Ian Monroe finally saw his mom come over and immediately leaned toward her. ’Now, Mom belongs to me!’

After seeing Evan Fairchild and Ian Monroe off, Melody Monroe had just settled into the car when Tommy handed her a document.

"Mrs. Fairchild, this is the purchase agreement. Please take a look."

"Tommy, there’s something I need to talk to you about."

"What is it?"

"Could you please not call me Mrs. Fairchild? Miss Monroe or Melody is fine."

"Why?" Tommy asked in return.

"Mr. Fairchild and I don’t have the kind of relationship you think we do."

"But President Fairchild never said you don’t have that kind of relationship, did he? Besides, he’s given his tacit approval for me to address you this way."

Melody Monroe: ... ’Evan Fairchild gave his tacit approval? Why do I suddenly feel a little short of breath?!’

"You must have misunderstood. It’s not that Mr. Fairchild tacitly approved; he just didn’t clarify it in front of the child."

"That’s not it, Mrs. Fairchild. I’ve been with President Fairchild for ten years. If he hadn’t given his tacit approval for me to call you that, I’m afraid you would have never seen me again."

Melody Monroe’s heart suddenly skipped a beat.

"Mrs. Fairchild, there’s also a renovation contract here. I found a few companies and made some comparisons. Please take a look and decide which one you want for the renovation."

Melody Monroe pulled the contract from the folder.

"Imperia?" That was the most expensive residential complex in Jansburg—bar none.

The price of over sixty million stunned Melody Monroe for a moment. Then, she was stunned again.

Because of two words: Full payment.

"As for the renovation company, which one do you think is best? I don’t know much about this." Melody Monroe looked at Tommy. ’How could Evan Fairchild just casually hand over such a huge matter to me?’

"How about this: whenever you have time, Mrs. Fairchild, I’ll arrange meetings with the heads of these companies. You can make a decision after that."

"Alright."

Melody Monroe put the contracts away and gazed out the window. The sky was gradually darkening.

The streets below were bustling with traffic and extraordinarily lively.

She looked at the two empty seats beside her, and her heart suddenly felt just as empty.

’I wonder if they’ve boarded the plane yet?’

’Why am I already missing them when we just parted?’

...

Evan Fairchild and Ian Monroe boarded the plane and took their seats.

Ian Monroe was silent the entire time, his little face tense.

His mood on the way back was completely different from when he arrived.

"What’s wrong? Still angry?" Evan Fairchild spoke up.

"I’m not angry."

"Are you still sulking because I didn’t buy you a phone?"

"Of course not! Not buying a phone can save Mom some money."

"You could also ask me for money. Besides, I give you an allowance every month."

Ian Monroe looked up at Evan Fairchild. "Mr. Fairchild, can I ask you a question?"

"Call me Dad."

Ian Monroe ignored him and asked directly, "How much did the house we live in now cost?"

Evan Fairchild didn’t understand why Ian Monroe was suddenly asking this question, but he answered anyway, "Eighty million."

Ian Monroe thought for a moment and started counting on his fingers. But he had no real concept of such a large number; it just felt like a lot.

A few more traces of worry appeared on his little face.

"When will Mom be able to earn that much money?" Ian Monroe muttered to himself.

Evan Fairchild overheard, and his brow tightened.

"I’m not buying anything anymore! I’m going to save all my money!"

"What do you mean?" Evan Fairchild still didn’t understand what the boy was thinking.

"Mom said that when she can afford the house you live in now, she’ll take Ian away with her! Ian doesn’t like Dad! Ian wants to go with Mom!"

Evan Fairchild: ...
