Chapter 265: Did I Overdo It?
Rose Shaw conferred with Melody Monroe, then turned and walked over to Keith Coleman. She took the pre-prepared contract out of her bag, wrote "3,000" in the blank space for the salary, and handed it to him.
"I have to sign a contract?" Keith Coleman took it and glanced over it.
’Rose Shaw is so cautious.’ The contract included a few restrictions, like protecting her privacy and so on. It was incredibly thorough.
’He only had one reason for returning to the country, so none of this was an issue.’
With a flourish of his pen, he signed his name.
Rose Shaw pointed a finger at the salary. "Did you see this part?"
Keith actually hadn’t looked.
The number three was a bit of a sensitive topic for him, especially when it was the first digit in a number followed by a few zeros.
But when he confirmed it was just three thousand, a sharp pang shot through his heart!
Three thousand!
’Is this what I’m worth now?’
’Seriously?’
"No problem," Keith said, wanting to cry but finding no tears.
Rose Shaw put the contract away and looked at Melody Monroe. "Bloomwell’s payment has been transferred to the company account. Once finance processes it, it’ll be sent to your account. You should receive it this afternoon."
"Thank you, Rose."
’A one-million fee, split fifty-fifty with the company and after taxes, would still leave her with over four hundred thousand.’
’Adding that to the three hundred thousand-plus she had saved, she would have over seven hundred thousand.’
’In Rockwellburg, that much money was only enough to buy a small apartment.’
’What she wanted was a cozy, four-bedroom home.’
’So, her current savings were still a far cry from her goal.’
"I have something else to take care of, so I’m leaving now."
"Goodbye, Rose!" Keith Coleman immediately waved at Rose Shaw.
Rose Shaw was taken aback and shot Keith Coleman a cold glance.
Melody Monroe couldn’t bear to look.
Winter Kane had already pulled the car over to the side of the road.
"Let’s get going, too."
Keith Coleman suddenly said to Talia Mercer, "Miss, would you mind sitting in the front passenger seat? I have something to discuss with Melody."
Talia Mercer glanced at Keith Coleman. For some reason, his gaze had suddenly turned sharp, leaving no room for argument.
"Talia, you can sit up front."
"Okay." Talia Mercer walked to the front, opened the car door, and got in.
Keith Coleman fawningly hurried to open the car door for Melody Monroe.
Melody Monroe took a seat, and Keith Coleman sat down beside her.
After they were in the car, Keith Coleman pressed a button on the bar console, and a small table slowly rose.
Melody Monroe: ...
’She hadn’t even known this car had a feature like that.’
Keith Coleman stood up and tapped the electronic display screen in front of them a few times.
Melody Monroe watched him, feeling like she was watching a magic trick.
’She had always assumed that display was just a television, but in Keith’s hands, it had transformed into a powerful computer.’
Keith Coleman pulled up the files.
It was a file entirely on Raymond Ford, and it was all incriminating material backed by evidence! Looking at the file, Melody Monroe was too stunned to speak.
’Just who was Keith Coleman? How did he have so much dirt on Raymond Ford?’
’Previously, when Rhona Hughes was running a smear campaign against her, she’d considered hiring someone to investigate Rhona. But the thought of how much it would cost to hire an investigator made her hold back.’
’To her, money was more important.’
"I’ve had this information collected for a while now. The only reason I haven’t released it is that *Warm Wind* hasn’t premiered yet. Raymond Ford is the lead in this drama, and if their reputation is destroyed, it will have a major impact on the show."
A wave of suspicion washed over Melody Monroe.
’Who exactly was Keith Coleman?’
