Chapter 130: The Chickens Come Home to Roost
"Don’t! I’m not... seeing anyone! Except for you and the doctor... I’m not seeing anyone!" Melody slurred, her words thick.
She was genuinely afraid Rose Shaw would come over; after all, Rose was right here in Jansburg.
"I get it," Talia Mercer nodded. "But we can’t get too optimistic about the situation online. After all, the difference in fan numbers is just too big. You have a hundred thousand, and he has over ten million."
Melody nodded. Her current number of followers was certainly no match for Raymond Ford’s.
"The good thing is, you already laid the groundwork. You posted that photo of you eating with Raymond, and then this happened right after. Now he’s in a position where he can’t talk his way out of it. Your fans are starting to get angry, too. You never clarified any of the past dirt on you, and with Raymond’s fans making such a fuss, your fans would only occasionally speak up for you. They were always shouted down so badly they couldn’t fight back. Now, they’re mobilizing in droves."
Talia Mercer had been keeping a close eye on the post she made.
She had posted a picture of the ambulance and Melody’s hand with an IV drip.
"The fans are all worried about you. Let me read you some comments."
"My heart aches for Melody, get well soon."
"When are we going to get some justice for Melody? I feel like I’m going to explode every time I see news about her lately!"
"They throw all sorts of slander at Melody, and this time they got physical, is that it!"
"I’m going to curse out Raymond Ford! Bitch! Sit tight and wait for the takedown!"
Talia looked at Melody. "See? Our fans are pretty fierce. Let me go check what’s happening on Raymond’s end."
Melody watched Talia’s intense expression and couldn’t help but smile.
But as soon as she cracked a smile, disaster struck—she started drooling uncontrollably again!
Her mind instantly conjured an image of herself looking like a drooling idiot.
In reality, she just hadn’t looked in a mirror.
Her current appearance was uglier than the idiot she’d imagined.
"Melody!" Talia suddenly shrieked. "Dirt on Raymond! Oh my god, this is so juicy!"
...
Melody’s fans had started to make a move, and just as Raymond Ford was preparing to fight back, a post suddenly appeared online.
It was about something that had happened when he was in university. Looking at the photo and the description of the event, his blood ran cold.
The bombshell was dropped from a social media account with a "verified dancer" tag. However, the account’s profile picture was a photo of the user in a wheelchair.
The first pinned post read: [Raymond Ford! The heavens are watching. It’s not that there’s no retribution, its time just hasn’t come!]
It quickly captured everyone’s attention, with people clamoring to know the truth.
The account owner was a dancer who had once been a prominent figure at their university.
During her sophomore year, she fell down a flight of stairs and broke her leg, which put an end to her dream of dancing. Now, she runs a dance training center.
She directly accused Raymond Ford of being the culprit who caused her to fall down the stairs all those years ago!
Then, a few other classmates from the same performance department as Raymond Ford also liked the post.
These people worked in stage productions and were reasonably well-known in their own circles.
By liking the post, they were essentially confirming they believed the story.
Raymond hadn’t even started to clash with Melody’s side when this mess landed in his lap. And it was a particularly thorny one.
’This happened so long ago, why is it being brought up again now? They don’t have any proof, so they must be taking advantage of this thing with Melody to try and ruin me!’
’There’s no way I’ll let them get away with this!’
...
"Melody, is what this post says true? This blogger, Claire Ross... her story is so tragic! She had so much promise, only to end up with a broken leg."
