"What do you mean by that? Are you planning on keeping Melody Monroe?" Tina Walsh asked, her voice tinged with anger.
"She’s the most promising of our new talents. The company is preparing to invest significant resources in her. We can’t just let her go because of a misunderstanding."
"So some promising little actress is more important than your own wife?"
"Those are two completely different things. They aren’t comparable."
"Until this is resolved, Lana won’t be going back with you! You should leave now."
Christopher Sterling stood up and gave Tina Walsh a polite nod. "Then I’ll be taking my leave."
Lana Sheffield had been eavesdropping on the conversation outside. When she heard what Christopher Sterling said, a surge of anger washed over her. She’d secretly been a little happy that he had come.
’But in the end, he’s actually unwilling to get rid of Melody Monroe!’

Christopher Sterling left without a backward glance. Furious and anxious, Lana Sheffield wanted to chase after him, but Tina Walsh stopped her.

Lana Sheffield stopped in her tracks, her face etched with worry. "Mom, he just left like that. What am I going to do? He didn’t get rid of Melody Monroe, and now he’s ignoring me. I can’t just go back in a few days with my tail between my legs, can I?"

Mason Sheffield walked in from outside, a troubled look on his face. The moment he saw Lana Sheffield, his anger flared.
"What are you doing here?"
"Why can’t I be here? This is my home too."

"Sheffield, what’s wrong with you? If you’re in a bad mood, don’t take it out on the children. Have some water, sit down, and rest for a bit. Why are you back so late today? Isn’t Jude at the company?"

"This doesn’t have anything to do with him," Mason Sheffield said, his gaze shifting back to Lana Sheffield.
"Dad, why are you looking at me! Don’t tell me this has something to do with me? I don’t get involved in company business."
"A few days ago, there was a new project, a collaboration with Evan Fairchild. The negotiations were going well, and then suddenly, Evan Fairchild pulled the project!"
"How could that happen? Are you saying Evan Fairchild pulled out because of the Rockwell Family?" Tina Walsh asked quickly.
"What other reason could there be? As soon as Evan Fairchild returned to the country, he went to the Rockwell estate to visit Mr. Rockwell. And his company headquarters—he didn’t set it up in Argent, he put it in Rockwellburg! The Fairchild Family and the Rockwell Family have always been close. If it’s not because of this, then what is it?"
