Chapter 285: It Has Come to This
"Are you sure I’ll gain followers and not lose them? I only have about a million, and I bet half of them will unfollow me after they see my performance!"
"Don’t be so hard on yourself. Think, what’s a talent you can show off?"
"Hello everyone, I’m Melody Monroe, and for my talent, I’ll smash a boulder on my chest!"
"Pfft!" Rose Shaw sputtered with laughter.
Melody Monroe actually had such a tomboyish side to her.
"Rose, stop laughing and help me!" Melody Monroe pleaded, grabbing Rose Shaw’s hand.
"Just sing! You have a nice voice. That’s a safer bet."
"But I’ve never really sung before. Can I do it?" Melody Monroe had zero confidence.
"It’s still early. Let’s go practice right now," Rose Shaw said, pulling Melody Monroe out the door.
Rose Shaw really was a woman of action!
Melody Monroe was still hesitant, but there was no other choice now. She was being forced to sink or swim!
...
Raymond Ford had received an invitation and had taken two days off from her film set specifically to attend.
This was the first series where she was truly the female lead, and she was co-starring with Zane Langdon. She had to seize this opportunity to increase her exposure. It would also build hype for her new show!
This time, she spared no expense, buying several outfits to style herself with the air of an A-list star.
Keith Coleman took the high-speed rail and didn’t arrive until that evening.
’How many years has it been since I’ve been treated like this?!’
’It’s beyond words!’
’Next time, I’m not letting them pay. I’ll pay for it myself.’
When he got to the hotel, he wanted to cry but had no tears. It was a standard single room—the cheapest kind!
"Upgrade my room."
"Of course, sir. Which room type would you like to upgrade to?"
"The deluxe suite."
"Certainly, sir. I’ll upgrade you now. You’ll just need to pay the price difference of seventeen hundred. How would you like to pay?"
"Card!" Keith Coleman said, pulling one out and handing it to the receptionist.
’Ah, life! It’s always full of unpredictable little disasters. To think that someone of my status could be reduced to this!’
Suddenly, he spotted a familiar figure and immediately grabbed his suitcase to chase after her.
"Rose!"
The moment Rose Shaw heard him call her name, she quickened her pace and bolted forward. She ducked into an elevator and started frantically mashing the buttons.
Just as the elevator doors were sliding shut, Keith Coleman stuck a hand between them, forcing them to open again. He quickly squeezed inside.
Rose Shaw: ...
"Rose, it must be fate that we’d run into each other here."
"You’re staying here, and I’m staying here. Isn’t it perfectly normal that we’d run into each other?"
"Then why did you appear right here, right now, right in front of me? That’s fate."
"What floor?" Rose Shaw asked coldly, not wanting to waste her breath on him.
"The 26th floor."
Rose Shaw glanced at Keith Coleman. "The 26th floor?"
Keith Coleman brandished his room keycard.
Rose Shaw saw that the keycard was indeed for the 26th floor, and what’s more, it was for a room not far from hers and Melody’s.
"Melody would book this kind of room for you?" Rose Shaw asked, skeptical.
"I upgraded it myself."
Rose Shaw turned and moved to a corner of the elevator, clearly not wanting to talk to Keith Coleman anymore.
"Rose, I haven’t eaten yet. How about I drop my stuff off and we grab a bite together? Is there anything good around here?"
"I’ve already eaten," Rose Shaw said, staring at the floor indicator.
’Why is this so slow?’
’Every second felt like an eternity.’
The moment the elevator doors opened, Rose Shaw bolted.
After Keith Coleman became famous, beautiful women flocked to him wherever he went, throwing themselves at him. He had long since gotten used to it.
But now, he was getting a taste of the treatment he used to get back when he wasn’t worth a damn.
