elevator in wide strides.

The doctors were startled, seeing the young master, who was usually a carefree playboy in front of them, never having been so anxious for anyone, with a grim expression and a vicious glare as if ready to tear everyone apart.

He practically yelled at them, "What are you standing around for!? Save her! If something happens to her, none of you will be working anymore, pack your things and get out! And don’t even think about your salaries!"

...

The air emanated a strange odor, the walls around were starkly white and barren, and everyone in the lab was fixated on the person on the bed, who was hooked up to numerous instruments, especially around the head.

The person on the bed slowly opened his eyes, his dark pupils bottomless and chillingly deep, with hollow depth like a bloom of decayed but dangerously beautiful flower, his gaze bewildered. He sat up, the white sheet sliding off his body, revealing a well-built upper torso.

Vaila Mook was visibly tense, "Alaric?"

Alaric Wood, calling the person on the bed yet seemingly calling someone else.

Alaric looked down at his hands, his gaze confused yet chilling, "No."

Vaila showed a disappointed expression, Alaric paused briefly, then continued, "To be precise, not entirely; I remember a bit but not everything. You’ve worked hard."

He disconnected the instruments from his body and walked out of the lab.

He felt something peculiar about his state, as a surge of inexplicable emotions inexplicably emerged from his brain.

What’s stranger is that these emotions didn’t belong to someone else; they were his own.

He knew he had forgotten something from the very start, some important individuals or matters, yet no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t recall them. He even felt as if those things and people shouldn’t exist in his mind at all. Complex guesses and a blank mind tortured his nerves, and Vaila had done a lot to help him remember.

Vaila watched as Alaric walked away, a look of disappointment in her eyes, yet a hint of complex cold gleam unknowingly flashed through her gaze.

...

"The bait we’ve set out has already hooked the fish, and we’ve prepared an ambush; this time Mason won’t be coming back." Vaila found Alaric, who was hiding alone.

Alaric sat on the windowsill, his thumb rubbing against his finger. The vacant touch seemed to leave his heart empty as well, instinctively glancing at his index finger, always feeling that something used to be there.
