Chapter 122: Fallen Beyond Saving
"That’s alright, don’t bother her. I’ll wait a little while."
Rose Shaw followed Talia Mercer toward the rest area. Unlike other managers who shadowed their clients day in and day out, Rose Shaw had a team that handled the artists’ daily work and personal lives.
Rose had just sat down when Raymond Ford hurried over. Upon seeing her, Raymond greeted her cheerfully, "Rose, I heard you were here! I can’t believe it’s true. What brings you here today?"
"I came to see Melody, but I thought I’d check in on you as well."
"Thanks, Rose." Raymond Ford sat down in Melody Monroe’s seat without asking.
It wasn’t often that Raymond Ford got to see Rose Shaw, and even though Rose wasn’t here for her, she had no intention of letting this opportunity pass.
"Rose, that cosmetics company that wanted to discuss an endorsement deal last time... has there been any progress on that?"
"That company’s brand isn’t a good match. It targets middle-aged and older consumers, while most of your fans are young people. Endorsing it isn’t suitable for you."
Raymond Ford was a little disappointed.
The endorsement fee they had offered was quite substantial.
’Why wouldn’t Rose agree to it?’
She hadn’t landed an endorsement in over a month. She had very few commercial events, and her number of appearances had been cut in half.
"Raymond, you’re starring in Director Wallace’s film right now, and this is your first time playing the female lead for such a famous director. This film has to be your top priority. Once filming is over and the movie has good reviews and a lot of buzz, do you really think you’ll have trouble finding endorsements? If you want a stable career that goes the distance, you have to take things one step at a time."
"I understand. Thank you, Rose," Raymond Ford replied at once.
But that wasn’t what she was really thinking. ’So why is Rose here to see Melody? The company is already pouring all its resources into her!’
After Melody Monroe and Tiana Gable finished their scene, Melody noticed Rose Shaw had arrived and immediately went to find her.
Seeing Melody approach, Raymond Ford finally got up from the chair. But she didn’t want to leave just yet; she wanted to know why Rose had come to see Melody.
"Rose," Melody said in greeting.
"Mm-hmm." Rose Shaw nodded, noticing Melody’s complexion looked off. "Why do you look so pale?"
"I was filming in the rain yesterday and caught a cold."
"Have you seen a doctor?"
"No, but I took some medicine. I’m feeling much better already."
Raymond Ford shot Melody a look, a sour feeling rising in her heart.
’How long did Melody even film yesterday? And how long did *I* have to film?!’
’Playing the victim. So fake!’
Raymond Ford didn’t leave, and Rose Shaw didn’t say anything to make her. Rose had always conducted her business in a frank and open manner.
"Here’s your schedule for the near future. Take a look."
Melody took the schedule and saw that the first item was crossed out in pen.
"I just crossed that first one out. A few days ago, I received an offer for an endorsement deal with a well-known milk tea brand. I was holding off on confirming it because the fee was too low. Then today, that whole milk tea incident blew up online. If you were to endorse a milk tea brand now, it would be bad for your reputation. So, I decided we’re not taking the deal."
"Okay," Melody nodded.
Raymond Ford smirked to herself. ’So, this incident did have an effect on Melody after all.’
"These next few items are ones I’ve already carefully vetted. If you’re alright with them, we can go ahead and sign the contracts."
"No problem!" ’How could she possibly be picky?’ Melody was desperate for the money.
In truth, she would have taken the milk tea endorsement. ’So what if people criticize me? Let them talk. The money would have ended up in my pocket! Who knows, that endorsement fee might have been enough to buy a bathroom!’
However, she didn’t dare voice these thoughts aloud.
If Rose were to find out, she would surely think Melody had fallen beyond redemption.
