’To think he’d dare do something as arrogant as tearing up the contract!’

"Aya, don’t be angry. That man probably doesn’t even realize what a stupid thing he’s done!" Jared Quinn said, trying to comfort her.

"What do we do now?" Aya Winters asked Jared Quinn. With something like this happening, they couldn’t just sit here and wait.

"Let’s leave first. We won’t even have to wait until tomorrow morning. That assistant, Tommy, will come looking for us on his own initiative," Jared Quinn said with absolute certainty.

Aya Winters nodded, stood up, and walked out.

...

Melody Monroe waited for another half hour. She was starting to get hungry, but there was still no sign of Evan Fairchild. She picked up her phone and sent him a text.

"Are you busy today? When will you be back?"

When Evan Fairchild heard his phone buzz, he immediately picked it up. His icy expression suddenly softened a little.

"Where are you?" he texted back.

"At the hotel. I’ve been waiting here for four hours already. If you can’t make it back, I’ll go get something to eat by myself first."

"Wait for me." Evan Fairchild typed the two words, immediately shut his laptop, and said to everyone in the conference room, "That’s all for today."

’She’s actually been waiting at the hotel for four hours?’

Evan Fairchild raised his wrist to check the time. It was already so late, and she still hadn’t had dinner.

He couldn’t wait to get back to her.

The trip back would take at least forty minutes, and that was without traffic. He knew there was likely nothing for her to eat at the hotel, not even snacks.

Seeing President Fairchild stride out of the conference room, Tommy immediately went up to him.

"President Fairchild."

He had thought the meeting would last at least another hour. He never expected President Fairchild to come out so soon.

Evan Fairchild didn’t head back to his own office but instead walked directly toward the exit.

Tommy froze for a second, then hurried after him.

’Where is President Fairchild going in such a rush?’

Just as Evan Fairchild reached the elevators, a few figures approached from the other direction.

Aya Winters had been in a terrible mood, but her gaze suddenly fixed in one direction.

’Who else could that be but Evan Fairchild?’

The sight of his back alone was utterly captivating.

"President Fairchild!" Aya Winters hurried over, walking quickly on her four-inch heels.

Evan Fairchild merely glanced at her from the corner of his eye before turning his attention back to the elevators.

"President Fairchild, what a coincidence." Aya Winters had already reached Evan Fairchild’s side. "I came to sign the contract today. I heard you’ve been in meetings all day and were very busy."

After she spoke, Aya Winters glanced at Tommy.

Evan Fairchild didn’t say a word. ’These elevators feel especially slow today.’

Jared Quinn immediately stepped forward. "President Fairchild, Aya specifically cleared her schedule of a very important engagement to come and sign this contract today. However, a small, unpleasant incident occurred during the signing. Your assistant tore up the contract right in front of us."

Evan Fairchild glanced at Tommy.

"President Fairchild, it was Miss Winters who said we lacked sincerity because you weren’t signing with her personally. She said she didn’t want to sign anymore, so I tore up the contract."

"Who’s the person in charge?" Evan Fairchild asked.

A hint of a smirk flashed in Aya Winters’s eyes as she waited to see Tommy get taken down a peg.

"Mr. Coleman. I gave him one chance," Tommy answered immediately.

"You get one chance, too."

"Yes, sir!" Tommy nodded immediately.

Hearing Evan Fairchild say this, Aya Winters was overjoyed. She turned to him again and said, "President Fairchild, we met once before at the charity gala. I never thought that the next time we met, we’d be business partners."
