Jasper Rockwell immediately took two steps back. Even from that distance, he felt as if that single glare had skinned him alive.
"You used my name?" Evan Fairchild stood up.
Jasper Rockwell instinctively threw his hands over his head.
But Evan Fairchild just picked up his cup and refilled it with hot water.
Jasper Rockwell let out a sigh of relief. "It’s a small production, a few tens of millions at most. Compared to your usual investments in the hundreds of millions, this is barely worth mentioning. And besides, there’s a return on it! There’s no way we’ll lose money!"
"You made the promise, you make the investment," Evan Fairchild said, walking to the window with his cup.
The wide, floor-to-ceiling windows offered an expansive view. As the thought of that kid crossed his mind, his brows furrowed slightly.
"Where am I supposed to get that kind of money?! I’m in my self-sufficient phase right now! Forget tens of millions, my dad won’t even give me a thousand bucks! I’m working for you, Boss!" Jasper Rockwell put on a pitiful expression, laying it on thick.
"I can send someone to appraise the cars in your garage. Selling ten or so of them should be more than enough."
Jasper Rockwell felt a sharp pain in his chest. He quickly clutched it with his hand, looking as though he was about to suffocate.
"I was only doing this for..."
A single glance from Evan Fairchild silenced Jasper Rockwell immediately.
"What’s Zane Langdon’s take on that actress?"
"Of course Zane Langdon isn’t willing! With his level of fame, he wouldn’t have to put up with this kind of insult even if he hadn’t signed with us! Now that he’s with Starfall, if we don’t step in, word will get out and it’ll be your reputation on the line."
"Tommy."
Tommy entered at once, standing respectfully before Evan Fairchild to await his instructions.
"Go find out how much the investment will be. And while you’re at it, release the news that Zane Langdon has signed with Starfall."
’He agreed!’ Jasper Rockwell was secretly delighted, but he’d also had the fright of his life.

"I just don’t want your personal affairs affecting the company’s reputation. You represent Starfall, so you need to maintain a professional distance from people who aren’t affiliated with us! If you were to quit your job as Zane Langdon’s personal assistant and cut all ties with Starfall, then you could do whatever you want and chase whoever you want!"
"Alright, alright, you win," Jasper Rockwell conceded immediately.
