Chapter 493: How Will You Repay Daddy?
"I’m not one yet," Melody quickly explained. After a moment of hesitation, she continued, "I dropped out of high school, but I want to take the college entrance exam next year. My goal is the architecture program at Trillium University."
Jonah Lowell listened quietly to Melody, nodding gently.
His gesture made her feel respected, acknowledged, and encouraged. A wave of warmth instantly washed over Melody’s heart.
"I’ll be waiting for you at Trillium University."
Melody was stunned for a second, then her heart filled with joy. ’What a huge vote of confidence!’
"If you have time, feel free to come by. I’ll be here all month, and I’ll also be giving lectures to students on-site."
"Thank you, Professor. I’ll be here every day." Melody was secretly delighted. ’I’ll definitely come and make the most of this chance to learn.’
After the tour, everyone went their separate ways.
When Melody got home, she headed straight for the study and immediately drafted a plan for herself. Since filming had been postponed, she now had a month-long break.
She would study in the mornings, and in the afternoons, she planned to go to the construction site. In the past, she had only built models at school. Now she had a large-scale worksite for practical experience and learning—it was an opportunity she couldn’t pass up.
Besides, Professor Lowell would be teaching on-site in person. What an amazing opportunity!
Evan Fairchild heard Melody’s footsteps and walked toward the study. He found her with her head down, engrossed in writing something. When he got closer, he saw it was a schedule.
"Honey, I met Professor Jonah Lowell today! I even got to talk with him for a bit."
’Jonah Lowell? A man?’
"And just a short chat with him gets you this excited?"
"Do you have any idea who he is? He’s a professor at Trillium University! If I get into Trillium, I could be his student! Just thinking about it is so exciting. From now on, I’m going to study every morning and go to the construction site in the afternoon to learn from Professor Lowell."
The way Melody idolized this Professor Lowell made a wave of jealousy wash over Evan.
"Isn’t filming supposed to start soon?"
"The Solaran Imperial Palace isn’t finished yet, so our filming schedule has been pushed back a month."
"This is a big deal. Why didn’t Tommy tell me?"
Melody: "..."
"He, uh, he did tell me. It was my decision to postpone filming. I wanted to wait until the Solara Palace was finished," Melody said quickly.
Seeing her expression, Evan walked right over and put his arm around her shoulder. "It’s fine as long as you’re the one who decided. You call the shots."
"It’s such a big deal, I should have discussed it with you."
"No need. Your decision is all that matters."
"After walking through the construction site with Professor Lowell today, I’m even more certain I made the right choice. I think this also fulfilled one of his lifelong dreams! He said that being able to see the Solara Palace restored in his lifetime means he can now die without regrets. And he was also very grateful to you. He said this project wouldn’t even exist if it weren’t for you."
Evan watched Melody’s excited expression, wondering what this Jonah Lowell was really like. ’He’s definitely a man, that’s for sure.’
But as for his age, his marital status, and everything else... Evan had no idea.
’If I had known, I never would have approved this project.’
’Couldn’t they find a single filming location in all of the Jansburg film studios?’
"He should be thanking you," Evan replied softly.
"Where would I get the confidence if my sugar daddy wasn’t backing me?"
"Then how are you going to repay your sugar daddy?"
"However you want."
Only then did a hint of a smile touch Evan’s lips.
"Well, you get back to studying. I’ll go make dinner." With that, Evan turned, walked out, and gently pulled the door shut behind him.
