Chapter 494: What a Coincidence, Also Surnamed Fei
When he got downstairs, he didn’t head straight to the kitchen to start dinner. Instead, he scrolled through his contacts until he found a specific number.
He’d saved the number but had never once called it.
’He had no idea if it was still in use.’
The contact name read: Leo Fairchild.
He had just dialed when the call connected.
"Third Uncle?" The voice on the other end sounded a little uncertain.
"Mm."
"Third Uncle, it really is you! Why are you calling me?" Leo Fairchild sounded completely floored. This was a first.
’His Third Uncle was actually calling him!’
"I’m calling to ask you about something."
"About what?"
"At your university, is there a professor named Jonah Lowell?"
"Yes, he is. He’s my teacher. Third Uncle, why are you suddenly asking about Professor Lowell?"
"How old is he?"
"He just turned sixty-nine. He’ll be seventy soon."
Hearing his age, Evan Fairchild’s tense expression relaxed slightly.
"Third Uncle, why do you ask?"
Evan Fairchild hung up without another word. The news did put him at ease. He got up and went to the kitchen to start on dinner.
On the other end of the line, Leo Fairchild was completely baffled.
He couldn’t begin to guess what had just happened or why his Third Uncle had called him. ’There’s no way Third Uncle knows Professor Lowell, is there? His social circle is completely different.’
’I just don’t get it. I really don’t.’
Melody Monroe stuck to her plan, showing up at the construction site every afternoon to study alongside Professor Lowell’s students.
Melody Monroe was exceptionally bright and eager to learn. She also had a solid foundation in the subject, so Professor Lowell treated her just like one of his own students.
After a month together, the relationship between Professor Lowell and Melody Monroe had become that of a mentor and a friend.
When the building was completed, Professor Lowell and everyone else involved could hardly contain their excitement. Melody Monroe was just as happy as they were.

This single month of hands-on experience had taught her so much—more than she’d learned in two years at school!
Professor Lowell walked over to Melody Monroe.
"Melody, there’s something I’d like to discuss with you."
"What is it?"
"My contract with the university is up next year. My term will probably end not long after you get into Trillium University. I’m getting old and don’t plan to renew. From then on, I’ll just stay home, tinker with some models, and live out the rest of my days."
Melody hadn’t expected this. ’What a shame that would be!’
"I can see that you have exceptional talent and a genuine passion for ancient architecture. I’d like to take you on as my apprentice."
"Professor Lowell, are you serious?"
"Of course I am."
"Professor! I couldn’t ask for anything more than to become your student! I’ll do the ceremony right now." Melody immediately turned to Jonah Lowell, about to perform the formal apprenticeship ceremony she’d seen on TV.
Jonah Lowell immediately helped her up. "That’s not necessary, not at all. I have one other apprentice. He’s a professor himself now, teaches at Trillium University. His name is Leo Fairchild."
’Leo Fairchild? The name doesn’t ring a bell.’
’What a coincidence, though. He has the same last name, Fairchild.’
"Professor, so does that mean I’m your apprentice now?" Melody was ecstatic.
"Of course. I’ve only ever taken two apprentices, you and him. You must prepare well for your entrance exams, and once you’re in, study hard. I’m an old man, but you two are in the prime of your lives. You are the future—the hope for passing on the knowledge of ancient architecture."
"Professor, I won’t let you down."
...
After Solara Palace was completed, cleaners were immediately brought in to prepare the building. It would soon be ready for use.
