Chapter 341: It’s Your Face I’m Slapping
Watching the two men square off, Rose Shaw stood up and headed upstairs.
’I’ll just ignore them both.’
Felix Hughes immediately chased after her. Not to be outdone, Keith Coleman stood up as well. But just as he was about to take a step, something blocked his way, and he lurched forward uncontrollably.
Thankfully, he managed to grab a nearby table just in time to keep from falling.
He turned his head just in time to see Melody Monroe calmly pulling her foot back.
Say what?!
’Are you serious, Ma’am?’
"Melody, whose side are you on?"
"I just don’t think you and Rose are a good match."
"How so?"
"For starters, the fact that you can hit on three different girls in a single day at work. If I hadn’t seen Director Scott’s photos, I’d have thought you were working incredibly hard every day. Since you’re obviously so free, I’m docking another thousand from your salary this month."
"Like husband, like wife, I guess," Keith muttered.
"Got a problem with that?" Melody hadn’t heard him clearly.
"Not at all!" Keith replied instantly.
’He could offend anyone in the world, but he would never dare to offend his current boss, President Fairchild’s wife!’
...
Back in her room, Eileen Scott rushed to the bathroom to check her face. In the mirror, both her cheeks were swollen, marked with bright red palm prints.
She immediately grabbed her phone and sent a video call request to Lana Sheffield.
Lana Sheffield froze the moment she saw Eileen’s face.
"Eileen, what happened to your face? Are you hurt?"
"Lana! I... Melody Monroe hit me! She’s the one who did this to my face!"
"What? Melody Monroe dared to hit you?" Lana Sheffield’s voice jumped a few octaves.
"Yes! It was her. Lana, you have to get Christopher to kick her out of the company! She’s completely out of control!"
"And Wayne Payne? Where the hell did he disappear to?" Lana Sheffield was furious, not because her sister had been beaten so brutally, but because Melody Monroe had dealt a vicious blow to her pride.
’Hitting Eileen was the same as hitting me!’
’That Melody Monroe... she’s using Eileen to get back at me!’
’Last time, I slapped Melody once. This time, she slaps Eileen twice.’
"Wayne Payne is in the hospital," Eileen said, fat tears of indignation rolling down her cheeks.
"In the hospital?" Lana had no idea what could have happened for Wayne Payne to end up there. "Tell me everything, right now! What exactly happened?!"
Through her tears, Eileen recounted the entire incident. "Lana, Wayne Payne is still at the hospital. He hasn’t come back yet. Melody Monroe and Rose Shaw have absolutely no respect for you! We absolutely cannot let them stay at Stellaris!"
Lana had sent Eileen and Wayne over primarily to keep Melody from stealing the show. If Melody actually became a big star, it would be that much harder to drive her out of Stellaris later on.
There was another reason, too: she wanted to find out who exactly was backing Melody.
If it really was Shawn Fisher, it wasn’t a dead end. He was a married man, after all. She refused to believe his wife would tolerate such a humiliation.
If she could get his wife to do the dirty work, all she’d have to do is sit back and enjoy the show.
But if it was the Second Young Master of the Rockwell family...
Lana Sheffield suddenly felt even more unsettled. Even though their engagement was never fulfilled, he was, in a manner of speaking, the man she had been betrothed to.
’Melody must have latched onto the Rockwell family before I even met Christopher!’
Then again, Raymond Ford had told her that a man named Jasper Rockwell, one of Zane Langdon’s associates, was getting very close to Melody. It seemed this Jasper really liked her.
