Chapter 281: The First Who Won’t Let You Off
Keith Coleman was a staunch bachelor who believed in no marriage and no kids. He’d had so many girlfriends he probably couldn’t even count them all.
What Rose Shaw needed was a reliable, down-to-earth man. Only then could she feel secure enough to move on from the shadows of her past.
Rose Shaw finished her cold drink, feeling a bit better. She said to Melody Monroe, "I’m heading back to the office. You should go home and get some rest."
"Okay." Melody Monroe nodded.
"Keith, take Melody home."
"Sure thing, Rose."
Rose Shaw walked away quickly. ’She really couldn’t stand Keith Coleman. The way he said her name gave her goosebumps.’
Keith Coleman watched Rose Shaw leave. When he turned back, he met Melody Monroe’s gaze and was startled.
"Keith, do you have a thing for Rose?"
"Rose is so beautiful. Who wouldn’t like her?"
"Keith, let me tell you something. Don’t you dare mess with Rose. If you do, I’ll be the first one to come after you!" Melody’s warning was serious.
’Irresponsible guys like Keith... he could sleep with someone one night and not even remember their name the next morning!’
"What if Rose falls for me?"
Melody suddenly laughed. "Don’t worry, that will never happen."
"Why? Is Rose Shaw in love with someone else?" Keith pressed.
"You’re not her type."
"Then what is her type?"
"At the very least, someone who looks like a man." Melody said before walking ahead.
Keith Coleman mulled over her words carefully.
’Looks like a man?’
’But I am a man! The real deal!’
"Melody, are you saying as long as they’re a man, it’s okay? So I still have a chance, right?!"
Melody: ...
...
When Rose Shaw returned to the office, she saw that the light in Christopher Sterling’s office was on. She walked over to Rachel’s desk and asked quietly, "Is President Sterling back?"
"Yes, he came into the office first thing this morning."
Rose Shaw walked to the office door and knocked lightly.
"Come in."
Rose Shaw walked in. Christopher Sterling’s assistant, Jason Miller, was holding some documents for him to sign.
Christopher Sterling signed the document and handed it to Jason Miller. "You can get back to your work."
"Yes."
Soon, only Rose Shaw and Christopher Sterling were left in the room.
"President Sterling..."
"The project you’re in charge of had its funding pulled. Why didn’t you call me?"
"The person who pulled the funding from this project was none other than your wife!"
"She has no right to inquire about company matters. Let alone interfere."
"But she already has."
Christopher Sterling said nothing. He hadn’t expected Lana Sheffield to secretly open his safe and take those seals, either.
"President Sterling, I’m sorry. This was my failing. You were so busy abroad, so I wanted to try and fix it by finding more sponsors, but I overestimated myself."
"This isn’t your fault."
"Are there any other options? This show is guaranteed to be a hit."
"Let’s put this show on hold for now."
"I heard the company is also planning to invest in a few movies. There must be an opportunity for Melody to get a role in one of them, right?"
"Take Melody to meet the directors. We aren’t the sole investors."
"Okay." Rose Shaw nodded. "I’ll get back to work now."
"Rose, you’ve been looking so worn out lately. Are you not feeling well?"
Rose Shaw quickly raised a hand to her cheek. "I’m fine. I probably just didn’t sleep well last night," she explained hastily.
"Make sure you get some rest. Don’t overwork yourself."
