Chapter 286: Sparing No Expense
Melody Monroe was still practicing her song on her phone, and she looked up in surprise when she saw Rose Shaw had returned.
"Rose, didn’t you say you were going downstairs to buy something?"
"I’ll go later."
"What’s wrong?"
"I ran into Keith Coleman!" These days, just the mention of his name was enough to put Rose in a foul mood.
"He’s here?"
"Yeah. He upgraded his room and is staying on our floor. I’ve never despised someone so much," Rose said, shaking her head.
Melody Monroe was speechless.
’What else could she say? She should just keep practicing her song so she wouldn’t end up embarrassing herself.’
...
The *Warm Wind* roadshow, with Zane Langdon’s participation, had drawn a sea of people to the stadium. Many fans who couldn’t even get tickets refused to leave, hoping just to catch a glimpse of him.
Only Zane Langdon had this kind of drawing power, able to create such a buzz before a show had even aired.
When he first shot to fame and his fanbase exploded, there were plenty of haters.
They said he was completely propped up by his fans and that once his moment in the spotlight was over, no one would buy into it anymore.
But Zane Langdon’s projects only got more popular, one after the other. Far from being a flash in the pan, he cemented his position at the very peak of stardom, and his fanbase just kept growing.
Since he was willing to participate, the director, the film crew, and the event’s corporate partners were all more than happy to oblige.
Jasper Rockwell sat in a corner of the makeup room with a lollipop in his mouth. Zane Langdon was in the middle of getting styled.
The more Jasper thought about it, the more something felt off.
’Zane isn’t exactly free these days, is he? He’s already landed a new series, and filming is about to start! For him to come to this event now... his schedule must be incredibly tight.’
Sean Coleman hurried in, a stack of documents in his hand.
"Zane, here’s the script. The table read was today, and everyone got their copy. All the main cast was there; I had to stand in for you."
"Thanks," Zane Langdon said softly.
"Zane, I just have to ask, what are you doing all this for?" Sean Coleman couldn’t help but complain.
Zane Langdon shot him a look, and Sean Coleman immediately shut his mouth.
’Wasn’t everything Zane was doing for Melody Monroe?!’
’After rumors spread about her and the head of Stellaris, Melody Monroe was being blackballed by the CEO’s wife. Many of her activities were canceled, and she hadn’t been cast in any new shows.’
’He’d heard she was desperately looking for opportunities, only to be met with dead ends everywhere she went.’
’That was why Zane had pulled some strings to get *Warm Wind* released early.’
’If audience reception was good and the series became a hit, it would boost Melody’s career immensely. It might not land her a new role right away, but it would definitely lead to some event offers.’
’Plus, with Zane personally attending, he would surely boost Melody’s popularity, both overtly and behind the scenes.’
"You have to attend the opening ceremony for the new show tomorrow! So, after this event tonight, we have to leave right away to prepare."
"We’ll talk after the event is over," Zane Langdon nodded.
’Melody had agreed to have dinner with him, though she did say she was bringing Jasper Rockwell and one other person. Still, she hadn’t actually extended the invitation yet.’
’He was still waiting for her invitation.’
...
Rose Shaw had brought several outfits for Melody Monroe. Seeing the designer labels, Talia Mercer’s face filled with envy.
"Rose, you really splurged! None of these outfits are cheap!"
"They’re rented," Rose answered bluntly.
Melody Monroe didn’t dare say a word. ’After all, row upon row of these very same brands were hanging in the walk-in closet of Evan Fairchild’s mansion.’
