Evan Fairchild looked at his phone. It was almost time.
The livestream was set to start at eight o’clock sharp, and he had been waiting here since seven-thirty.
Melody Monroe hadn’t contacted him after she arrived, so the only way he could see her was through the livestream.
A bitter and sour feeling washed over Evan Fairchild. It was an unpleasant sensation.
Suddenly, his phone rang. A furious, exasperated voice burst from the other end.
"Evan Fairchild! What the hell is going on? How did your woman get dragged into a scandal with me?" Shawn Fisher bellowed into the phone.
Evan Fairchild was annoyed. The livestream was about to start in two minutes. Shawn Fisher had terrible timing.
"Master Rockwell and Jasper Rockwell got dragged into this too! They aren’t complaining, but you’re making a big deal out of it!"
Shawn Fisher: ...
’What the hell kind of logic was that?!’
"I’m a married man, for crying out loud! I have a wife and a kid!"
"Are you afraid your wife will get the wrong idea?"
"Afraid? Me? My wife loves me and trusts me completely. There’s no way she’d believe such baseless, fabricated rumors!"
"Then why are you calling me?" Evan Fairchild retorted.
Shawn Fisher was speechless.
Evan Fairchild had already hung up.
The livestream had started!
Right on cue, Melody Monroe and her team appeared on screen.
"Hello, everyone! We’re up and at ’em, and today’s livestream is officially starting. We’re about to head over to our campsite, Camp Unlucky," Melody Monroe announced.
"We’re the Unlucky Six!" several team members chimed in with a laugh.
The atmosphere was fantastic.
Watching Melody Monroe, the corners of Evan Fairchild’s lips tilted up slightly.
"If you’ve joined our stream, don’t forget to hit ’Follow’! Down below, you’ll also see support sticks. Every user gets one free stick per day."
Shaun Owen suddenly jumped in front of the camera. "To all our fans who love the Pursuit team, make sure to send them our way!"
Evan Fairchild immediately turned his phone away.
He only turned it back when he heard Melody Monroe’s voice again.
’It would be so much better if all these other people weren’t here,’ he thought. ’Just Melody alone.’
While he was leisurely watching the woman he loved on her livestream, things on Shawn Fisher’s end were not going nearly as well.
Shawn Fisher stood outside a tightly shut door, wondering what his wife was up to. The girl had been running wild lately, and he’d had a hard enough time just coaxing her to come home.
Suddenly, the door opened. A girl walked out, still dressed in a school uniform. Her pretty face was bare of makeup, revealing fair, delicate skin. Seeing Shawn Fisher standing outside, she chewed her gum and blew a bubble.
"Candy, where are you off to?"
"School, obviously."
"Listen, I’m at home taking care of Sweetie every day. Do you really think I have time to be hooking up with some celebrity?! This is a classic case of a scandal appearing out of thin air while I’m just sitting at home! I’m telling you, Melody Monroe is Evan Fairchild’s woman. I have no idea how I got dragged into this!"
Candy nodded, a captivating glint in her beautiful eyes. A single look from her was enough to bewitch Shawn Fisher completely.
Shawn Fisher took Candy’s hand, enveloping her small fingers in his palm. "Studying for your retake exams is tough. Why don’t you take a day off and rest at home, okay?"
