Chapter 1251: The Struggle Between the Main House and the Second House
The darkness seemed painted with heavy ink and color, the weak light felt lonely, leading to the old house through a deserted area. Aurelia Shaw noticed the car gradually veering off the correct route, a curve lifting on her red lips.
She chuckled softly, "Driver, isn’t this route a bit off?"
"I’m taking a shortcut." Looking around, it grew increasingly desolate, pitch black with no passing vehicles, the driver’s bold gaze began scrutinizing Aurelia Shaw.
Aurelia Shaw was a refined beauty; even without makeup, her almond-shaped eyes exuded charm, naturally possessing glamour. At this moment, she wore hospital clothes, her beautiful face tinged with a sickly pallor, inducing a kind of pitiful and endearing pathological beauty.
"Is that so?" Aurelia’s mouth formed a half-smile, her eyelids lowered, long lashes shielding the depth of her eyes.
Just then, her phone rang. She glanced at the caller ID and answered, "Officer Fang."
The driver’s expression slightly shifted, his eyes fixed on Aurelia and her phone, his audacious and lewd gaze gradually turning cautious and vigilant, sweat beginning to bead on his forehead.
The police officer asked her a few questions before ending the call.
Aurelia mumbled to herself, "Just because it’s related to a murder case, they call endlessly every day even though there’s no evidence proving I’m the killer."
After saying this, Aurelia glanced outside, disdainfully laughing coldly to herself. The route remained unchanged; evidently, her adversary hadn’t abandoned his intentions.
Thinking just because she’s a woman, and a patient, there’s an opportunity to exploit?
The car stopped in a desolate spot. The driver pulled out a gleaming knife, "Get out!"
Aurelia’s eyes narrowed coldly as she stepped out.
Feeling the sharp blade pressing against her lower back, a coarse male voice threatened her, "Take off your clothes."
Long fingers brushed upward, revealing a small thin portion of her back, suddenly! Aurelia swiftly spun around, fingers gliding over her thigh, now holding a sharp knife in her palm. The blade flashed, accompanied by screams, the driver clutching his leg and collapsing to the ground.
Aurelia picked up the driver’s phone, and dialed the police, "I’m reporting, a driver attempted to assault a female passenger, the address is..."
After hanging up, Aurelia boarded the car and drove away.
Leaving the car nearby, Aurelia walked back to the old house, passing through the yard and heard a voice when she walked by the side building.
It was Isabella Bradford.
"Are you looking for Mason Nightshade? He’s not back yet; come sit with me a while."
Aurelia pondered for a moment, "No, madam, another day then; I won’t disturb your rest."
Isabella watched Aurelia’s departing figure, about to say something.
Aurelia paused in her steps, abruptly recalling something, looking towards the plainly dressed middle-aged woman. Her attire was far from luxurious, resembling more an ordinary woman than a lady of a noble house, "If you have the time, give Victoria Blake a call, let her visit you; she mentioned you to me before."
Isabella was taken aback.
Aurelia had already walked afar.
...
Isabella returned to her place, but suddenly halted her steps, looking at the woman blocking her way.
Sophie Nye.
The two were always at odds; the rivalry between the two families temporarily ceased after Godwin Nightshade’s death, but Sophie’s strong-willed nature refused to bow before Isabella. After Godwin’s death, instead of restraining herself, Sophie grew even more audacious. Back then Isabella was not as detached as now; the two fought intensely, until Adem Nightshade’s death, Mason’s return, and Isabella’s retreat to the side courtyard isolating herself from outside affairs, marking the end of their conflict.
