Rhona Hughes sounded a little embarrassed. "Well, we’re good friends, after all. I’ll hang up for now. Let’s talk again when we have time."

"Okay." Raymond Ford hung up.

The information Rhona Hughes had shared was a golden opportunity for her.

No matter how hard Rose Shaw tried to promote Melody Monroe, if Lana Sheffield got involved, Melody’s life would become a living hell. It was uncertain if she could even survive at Stellaris!

Rose Shaw had been so ruthless; she couldn’t just sit back and take it!

Suddenly, a notification sound chimed from Raymond Ford’s phone. She opened it to see another payment reminder from the bank. Her skin crawled just looking at the message.

The most pressing problem giving her a headache right now was all this debt.

After some thought, she finally dialed a number.

"President Lewis, hello. This is Raymond Ford."

...

Melody Monroe and Evan Fairchild returned to the hotel with Ian Monroe.

Ian Monroe sat alone on the sofa while Melody Monroe packed for him and his father.

"Can’t we leave tomorrow morning?" Ian Monroe couldn’t bear for his mother to go.

"There isn’t enough time tomorrow morning." Melody Monroe turned and walked over to Ian Monroe. "I’ll be done with filming soon, too. I haven’t accepted a new role yet, so I should have some time off. I’ll be able to spend a lot more time with you then, Ian."

"He’s a big boy now. He needs to learn to be independent. How can he always be so clingy with his mother?" Evan Fairchild’s voice cut in suddenly.

Ian Monroe glanced in Evan Fairchild’s direction, looking indignant but not daring to talk back.

"You’re with him every day, and it’s still not enough for him," Evan Fairchild added, this time speaking to Melody Monroe.

Ian Monroe felt Mr. Fairchild was doing it on purpose.

He had only said one thing, and Mr. Fairchild had to say two.

Melody Monroe didn’t dare to argue, so she changed the subject. "Everything’s packed. Can you two take a look and see if I missed anything?"

Evan Fairchild stood up and walked over to Melody Monroe.

His sudden proximity made Melody Monroe uncomfortable. Just as she was about to step back to put some distance between them, Evan Fairchild suddenly took her hand. His other hand threaded through her silky hair, lifting it to gaze at her slender neck.

"Is it still bothering you?"

"I’m fine now. It probably wasn’t a severe reaction. I don’t feel anything anymore."

"I have to go back to Rockwellburg to handle something important. Once I’m done with my business at the company, I’ll come back and take you to a doctor. It’s possible to treat an allergic disposition."

"Can it really be treated?" Melody Monroe asked, a little hopefully.

This condition of hers was truly awful. The feeling of an allergic reaction was unbearable.

"If he says it can be done, then there’s a way."

’He?’ Melody Monroe didn’t ask who this person was. ’It must be someone Evan Fairchild knows.’

"It’s about time. Should I take you to the airport?" Melody Monroe looked at the two suitcases, one large and one small, sitting off to the side. For some reason, her heart suddenly ached with reluctance.

The past two days had made her feel as if they were an ordinary, happy family of three.

’If only things were really as I imagine them.’ But that was just a fleeting thought.

"Ian Monroe, pull your own suitcase," Evan Fairchild called out.

Ian Monroe slowly walked over and took hold of his suitcase.

Melody Monroe stroked Ian’s cheek and said softly, "Be a good boy, Ian, and listen to Mr. Fairchild."

"Mom, can I get a phone? Like the ones you grown-ups use," Ian Monroe asked suddenly.

"A phone?" Melody Monroe didn’t understand why Ian would ask for such a thing.

"Yeah, my very own phone. That way, when I miss you, I can video call you."

Melody Monroe looked up at Evan Fairchild, seeking his opinion.
