Chapter 345: A Worried Old Father 2
"Captain, I’m so jealous! AHHHHHH!" Shaun Owen whined, looking at all the gifts.
He had just been livestreaming his heart out for so long and only got a little over a thousand, while Melody Monroe had gotten almost ten thousand in a single minute.
"We should be getting close to the destination now," Nana Owen said, her eyes fixed on the view outside the car window.
"Wow! There’s such a wide river!"
But the mountain road was also getting trickier to navigate.
Suddenly, the vehicle ground to a halt.
"What’s going on?"
"Let’s get out and see."
Everyone got out of the car and saw several fallen rocks blocking the road ahead. The scene looked a little dangerous.
"Cynthia Jacobs, you take over the livestream. The rest of us will go check it out," Melody Monroe instructed.
"Okay," Cynthia Jacobs nodded and turned to the front-facing camera. "Hello, everyone. We’ve run into a bit of trouble on the way to our campsite. It looks like there was a landslide that caused some rocks to fall and pile up on the road. Our vehicle can’t get through, and according to the GPS, we’re still about five kilometers from the campsite."
Melody Monroe walked over to where a few staff members were trying to move the fallen rocks. But the stones were too heavy; the group couldn’t even budge them.
"Could this area be dangerous?" Jenson Yates asked worriedly, scanning the surroundings.
Melody Monroe checked her phone. They were indeed about five kilometers from the campsite.
"Why don’t we just walk the rest of the way? We’ll be about an hour behind schedule," Melody Monroe suggested.
"I think that’s a good idea! Who knows how long we’d have to wait for someone to come clear these rocks, and the rest of the way isn’t that far."
"Alright, everyone back in the vehicle to pack your things."
"We only need to leave one person with the vehicle. They can drive over and meet us once the road is cleared," Melody Monroe said to the accompanying staff.
"Okay."
The audience watching the livestream was completely baffled by this turn of events.
’Is Team Misfortune’s luck really this bad?’
The other team, the one that started their stream almost an hour late, had already reached the destination and started setting up camp.
The other teams were also arriving at the campsite one after another.
Melody Monroe shouldered her backpack and stood in front of the camera. "We’re now preparing to hike to the campsite, and we’ll continue to livestream for you all along the way. We’re heading out."
Their group of six, along with the four accompanying staff members, shouldered their backpacks, carried their equipment, and began walking along the mountain road toward the campsite.
There were also production crew members waiting at the campsite.
They had already been in contact and were aware of the situation on the road.
...
Evan Fairchild had been staring at his phone all morning, completely ignoring his work.
The documents that had been delivered in the morning were still sitting in their original spot, completely untouched.
Watching the situation unfold on the screen, Evan Fairchild felt a surge of worry. He picked up another phone and dialed Keith Coleman’s number.
"President Fairchild!" Keith Coleman answered almost instantly.
"What’s the situation over there?"
"Don’t worry, President Fairchild. She’s perfectly safe. What happened on the road was just an accident. The campsite itself is very secure."
"If you had taken care of Felix Hughes, none of this would have happened!"
"Yes, President Fairchild, I know I was wrong!" Keith Coleman apologized immediately. This was the first time he had made such a major blunder in front of the president.
Evan Fairchild put down the phone, still extremely worried. The show wouldn’t be over for another month.
The very thought of it made him want to break Keith Coleman’s legs.
Tommy pushed the door open and walked in, only to see President Fairchild still glued to his phone. ’He looks just like a worried father,’ Tommy thought.
