Chapter 121: Terrified of a Sudden Official Announcement
"On this journey, you’ve all given me so much warmth and so many moving moments. We are an inseparable whole. Why didn’t I handle this last time, yet my stance is so firm now? It isn’t because of any single person, but because this kind of behavior cannot be encouraged, and I myself cannot accept it. Today, someone told me that you are my armor. I think no word has ever so perfectly described your importance to me. You are my sturdiest armor! With you, I can fearlessly face anything and journey on, through wind and rain."
Melody Monroe scrolled through the comments below and couldn’t help but laugh.
The first comment read: "HOLY SHIT! I had my hand pressed under my nose, ready to keep myself from passing out! Thank god, it wasn’t a relationship announcement, it wasn’t a relationship announcement, it wasn’t a relationship announcement!"
"Same as the commenter above. I’m in the hospital right now, hooked up to an oxygen tank. I was afraid that if it was an official announcement, even the oxygen wouldn’t have saved me!"
"I’m crying! I’m Zane’s armor! I never felt like I was so important to Zane before!"
"For Zane, I’m going to become a better person! I want to be the piece of armor that protects his heart!"
"Zane, through wind and rain! We’re always here, just a glance behind you, protecting you!"
"I’m fucking armor! I’m the armor that protects Zane! Who was it that said that to Zane? I’m stanning them for life!"
"This person... it couldn’t be Melody Monroe, could it?"
When Melody Monroe scrolled to this comment, she suddenly found Mr. Langdon’s fans to be absolutely adorable.
"What are you looking at?" a voice suddenly asked.
Melody Monroe looked up at Jasper Rockwell. "I haven’t seen you in a while. Where have you been?"
"I was trying to stay out of the way of you and Zane Langdon, you know, avoiding rumors. Now that you two aren’t afraid, what the hell have I got to be afraid of!" Jasper Rockwell pulled up a chair and sat down. He unwrapped a lollipop and stuck it in his mouth, then handed his phone to Melody Monroe. "You should follow me, too. Add my WeChat, get my number."
Melody Monroe took Jasper’s phone and used it to call her own. "Which account is yours?"
"I’ve been following you for a while. This one’s me." Jasper Rockwell pulled up his own account.
"So this is you!" Melody Monroe had thought it was strange at the time—this account actually had over three million followers! And it belonged to a race car driver! So it was Jasper Rockwell!
"That’s me!"
"You’re really a race car driver?"
"Yep! Being Zane Langdon’s private assistant is just my side gig."
"Impressive, very impressive!" Melody Monroe gave him a thumbs-up.
After adding him on WeChat, Melody Monroe was immediately pulled into a group chat by Jasper Rockwell. Soon after, Zane Langdon joined as well.
"A group chat for just the three of us?"
"Of course! It’s more convenient!"
"Alright."
...
Zane Langdon’s response once again sparked a heated debate online.
Most fans remained rational, expressing their understanding and support for Zane Langdon’s decision to involve the police.
The media didn’t report on it extensively, and the matter gradually died down, soon falling off the trending charts.
Rose Shaw had been keeping a close eye on the online developments.
She knew Zane Langdon’s team would handle the matter properly, so she didn’t interfere.
She organized the documents on her desk and took them to go see Melody Monroe.
Melody Monroe was running lines with Tiana Gable; they had a scene together to film.
Rose Shaw watched Melody Monroe from a distance, her brow furrowing slightly.
’It’s only been a few days, yet Melody has lost so much weight. There’s a big difference between how someone looks in real life and on camera; in person, she’s now too thin.’
Talia Mercer knew Rose Shaw was coming and had been waiting for her. The moment she spotted Rose, she immediately ran over.
"Rose, you’re here! I’ll go get Melody."
