Chapter 187: The Child Misses His Mom

It was past ten o’clock when they got off the plane.

Ian Monroe had been incredibly energetic on the plane, but he was clearly less lively after they landed.

They had gone straight from kindergarten to the airport without even eating dinner.

"We’ll eat once we get to the hotel," Evan Fairchild said softly, looking down at Ian Monroe.

"Is Mommy at the hotel?"

"No, Mommy doesn’t know we’re here yet."

"Are we going to give Mommy a surprise?"

"A surprise?" Evan Fairchild smiled and nodded. "Good idea."

He bent down and lifted Ian Monroe into his arms.

"I can walk on my own," Ian Monroe said, a little unaccustomed to being held.

This was the first time Evan Fairchild had ever held Ian Monroe. An unusual feeling stirred in both their hearts—indescribable, yet utterly marvelous.

To Ian Monroe, this embrace felt different from his mother’s.

He didn’t like being too physically close with people, and at first, he had been resistant to his father as well.

But now, being held in his father’s arms, he was surprised to find that feeling of resistance had vanished.

"Mr. Fairchild, can we come every week from now on?"

"What do you think?" Evan Fairchild asked in return.

"Dad! Can we come see Mommy every week from now on?" Ian Monroe immediately asked again.

"Yes."

"Thank you," Ian Monroe said softly.

"Ian Monroe, think about it. If you’re willing to help Dad out a little, Mom marries Dad, and the three of us can be together forever. Wouldn’t that be nice?"

"No. We can’t force Mommy," Ian Monroe said, immediately shaking his head.

Evan Fairchild was speechless.

Keith Coleman was waiting for them outside the airport. As soon as he saw Evan Fairchild approaching with Ian Monroe in his arms, he hurried forward to greet them.

"President Fairchild, I’m aware of what happened on set. She’s already retaliated," Keith Coleman said immediately.

’He never imagined that for such a trivial matter, the big boss would personally rush over with the little boss!’

’Did the big boss actually plant someone on the set, too?’

’The man’s completely obsessed with spoiling his wife!’

"Proceed with your plan for this matter," Evan Fairchild replied quietly.

"Then, President Fairchild, why did you come all the way from Rockwellburg to Jansburg?"

"The boy misses his mother."

Keith Coleman was speechless.

’Don’t you mean *you* miss *your* wife?’

’Using his own son as an excuse.’

...

Melody Monroe was relaxing with a face mask on while soaking in a milk bath when her phone, which she’d set aside, suddenly rang.

She opened WeChat and immediately sat bolt upright.

"The Javian Hotel, Presidential Suite. Are you coming over on your own, or should I come pick you up?"

Melody Monroe stared blankly at the message.

’What did Evan Fairchild mean, sending her a message like this at this hour?!’

’The Javian Hotel... Isn’t that the five-star hotel just a short distance away?’

’He’s in Jansburg?’

’And he’s waiting for me at a hotel?’

All sorts of thoughts began to race through her mind...

Suddenly, a blush crept up her face.

Her thoughts drifted to that one morning when she had just woken up to find Evan Fairchild suddenly in her room. They had almost...

She glanced at the message on her phone again.

’Could I just not go?! Or pretend I didn’t see it?’

’That’s it, I just didn’t see it. I’m already asleep!’

Her phone pinged again.

"Are you coming over on your own, or should I come pick you up?

Melody Monroe was speechless.

"President Fairchild, you’re in Jansburg?"

"Mm."

"It’s so late, I’ve already gone to bed."

"I’ll come pick you up. If you get up now, I’ll be there in about half an hour."

Melody Monroe agonized over it. ’Does this mean I have no choice but to go?’

’But if I go...’

’Wouldn’t it... No, it would *definitely* lead to some... indescribable things happening.’
