Chapter 1252: The Man in the Dream
"Don’t think I don’t know what you’re plotting," Sophie Nye shrieked.
Isabella Bradford laughed scornfully, "Don’t think everyone is as filthy as you; your husband died, and you use your son’s influence. Only a heartless mother like you can do such a thing."
"You want to use—but where’s your son? Where is he?" Sophie Nye mocked coldly.
Isabella Bradford’s face stiffened for a moment, her fingers quietly clenched, and she took a deep breath, "Sophie Nye, I don’t want to argue with you. Haven’t you already gotten what you wanted? Why are you still arguing with me here? Are you trying to flaunt what you already have, or are you afraid? Afraid these things won’t belong to you soon?"
"You!" Sophie Nye snapped in anger.
Isabella Bradford ignored her and left.
"Isabella Bradford, everyone thinks you are heartbroken over your dead husband and son, holed up in your ramshackle house, and won’t come out. Don’t think you can trick me too! Let me tell you, the mistress of the Nightshade Family will always be me alone, you can forget about it!"
Isabella Bradford’s steps paused for a moment, but only briefly, then continued on.
Sophie Nye narrowed her ferocious eyes slightly, a cold light flickering across her gaze. Others may not understand this woman, but she did; she was even stronger than herself. Could she really watch as someone else tramples over her head and flaunts it? This woman must already be secretly plotting something.
Perhaps, she’s already implementing her plan.
...
Aurelia Shaw waited and waited for Mason Nightshade, and fell asleep.
Her sleep was restless, filled with many dreams.
The surrounding fire was intense, its terrifying crackling licking at her body, exuding the nauseating scent of cooked meat, thick and overwhelming, choking her lungs with painful spasms, as a tall and sturdy figure rushed towards her anxiously.
He grabbed her wrist, his palm burning hot, with an astonishing strength, "Aurelia, I’m back!"
The night wind was cool, the curtains fluttered, and the tall, robust figure of the man blended into the night, his deep, bottomless dark eyes tightly fixed on the sleeping woman in the bed.
His rough fingers caressed her face, his gaze gentle as a crescent moon in the sky, yet cold and indifferent to anyone’s touch, gently smoothing her slightly furrowed brow.
...
"Aurelia... Aurelia... Aurelia..."
Aurelia Shaw jolted awake from her dream, sitting up abruptly, gasping for breath, her eyes filled with lingering fear, her pajamas soaked with sweat, clinging coldly to her back, sending chills down her spine.
"Miss Aurelia, are you alright?" the servant asked concernedly.
Aurelia shook her head and looked at the bed next to her.
Flat, without a dip, showing no signs of someone having slept there.
Aurelia’s heart flooded with disappointment, "Where’s Mason?"
"Master didn’t come back last night," the servant replied.
"Didn’t come back?" Aurelia furrowed her brow, her eyelid twitching fiercely, feeling unease in her heart, as if something bad had happened.
She hurriedly climbed out of bed and changed her clothes.
She called Mason Nightshade, and no one answered for a long time.
The feeling of panic in her heart was becoming more evident.
Aurelia tried calling Grayson Quinn, but his phone was off as well. This situation has happened before; when Mason Nightshade was on a mission, both he and his people would have their phones turned off.
But for unknown reasons, Aurelia’s heart was still anxious.
Her fingertips trembling, she composed a text message to Mason Nightshade; Mason had said he would be able to see her messages no matter what and would reply to her.
Unless...
