Chapter 1250: Secretly Altering Medical Records
Aurelia Shaw woke up in the hospital, and in her blurry line of sight the first thing that came into view was Viscount Zhou’s anxious face, his brows tightly knitted, even his usually cute little tiger teeth looking dark and serious.
"What’s with that poker face? Anyone who doesn’t know what’s going on would think you’re here to mourn the dead." Aurelia rubbed her aching head and said in an easy tone.
The doctors all let out a breath of relief. When the young master saw Miss Shaw pass out, the entire hospital almost turned into a purgatory, his oppressive aura making it hard for people to breathe.
Viscount Zhou’s expression immediately sank. "What the hell are you saying! Tell me honestly, is there some major defect with your body that you’ve been hiding from me all this time? Otherwise how the hell did you suddenly pass out?!"
His tone was stern as he questioned her, but Aurelia only tugged at the corner of her mouth in a faint smile. "What nonsense are you imagining? If there was some huge problem with my body, you’d be the first to know. You already had the doctors check me inside and out a long time ago, remember? How could I possibly hide anything from you? Okay, okay, my guess is I’ve just been too tired lately."
Aurelia tried to jump off the bed, but the moment she sat up she was firmly pushed back down by Viscount Zhou. "You’re not going anywhere today. Just lie in bed and rest like a good girl for your lord and master!"
"I..."
"Or I’ll call Mason Nightshade." Viscount Zhou cut her off before she could get another word out.
Aurelia’s mouth, which had just opened, snapped shut again. She yanked the blanket over her head and shouted dully from underneath, "Traitor! Turn right when you leave and don’t let me see you."
Viscount Zhou felt a twist of something complicated in his chest. He was the one who met her first, the one who treated each other as the most important person. So why had someone else quietly taken over her heart without a sound?
...
Once the door shut, Aurelia finally pulled down the blanket. The easy expression on her face was now sickly pale, her brows knotted tightly together. She let out a low moan of pain, biting down hard on her lower lip so no one outside would notice. It felt like her brain was being torn open from the inside—roughly, cruelly. The pain came in waves, her lips turning white, her body curling up into a tight ball.
After a long time, Aurelia finally caught her breath, panting harshly as she came back to herself. Her trembling fingers dialed Hadrian Turner’s number.
"Help me change my hospital record to ’overwork’." She tried her best to keep her voice steady, not letting anyone detect anything off about her.
Hadrian Turner found it strange. He couldn’t hear anything unusual from her voice, but... hospital? Medical record? Aurelia was hospitalized?
He opened his mouth but still didn’t ask if she was okay. Instead, he pulled up the hospital system records, his fingers moving quickly and efficiently as he changed the diagnosis to something else. Behind the lenses, his eyes held none of a young man’s shy gentleness; under the dim light they were sharp, his lips pressed into a cold, straight line.
His finger paused over the delete key, the pupils behind the lenses suddenly widening slightly.
This is...
...
Aurelia stayed in the hospital all afternoon. As the sky outside the window grew dark, she left the hospital without telling anyone.
She got into the car heading back to the old estate before finally sending a text to Viscount Zhou.
"I’m going home. Relax, your girl can still eat and drink and even run away from a hospital. What big trouble could possibly happen?"
The next second Viscount Zhou’s call came in, and the moment it connected his voice blasted through, filled with anger—"Aurelia! Shaw!"
Aurelia guiltily touched her nose. "I’ll treat you to a meal and apologize another day. You know my guy has a bad temper. If he finds out I fainted and ended up in the hospital, I can kiss walking on my own two legs goodbye for the rest of my life."
"I never should’ve bothered with you!"
Viscount Zhou roared and hung up.
Aurelia put away her phone and suddenly felt a gaze fall on her. She lifted her eyes slightly toward the driver at the wheel.
