Jasper Rockwell simply sat down beside her and watched her play the game.
He played this game too—and had just casually snagged the number three spot on the combat power rankings.
He noticed Melody Monroe’s account was new, but she played surprisingly well.
After finishing the match, Melody Monroe finally put her phone away.
"Are you leveling up a smurf account?" Jasper Rockwell asked curiously.
"Nope, this is my main."
"You’ve never played before? But you were playing so well just now."
"Is this game supposed to be hard?"
Jasper Rockwell: ... ’Should he admit he was a pay-to-win whale? Being rich means you can do whatever you want!’
"Not hard, not hard at all. I play too," Jasper Rockwell said with a laugh. "Come on, add me. We can play together."
"Sure." Melody Monroe immediately took out her phone. The moment she opened Jasper Rockwell’s profile, her expression went blank.
Jasper Rockwell smugly eyed his full set of top-tier gear, his title, his level ranking, and his combat power ranking. He felt a surge of pride, secretly waiting for Melody Monroe’s words of admiration.
’Don’t worship me. Your big bro is just playing for fun!’
"Are your hands useless, or is your brain?" Melody Monroe suddenly asked.
The confidence on Jasper Rockwell’s face crumbled.
’How dare a newbie like you look down on a pro!’
"This level, this ranking... it’s all from paying to win. If you didn’t develop this game yourself, the developers must be waking up laughing from their dreams! Are you trying to single-handedly support the entire dev team?"
Jasper Rockwell: ...
He had never been on the receiving end of such disdain, let alone such blunt and brutal disdain.
’Then again, she kind of had a point.’
"But, I’ll definitely call you next time I’m grinding mobs. What’s your name, by the way?" Melody Monroe realized she’d been talking to him for a while without even knowing his name.
"I’m Jasper Rockwell. I’m Zane Langdon’s private assistant now."
"Zane Langdon really signed with Starfall?"
Jasper Rockwell beckoned to Melody Monroe, signaling her to lean in closer. "This hasn’t been officially announced yet, but I’ll let you in on a little secret: Zane Langdon has already signed a contract with Starfall."
"So that means you’re both with Starfall now."
"That’s right. By the way, Miss Monroe, I’m very curious—how do you know President Fairchild?" ’He couldn’t get a single shred of information out of Evan Fairchild, so starting with Melody Monroe had to be the right move.’
"I... I don’t really know him well. You couldn’t even say we’re acquainted, really. We... we just met on the night of the charity gala when we got stuck in a broken elevator together," Melody Monroe stammered.
"Oh, so that’s how it is." Jasper Rockwell nodded, feigning understanding.
’Like hell I believe that!’
A sudden commotion broke out up ahead, and both Melody Monroe and Jasper Rockwell looked up in that direction.
"CUT!" Director Wallace yelled, his brows knitted tightly together. "Hailey Paige, do you think you’re playing Rhona Hughes’s character? The moment you see Zane Langdon, you get all hyper!"
"Is this still not delicate enough?" Hailey Paige retorted.
Raymond Ford and Rhona Hughes exchanged a look. The scene had been going perfectly fine until Hailey Paige came in and ruined it all.
"Mr. Langdon, please take a break for a moment," the assistant director immediately said, escorting Zane Langdon off the set.
Once Zane Langdon was gone, the three of them started filming the scene again.
"Rhona Hughes, what’s wrong with you! This slap has to be real!"
Rhona Hughes raised her hand, looking at Raymond Ford with a troubled expression.
"I’m so sorry, Raymond, but I really have to hit you."
"Of course it has to be real. Don’t worry about it so much." ’Besides,’ Raymond Ford thought to herself, ’I’ll be returning the favor soon enough.’
Rhona Hughes raised her hand and slapped Raymond Ford across the face.
Raymond Ford felt a sharp, stinging pain and immediately clutched her cheek!
